Browntggrr
http://cityguides.msn.com/citylife/slidesh...mp;imageindex=1 It's nice to see Beast make the list, but some that are on the list are rather questionable. Superman at SFMM? TTD & KK on the same list? It is fun to see what the media will come up with next!
cstrwomann
I agree with Millenium Force and TTD, The Voyage, The Beast, but what happened to Hades and Son of Beast that should be a top 10 in my opinion. Most of the coasters on MSN are from Cedar and Six Flags so it may be biased.
DropZone99
How come under El Toro it says El Toro Information provided by the Roller Coaster Database (www.rcdb.com) Location: Six Flags Great Adventure Jackson, NJ Ranking: This ride offers speeds of up to 70 mph—the fastest for a wooden coaster in the U.S. Statistics: Speed: 70 mph Length: 4400' Height: 181' Drop: 176' Inversions: 0 Duration: 1:42 Max Vertical Angle: 76 Degrees SOB is the fastest wooden roller coaster. The Interpreter
Son of Beast isn't open. The fastest operating wooden coaster in the USA is El Toro. Not to mention no one yet knows what Son of Beast's top speed may be when/if it reopens....
welchce
The Interpreter is right. What I found most shocking on that list is how California Screamin' is on it. I'm not saying it's a bad coaster, it is nice and smooth. The ranking it has is it "boasts the 4th longest roller coaster track in the U.S. " O wow, that is extreme! haha (by the way, it's only 4 because they didn't count SOB again). It is the now (since SOB is loop-less) the longest looping roller coaster in the world but I wouldn't call that extreme, I'd call it obscure. DeLorean Rider
A coaster doesnt exist in the amusement park industry unless guests are riding it. Same thing happened with Steel Dragon 2000 when it was closed. It was removed from all record lists and that coaster that used to be dualing but then had the tracks connected became the longest coaster. Diadrasauras or something ridiculas like that. look at that, instead of the two tracks coming straight in and being two complete circuits they just put some cross-over track in and have one track twice as long. What a cheat.
welchce
That is pretty cheap.
DeLorean Rider
Anything for a record to gloat about. Someone in charge of that park must have bolted up in bed one night and realized: "hey with Steel Dragon 2000 not operating, if we make Daidarasaurus 1 coaster instead of 2, it will be longer than other coaster in the world and we can brag about it!" Too bad Steel Dragon re-opened and spoiled their fun. They probably still gloat about having the second longest roller coaster in the world. 7677.2' of cheapness, lol. Well actually it would've been more like, "私達が2の代りにDaidarasaurusに1つのコースターを作ればちょっと作動しない鋼鉄ドラゴン2000年と、それは世界および私達の他のコースターがそれについて自慢することができるより長い!" but when translated back it sounds like, "If we in place of 2 make one coaster in Daidarasaurus, steel iron dragon 2000 just a little does not operate, that rather than the world and our other coasters being able brag concerning that, is long!" haha
Delirium33
That was cool to see The Beast make the list. Also, isn't SoB LONGER than millenium force? On the site it says MF is the second longest coaster in the U.S. So they must have made that list with the idea of Son of Beast being closed.
welchce
Yeah, SOB is 7032' whereas MF is only 6595'.
jcold1
maybe it's 2nd longest steel coaster? idk lol
DeLorean Rider
dont forget, that loop was 118 ft tall so the ride probably lost about 300ft or so. Not that it makes it shorter than MF but still food for thought.
Cormaster
lol you mean a Holiday world coaster is that good? Seems whoever made that list was kind a biased towards wooden coasters
The Interpreter
Uh...this is coming from a huge fan of two of the NJ coasters on that list (since you joined us recently, you may not know that). Many have made the voyage to Holiday World to experience a legend in wooden coasters, and a lot are raven about it! And that's no bull, even though I happen to prefer El Toro to anything over in Santa Claus (or Medusa, even!). Holiday World is a park with world class coasters...that is a given. Pat Koch is a gem, and for years she ran a clean, family oriented park with customer service second to none.
Kennywooddude
Ugh, Superman at SFMM extreme? Since when? Also, having TTD and KK on the same list is like having Wicked Twister and Steel Venom on the list. I can name tons of coasters are are more exciting than that. Im sorry to everyone who likes The Beast but I don't see how it can be considered "extreme".
Jasper
I just have to ask. What was the point of that.
