  1. Many, many years ago there was cowboys and indians that would be running around the "little town" that the train runs through and be shooting at each other with guns and bows and arrows. There were also beavers that would chew on the trees and they would fall just as the train passed.
  2. lisacor, no need to get the flame resistant suit on, I totally agree with you. They shouldn't have picked holidays for bring a friend free day. I wouldn't want my child going with someone else on Mothers day, it's my day to spend with my kids and family, and I think it would be the same if I decided to go to the park for the day I wouldn't want to take a friend of my sons and take them away from their mother. Maybe the family values of the kids now days doesn't matter much to spend time with their families, mostly on a holiday such as mothers day and fathers day. Just the way I was raised I guess. Maybe I'm just too outdated, but I like to spend time with my family. Main thing that I'm trying to say is...bring a friend free day shouldn't be on a holiday! (Now it's time to get my flame resistant suit on!)
  3. Been a few years back, though I do remember riding it. It was totally enclosed in a building, you rode in a boat with maybe 6 or so people, you passed scenery on both sides, such as smurfs in different seasons, one favorite I remember was smurfs ice skating, the snow and ice was really sparkley and looked so real. Had really loud "smurf" music throughout the ride. I particularly remember Gargamels voice over any others. Was really nice to ride when it was hot out because it seemed like it was air-conditioned, it may not of been, probably because of the water and was so dark inside. Whenever we went it was like one of those "must rides" which later became another favorite when it became Phantom Theatre.
  4. Sorry about the wrong date of 6/27, this is info I got from the qfm96 website, they must have the wrong month, right day. Sorry again!
  5. My husband just showed me where he found the Weird Al information at, go to www.qfm96.com, check concert listings. He will be at Timberwolf on 6/27, tickets go on sale Sat May 10 at 10am thru Ticketmaster.
  6. Not for sure of exact date, heard that Weird Al was going to be there sometime in June. Been checking PKI website for concert info, nothing listed yet.
  7. These so called "rednecks" and "inbred hillbillies" that were in the park on Friday night, did they have "free pass" tattooed on them somewhere? How did you know that they were not season pass holders? I am by no means a redneck or a hillbilly and am not particularly defending anyone but this is rather prejudice of those that think that way. It sounds to me that most of you either work at the park or are there alot, that is great, you will definitely have the chance to go lots more times this season and will have lots of fun I'm sure. Why base it all on one bad experience? Enjoy life a little bit. As CantStopCabron said "you people complain way too much".
  8. Campground is rather nice, employees are friendly, quiet atmosphere, nobody bothers you, only setback is that the bathrooms do need some cleaning up and need more of them. Otherwise the camping experience is the best, if you want to beat the crowd out of the park, leave a little early, catch the shuttle and you can get an excellent view of the fireworks from the ball field. It's really neat to listen to all the rides in the morning while they're testing them. Kind of gets you geared up and ready to go. If you decide to take a break and want to relax for a while you just catch the shuttle back and forth, you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot and is also convenient if you don't want to buy all your meals in the park, just go back to the camp. Would be nice if they had a pool though. For those that didn't know, shuttle doesn't run during FearFest. It's a long walk back at 1 in the morning!
  9. Hopefully the Subway is cheaper than they are at Six Flags, 3 years ago when I went a 6" sub, chips and drink was like around $7.00. Didn't even have the variety and toppings that are available in the usual stores. Does anybody have any info on the Chinese restaurant, is it buffet style? Prices?
  10. I just read about this on whiotv.com they say this won't slow you down any. Also says to pack light because security has the right to inspect bags. Shouldn't really be that much of a hassle, not any worse than we went through the latter part of the season in 2001.
  11. Not too long ago I participated in a survey by PKI on this very subject. I feel as though attendance will suffer because of the war, people will not be out spending as much money and also the threat of attacks on the U.S. Money wise if you live nearby and by chance have a season pass then it's not costing you that much to go frequently, if you live far away and the price of gas is outrageous then I don't see many people out traveling great distances to take their vacations. People will be staying closer to home. Also look at it this way, if there were going to be an attack or terriorist threat wouldn't it be somewhere where there's alot of people?
  12. Clevelands Sea World before Six Flags took over, I'm not sure if it's still there or not, they had a 3D Pirates Adventure attraction, it was inside a theatre, it was as if you were on a pirate ship, the special effects were great, when someone walked the plank and fell into the water the audience was splashed, when it rained it also rained inside, when a bird flew over and pooped it really felt as though you were being hit with it, when it got windy, the wind would blow on you, and also when the cannon was fired a burst of hot air would hit you. The only setback to this was that the seats didn't move, I think that this would be neat to incorporate these types of special effects with PKI FX Theatre. Getting all the electronics in the seat wet would be the only problem.
  13. I like the idea that SOBRIDER had, different uniforms for different areas.
  14. I attempted the last day of June to go, this was on a Sunday, went too late in the day, cars were parked all the way down to the campground and out by the main road, decided to go to The Beach instead. Then was there on the last day of July during my vacation, I didn't expect it to get that busy since it was during the week, let's just put it this way never again will I attempt to go on BAFFD! I felt very sorry for the workers that day.
  15. I couldn't come up with any one change that I'd like to see, I've got many. In contrary to all my opinions I still love going to PKI and nothing will change that in the near future. I've been going there since the first year you opened in '72 and realize that when Paramounts took over there were major changes that have been for the better. I still do miss some of the old attractions like the train ride for example, this now seems that the reason to ride is for the trip back and forth to waterworks, I remember when they had actual live actors such as cowboys shooting guns and indians with bows and arrows, does anyone remember when the beavers actually chewed down the trees and they fell over as you passed? To a child this was great, now it seems rather boring, if you're lucky you may see a rabbit or a groundhog. Theming has a big impact on the audience. In the Action Zone, the first year they had the stunt tower show, whatever happened to this? If they're not going to utilize this then they should take it out, it's just dead space. The Paramount Story needs to be cleaned up, it's a nice quiet place to go and get away from all the high traffic areas, just needs to be kept up a little better. Rivertown is my favorite area, you can go behind Wings and cool off in the trees, walk over the bridge and watch the animals playing in the creek, I remember when the candlemaker and old time candy store were in Rivertown, they need to move these back to retheme the area. Old time photo, leather shop and woodworkers are still there but would like to see more. Take out the "old fashioned" cars if they're not going to run these again this year. Waterworks is another of my favorite areas, it seems like such a long walk to get to the wave pool, if something were put into the dead spaces it wouldn't seem that far. Try to connect the front area to the back with some new attraction. Tuckers has been in the park for several years now, but it seems whenever we're there it's never open. Same for many of the small food stands in Coney Mall and some also in the kids areas. Maybe try like some other parks do and have a buffet restaurant. And last but not least, run the shuttles to and from the parking alot more! Don't want to come off as only complaints but these are just my observations over the past years.
  16. Over and over again I remember hearing the theme song from "Driving Miss Daisy", also I think the theme from "Terms of Endearment" and possibly Jennys song from "Forrest Gump".
  17. Things I would like to know...where are all the shuttles in the parking lot that transport you to the main gate and back to your parking areas when you need them?? There used to be like lots of these running around to catch, in the past several years it's like there's less and less of them. You'll see them parked in the area along the side of the parking lot near the campground. And since I brought up the campground, why don't they take about 1/2 of the campground out and extend the park with more rides? The campground is never what I would consider busy even in the busiest season.
  18. Just wanted to wish you all luck who do go to the job fair and apply for this seasons jobs. PKI seems like a great place to work since you have so much fun while you're there. The only bad thing is the heat, long hours, bratty children (and some adults included also) and no overtime pay! Good luck to you all!

    Ticket Prices

I personally think the ticket prices are too high, season passes are the way to go. If you're a "non-rider" then the prices are really too high. Fearfest needs to be a tad bit cheaper also, if you have a season pass already you should get more of a discount than what $5.00? I guess all in all the park admissions isn't all that bad since waterworks is included in the prices as long as this is open at the time to go to.

    On-Ride Photo

I usually only buy the pictures if it's a first for that particular ride. Otherwise they get really expensive if you try to get one every time you go. I've got a whole shelf covered with "first" time photos from PKI and several other parks, they're great to show to friends and sometimes seem to be the only pictures I have on hand of the whole family together. As far as keyhole photo, usually only once a year is enough.
  21. I like the new logo, it seems to "jump out" at you. Flashier. Shows enthusiasm. Isn't this what PKI is all about, something more exciting?
  22. In my opinion, WWC is much better, yeah the lines are longer but it's worth the wait. Was once on this with some foreign speaking gentlemen and it was great seeing them soaked with their cameras and all. They didn't have any idea what they were getting themselves into. On a hot day this is the best. CF is a good place to go and stand on the bridge when you're not near any other water sources to cool you off when it's really hot. But too short of a ride for me.
  23. I also received the newpaper articles in my area, I have been to Cedar Point, this is a great park, but lines were too long. Everything is kept up in cleanliness and overall is an amazing park, but I hate the lines! All in all you need about 2-3 days to experience the entire park. About 3 years ago my family and I went to Six Flags/Sea World for 2 days when they were 2 separate parks, my family and I really thoroughly enjoyed Sea World. Got to see most of the shows and enjoyed the scenery. When we went to Six Flags we were rather disappointed, they had a rather decent water park, there version of a water rapid ride was very bad, and a majority of the rides were not even open, probably more than half the park wasn't even operating, I believe this was the first year of SF taking over from Geauga Lake so maybe this was why things weren't up to par. The lines were not long because they were'nt that busy, but we did alot of walking around trying to find rides that were open. And prices to eat were awful, Subway was about $9 a person for half a sub, drink and chips. Not much a variety in shows either. I don't want to entirely judge them on this experience since they were still in the works of renovating the park. We're going to try the visit again this summer so hopefully things are better. When we visit PKI the lines are usually not that long, I like it the most in the fall when the park is not that busy you can usually walk right onto the rides, otherwise I probably wouldn't have had the guts to ride some of the rides that I've riden because I would have time to think about it and then wouldn't do it. I can't wait til the season starts, you won't see me on Delirium though!
  24. Hi, this is my first time on, so please don't yell too loud if I do something wrong. My imput on this matter is I agree with Teenageninja, each ride should be themed individually to the viewing material. I like the shorter clips so that you don't get so involved and then have to leave to get on the ride and miss the remainder. The park overall needs more work on theming to the areas, don't get me wrong I love the park and will still go without the theming but it really does make a difference. As far as standing in lines there needs to be something there to keep your mind off the wait. I don't want to stray from the subject but I'm sure that the tv programs are pretaped long in advance, but wouldn't it nice to see snow, ice, wind, etc. when you're standing in 100 degree weather? And definitely more water misters!
