  1. Mr. Gramke has a medical condition that makes riding extremely hazardous at best. He has often said he has not ridden coasters in years. That being said, he has also made his preferences against airtime aka negative g's on coasters quite well known. Mr. Gramke also spoke about Diamondback last year at KIC day. His statement was "we're not going to check it at the mid-course". You see how far that went. Not only do we get a serious speed check there, but at a trim brake as well. Good grief. I am glad I'm not the only one that has noticed the speed on Beast this year has been dialed back. Just so you know, they added yet another block of magnetic brake to the shed before the second tunnel this week too.
  2. That is exactly what I meant. It's not the person at the entrance keeping order I have a problem with. It is just the assigned seat idea that I despise. If they had a person at the entrance to the station to keep it from being crowded, great. They just don't need to tell people that have waited for quite some time which seat to sit in. Let them decide on their own and fill the station accordingly.
  3. A madhouse? I wouldn't go that far. It was no different than the line at The Beast or any other coaster at Kings Island that does not use a seat assigner. Personally, I do not like the idea of a seat assigner. I don't like standing in line for an hour or more only to be told what seat to sit in. I have my preferred seat on most if not all of the coasters at KI, and will wait for that spot, even if it means waiting several extra cycles. As someone else pointed out, they could use a person to "pulse" the line to keep the station from becoming over-crowded, but not necessarily to assign a seat.
  4. Good for them! I hope they waited and met the line jumpers in the station of the ride. Make them wait as long as possible and throw them out! If they keep that up, people will learn pretty quick not to line jump there. Kings Island needs to get their act together and do the same thing. Maybe people that spit can go right along with them.
  5. That's a very good point DaveS. As much as I hate line jumping, those basketballs bouncing everywhere is much more annoying. They seem to be everywhere these days too. I'm still waiting for the day one of them ends up in the splash down pool. As far as the spitting goes, that is worse than the basketballs and line jumpers combined. Every time I am waiting in line for SOB, people are spitting all over the place. I am waiting for the day to come that someone spits off the top ramp and gets someone on the bottom one. Terpy is exactly right with what he said too. Families and other groups will start to shy away from the park if they continue to be spit on while in line, line jumped, cussed at, and bounced to death with basketballs. I guess this is a sign of the times we live in now. It is really kind of sad.
  6. ^ Just wait until the Cicadas come out. It won't be long now . . .
  7. Pretty sure you're one of few that think that. Well, he's right about the overly-trimmed part. I have ridden The Beast more times than I care to count and have never thought of him as boring or painful, even with the trims. I really like the idea of the park having its own food places instead of the chains. It is more interesting, to me at least, to go the park and have some of the food that you can only get there. You can get Subway anywhere. Where else can you go and eat at Stunt Crew Grill or Jukebox Diner? I can't say that I have ever had bad food from Stunt Crew Grill either. Jukebox on the other hand . . .
  8. Oh, no. That sounds like a trim brake to me!! The Crypt has sure had it's share of issues lately. It would not surprise me in the least to see it removed sometime soon. At least become SBNO.
  9. I still see plenty of people in line when I am at KI. If you don't like SOB, then don't ride. I'll gladly walk up and get right on in the very back seat while everyone else is in line for Diamondback. Get rid of the no re-ride policy, and I'll be completely happy over there. Turn off the mid-course trim brake, better still.
  10. It was an absolutely fantastic time! I completely enjoyed the experience and meeting new people from all over. I definately hope they do this event again. One suggestion for next time though - turn all those trim brakes off!
  11. I collect shot glasses from all the different parks I have been to. I have quite a few different ones. It's good to know that someone else collects them too.
  12. I think the single riders line will be gone by then. They could take out a section of the railing at the bottom of the stairs and set up the que like The Beast's que. The left side goes to the front of the train and the right to the rear. This also gets rid of the seat assigner.
  13. ^ I like your black hat. He seems like he could be very handy to have!!
  14. You are absolutely right. I went to Coastermania in 2008 and it was a blast. We started with a ride on Millie soon after daylight and ended the day with trim brake free rides on Magnum and Gemini! Dragster was also running until about 12:30am too. If KI does RWW the way Coastermania is done, it will be one fantastic event. Well worth waiting for. Hopefully with trim brake free rides and all!!
  15. Agreed. Hopefully Kings Island will be listening and not trim Diamondback to death.
  16. ^^ Oh, I guess some people like getting their ears pounded off, and being launched into a trim brake.
  17. That looks awesome! I didn't hear any trim brakes (or MCBR) in use in the video, lets hope it stays that way!
  18. I certainly hope they still have the ERT on The Beast that morning. I had expected no ERT on Diamondback because of the auction winners rides, and hope for at least a little ERT.
  19. Well, I'm ready to hear the "Welcome to The Beast" on the way up the lift hill. Also, it will be great to "crash" into the lift chain as we get ready to climb the world's tallest wooden coaster.
  20. Well, maybe they are going to finally paint poor ole Flight Deck. It could sure use a new paint job. The remake on the Paramount Story is another interesting thought too.
  21. Amen, I ride the log flume about 20 times during October when the elephant is off, and 0 times the rest of the year as walking around with a soaked shirt doesn't do anything for me. Doubt this would happen but I vote for the return of the International Restaurant Awww, come on!! You don't have to ride the log flume to enjoy the elephant. I never have ridden the ride, but thoroughly enjoy standing there watching people get soaked by him. And I like dare-to-fly's name for him, Ellie. Sounds fitting. The name "Soaker" would fit too.
  22. ^ As unlikely as it may be, it would still be sweet!! And they definately need to get rid of that rule on SOB. That, and the midcourse brakes. *Ducks and runs*
  23. Actually, this has been posted as an event on the ACE website. 5-9 to 5-10, its called Ride Warriors Weekend. They don't have any details other than the date. Sounds like a good time. ACE Events Website
  24. I remember when that was talked about, it was supposed to be great. I wish they had built it. If I remember right, it was supposed to have two wooden coasters to start with.
