Featured Replies

i've only been two years so I don't know what rides were really great back in the day so could someone please tell me what used to rock KI????

King Cobra and the Keel boat canal! wow!

and of course our beloved flyers the eagles

but flight commander was great these 4 came back wow oh what a park!

Id have to go with King Cobra, Flight Commander, and Flying Eagles.

King Cobra. I miss that ride so.... Also, the Keelton Flume. I hardly got to appreciate it before they tore it down mad.gif

I like how everyone agrees with me that Cobra should stay =D *Plots ways to destroy Delerium*

I liked King Cobra, but I'd take Delirium over it anyday.

I never cared for the Cobra, but then I'm just not a fan of stand-ups.

Lessee...what is missed in KI?

King Cobra wasn't a great ride, but it was fun...great airtime on the bunny hills...

KCKC was fun because it was a relaxing flume ride...

I loved Skylab...

Smurfs Enchanted Voyage was great for kids and a nice way to cool off...and was much more original than Phantom Theater or Scooby Doo....

And this wasn't a ride, but I used to love the International Restaurant! They had great food and the view couldn't be beat!

Mine has to be Phantom Theater. Although it seemed to never really had a line I bet everyone rode it. The characters were classic.

The Flyers, Phantom Theater, and though it's not a ride, and it's partially still around (though barely), I used to LOVE the arbor tunnel in HB Land.

I miss the 'tiques just because of the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere it provided, I hope CF finds a new place to put them.

7th Portal, the awesome 3D movie ride at the FX Theater before they decided to get rid of it and replace it with SpongeBob 3D.

That, and the Phantom Theater.

Oh yeah, and Curse of the Crypt from 2004's FearFest, for......sentmental reasons. rolleyes.gif

The Bat, Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal, Flight Commander, Der Spinnin' Keggers, and the Bayern Curve.

The Bavarian Beetle.

And Phantom Theater.

And The Eagles.

And of course, The Rotor.

I can't believe how close we came to having to list the original flume from Coney Island on this list...

So close that the closing was announced.

So close that many of us tearfully got in what we knew were our last rides.

So close that it didn't operate for a season.

Then somebody, somewhere got the decision reversed.

Thankfully.

PHANTOM THEATER. That was the most Disney-like ride Kings Island ever had. I still miss it to this day. It was charming, entertaining, and the lines were seldom long.

Have a great day!

Too many folk came off the Rotor puking. <G>

LoL, yeah it was Disney-like because they ripped off Disney's Haunted Mansion ride in about every way possible.

Better they come off the ride doing that than do it during the ride...

More than once I watched a ride op spray the entire cycling set of riders with a garden hose while the ride was operating....which always reminded me of a Maytag washer during the first spin cycle before the washer fills with water for the rinse...washer merrily spinning with occasional short bursts of water to help eliminate the...suds.

Not many Rotors left. Great Adventure still has one. You rarely even see one at a fair anymore. There's a reason. Those babies were intense. The few left seldom operate as violently or wonderfully as the one at Kings Island did.

Tumble bug was great my mom and I would ride it over and over. I like the Zodic because you could spin them and of coarse my first coaster the King Cobra.

Oh, yes....The Tumble Bug. Only two left in the USA: Kennywood's Turtle and Conneaut Lake Park's Bug. The latter only reopened last Saturday!
