The Terpster, who was well known for loudly making that proclamation while even more loudly ringing a cowbell at noon each Wednesday up and down the halls of his..uh...grad school, much to the delight of some profs and the dean, and to the consternation of others, and who proceeded to matriculate anyway. Hadn't thought of that in years (and this was waay before the days of "needs more cowbell!".

It does pose the interesting question of what is to become of the fort. Mr. Kinzel couldn't bear it being named Fort Cooper (after he learned, after it was posted here, for whom it was named...in fact, some sly poster here posted the reason, suspecting the garrison would then be quickly renamed. It was. ) Or, perish the thought, will the edifice, without being renamed, honor a new KI GM transplanted from a park a bit further south, speaking of sonny (thus making paternal visits a bit easier in his dotage)? Or, will the place become a fort named for someone else we met?

and if you look at the 1972 map compared to 2011 you can see a lot of change to the park 1972,http://www.themepark.../pki197x_1.html 2011, http://www.visitking...k/map/index.cfm 1972 was the closest year i could find but its close enough. Ive been looking at this map for a while and just now noticed scooby riding the roller coaster.

You always have terrific ideas when posting pictures. My favorite thread on this site was the offseason blues photos you posted during the last offseason. I just showed my father these transitions. He loved seeing the changes made as he once lived in Cincy and attended the park when he was around my age. Looking forward to more transition pictures!

JD - I've been waiting for days to get home and see these pics on something larger than the mobile skin on my phone, and they didn't disappoint now that the Dr's finally discharged me Thank you for the efforts in pulling this together - I look forward to the future installments (won't you please consider posting on weekends?) I see so many things about the park that I miss - the driving rides the most but things like the tunnel also, and have many fond memories of the park from a bygone era. I understand progress, but wish my kids had the chance to drive me on the 'Tiques like I did my Dad - it is something they love to do at any park with a similar ride. Although I have to admit they are also the ride on which I would most often get in trouble during my teenage park going years
