  1. The Blue side will be used for this year's event. We will again provide everyone with bottled water at The Racer station. Thank you in advance to everyone participating in Coasting for Kids this year at Kings Island and other Cedar Fair parks.

  2. With more ammenities, a fast-paced Action River, and a giant second wave pool, Soak City is sure to please all of Kings Island's waterpark fans. 3. i actually pictured gargamell saying that as i red what you just typed there. which (from my perspective) is exactly what mr. ouimet (or however you pronounce/spell his name) is doing. i think the park is in good hands now for a brighter future.

  7. I vote for the claim that it's new. I've ridden hundreds of times, and I can honestly say that was the first and only time I've felt that. THe ride was only about half filled at the time. Maybe it has something to do with weight distribution?

  8. I particularly enjoy DT. I would miss it, but would not be the end of the world and would not keep me from visiting the park. On a side note, I really liked wildcat as well. I will miss WC!

  9. Are ride ops CP's version of Dippin Dots guys? Maybe I'm not reading enough into this, but if survey markers are around a ride, it's going to be natural for guests to ask questions. Based on this, I'd expect them to be given a bunch of stock answers - doesn't mean they know the plan, just means they can answer a guest - and said answer may or may not be a hint as to what is really happening.

  10. For food, I recommend the Plymouth Rock Café. You can get a Thanksgiving-type meal consisting of a main dish, two sides, and bread for just $10, or add a third side for $1.50 more. Their Scrambler is interesting to watch or ride as it's manually operated, which isn't common to my understanding. As others above me have mentioned, Pilgrim's Plunge and Liberty Launch are great on the dry side of the park. Pilgrim's Plunge can also be accessed from the waterpark in your swimsuit if you'd rather not get your clothes wet.

  11. May I add my 2 cents on older people riding coasters. My grandfather rode The Beast at 75yrs old. I told him, "Grandpa, this is a rough coaster" (I was a little worried) After riding the coaster he comment was, "I was a tank commander in WWII, now that was a rough ride" He told me the Sherman tank had a lot rougher ride, than The Beast ever would be. Sorry guys, I had to share that with you, since my Grandfather is no longer with us. That was about the funniest thing he ever told me. He shrugged off riding, what I thought was a rough ride experience.

  13. I have always thought that while absolutely marvelous to look at, Son of Beast's sturcture appeared questionable. If you look at Son of Beast's architecture as opposed to other wooden coasters in the park, it definintely looks more unorganized, or as I like to describe it, a rat's nest of wood. The lateral supports look as if they were rushed with construction. To sum it all up, the entire thing just looks misaligned. If the awkward sturctural style of Son of Beast is due to the rides incredible scale, and not a factor of being rushed, then perhaps wood really shouldn't be built to those heights.

  14. Here is a crazy idea - first thing I'd do is sit down with those that know the park inside and out, listen to their current plans, listen to their ideas, and listen to what they'd change. Following this, I'd do nothing for a while - observe from the inside while working with my leadership team update the plans I know, not sexy, but probably more reality. My focus on where to change things would be around the guest experience: customer-associate interactions, food quality/value, ride wait times/experience, and park cleanliness.

  15. TheLip2 already has more credibility than half the kids in the SOB thread running their mouths about internet petitions and rocky mountain track. The fact that the ride has sat there for multiple season unused was the biggest clue of all. Now thanks to Mr. Lip's report, we can finally put a nail in the coffin of a ride that was never really good to begin with. Lip2, welcome!

  16. Sorry again seeing the picture reminded me of him saying that he isn't actually in the picture. I just thought it was funny because i remembered seeing the indians in sneakers when they had the settler and indian fights.

  19. Another reality check, and something Mr.Kinzel & Co. were NOT good at in their last years. Highly successful companies and organizations satisfy and delight three groups, not just two. Investors and customers have been mentioned. Those two groups were also emphasized by Cedar Fair in recent years. If as an entity you also delight, motivate, treat, value and compensate your employees well, it becomes far easier to take care of your customers. This is especially so in high people contact businesses, like the park business. In recent years, Cedar Fair has made many decisions to cut labor costs, especially at the lower pay levels...this while compensation levels for those named or akin to Kinzel hit record levels and the CEO even demanded, and got, a laundry allowance. If Mr. Ouimet's priorities run more toward overall guest satisfaction, investors and employee development, morale/compensation, then you may well see fewer big, expensive flashy coaster installations in the future. Significantly, there is only one such installation slated for 2012, and even that is not in the USA. Watch what they do, not what they say.
