It was super hot. I think that’s what kept people away until later when it got cooler and fireworks happened.

Had it last night. Pretty good. Definitely all around a better experience than most have posted about RHOFG this year. No real complaints other than having to stand there 4 minutes to use one meal plan when everything else, including the other meal plan was entered and paid for. Odd that they can’t “override” for 4 minutes when other places all season long have “overridden” for larger time gaps. Some places I know has been much less than 4 hours and I’ve played “dumb” I mentioned finding it odd they wouldn’t override for 4mins at guest services and they said there’s no such thing as override. They acted like they had no idea what the other places had been doing, but figured they were just “giving it away” since there’s no override. Inconsistent at best!

Cedar Fair Posters with Easter Eggs

Yes I do know that. The point is this does not seem to be “haunt” set up. It’s odd and stands out as it really has no logical place in a vaguely “European garden”. Like someone else said it gets odder with the cactus. It all seems related to each other yet not related to anything around it. Like it’s just odd enough to catch your eye. I’m not making a mountain out of a mole hill. I’m just observing and actually giving them credit that if this does tie into something it’s been masterfully handled. It’s also very frustrating as all of this proves there are creative people with great abilities in place making that work for, it are contracted by the parks. It’s a shame that this level of detail doesn’t carry through with things like the out of place shade canopys in the diamond back queue or the transition between river town and PS that’s a stroll by a big painted wood fence. They show they CAN, they just regularly don’t. -
Cedar Fair Posters with Easter Eggs

I agree about the tower gardens “hints”being something. It’s an odd aesthetic choice to put in an odd area. I really believe there’s too much coincidence for it to all be coincidence. I’m not saying they are all teasers for a new ride, but there is definitely an integrated narrative developing using threads from multiple parks to weave a story. As to what that story is, how deep it goes and what they do with it waits to be seen. Hope they can actually follow through in real execution with what they concept in marketing. -
When is the last day for the show?

It will be interesting if Adventure Express gets a minor retheme (it really doesn’t need a ton of work- all cosmetic to remove the jungle and play up mining) then THAT is used as part of the hype for a new RMC where SOB was and maybe it’s accessed from the AA area. The Hanks burrito shack could even work thematically, maybe with different food. The entire area becomes “old mining” theme. Odd place for it but no offer than a decaying jungle temple theme. It would cool if this crossed multiple parks, rides and even op seasons.

While the lights on the building have been festive this season, I hope they fix them before winterfest. Lots burnt out. Major sections pulled loose and dangling. Where they used the plastic roof socket holders a lot have come lose. When that’s a major element to the park for Christmas they’ve lost some of their uniqueness and are starting to look rough.
-
Totally. I was hoping the bar would be raised a bit to the level they set seeing that they can actually theme areas, have quantity of entertainment at a variety of scales and good variety of food and retail options. Small step though, small steps.

If the drink was bad, why not dump it and just fill it with something else. Why get back in line for a new cup, and what about a nominal wait between refill to keep people from “freeloading others” makes it less “unlimited” seems like a big deal made about semantics that are stated. All of the time spent screen shotting details to support your argument maybe could have been spend earlier reading the details of what you were buying.

Heard they took names at guest services for complimentary after 4 tickets for anyone there yesterday. Have friend with passes that gave them the names of 7 people not even at the park that day that thought would like free tickets. Sounds like guest services didn’t really care.
-
Not “trashy” as much as just really slapped together looking. Anyone can tell it’s an “out of business” retail store with a few games thrown in. Like a dying mall. It’s not like they even tried to find games that match the “theme”
-
I agree. It looks like what it (hopefully) is and very temporary. It definitely needs some rethinking in the long run.
-
No. I think this is fairly recent. Looks REALLY lame. Retail is an aspect of the park that needs some work. It’s such a good way to increase guest spending, but you have to give them something good to buy. Shot glasses with a ride logo on them can only go so far. “Ride theme” shops are hard to keep relevant for long.

It seems like they may be having these type of events to try new food options before rolling them out to the general “menu” wish the park had more creative food on an ongoing basis. I think these type of events are a great way to engage a local AP crowd by giving something new without major investments in rides every season.

Kings Island closes early (7/10/18) due to “suspicious item” found

Wondered as we were there and decided to head to the car about 9:50. Had the idea to put on “greatest show” so we could have our own soundtrack to watch them as we drove of and at 10:05 figured something was up. Noticed a lot of rides were shut down by 9:30 but thought maybe because it was so dead they just were doing a rolling close and as queues emptied, they shuttered. -
I’m hearing from someone involved with winterfest that there “may “ be an opening pushed up a week. The Friday before thanksgiving is definitely jt off the table. Also, yes, there will be additional areas of the park open this year. It is pushing further into coney. With that, it’s pretty much the entire dry park. Who’d a thought?
-
Did this twice with my 10 year old today. Park needs more experiences like this more often.
-
Would have been nice if all of this made some attempt to fit the area it’s in and not just look like a jumble of concert rigging.
-
I think overall the park looks very “tidy”. A lot of cleanup in the off season. Surprised to see so much of the lighting elements left up from winterfest but not in use like the lights in Planet Snoopy. Wish they were using those with maybe geometric patterns or something to brighten the area. I love that they’re using the lights on international for fireworks but wished they spent some time hiding wires better. It wast bad for winterfest when it was almost dark when park opened but in the full daylight look a little “obvious”. Just hope Winterfest doesn’t suffer with all of the lighting left out year round like starlight spectacular did.
-
Fountain lighting is now syncing with other lighting. Seems to be work still in progress.
-
I wish they would somehow incorporate pyro for the tree lighting at winterfest. Would have a bigger impact on “0” if the tower “exploded” with light. Overall good use of winterfest lighting investment. Agree about the fountain. Now that just needs to join the show.

Carrowinds did a great job with their elf village. Hope our coney area gets a bit brighter next year. I think they used the winter fest way light show in this area

Looks like CGA got Kings Islands original set for tinkers. Wish they had "fleshed this out" a bit more for us, or even figured out a way to cover/ heat international showplace and use that for tinkers since the architecture sort of lends itself to the original set design.
