Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
DiamondBanshee replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I had this same feeling before Cedar Point did what they did. Kings Island is (arguably) Cedar Fair's second most important park, so it should, in theory, receive the second most attention. Plus with KK and HW within driving distance, they need to stay on top of their game. Banshee filled a massive invert sized hole (that isn't a Vekoma). Giga is next and these other two parks cannot compete with that. -

What I see is that KI is really only missing 2 major coasters: a giga, and a really good, intense (multi)launch coaster. However, we do have 2 launch coasters, so the focus will most likely be on giga. Flat/dark/water rides are always good additions, but teasing this early would be very surprising. One more thing, giga coasters are incredibly fast and can be incredibly long. Most of us are assuming that the station is by Diamondback, when in reality, it could be nearly anywhere on the east or south side of the park. We'll just have to wait and see which of our predictions are correct and which will have fallen with the trees Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Anyone think any records will be broken? I could honestly see "World's longest roller coaster" coming back to KI, especially if we get a giga Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Anyone know how big Mack launch coaster footers are? Are they about this size or smaller? And for the tweet, can anybody actually see anything? I screenshot it and played with colors but it's still pretty hard to see what's there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Plus, Fury 325 is getting called "the best coaster ever" by many people so why not try to top it. It would be a great hype coaster as well as packing a punch with a great ride Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Not to mention on Instagram to day KI put 2 back-to-back posts, the first about RFYLCB and the second about the railroad. I think somebody's been reading this thread... -

I found this on Google Earth and I don't know about you guys, but that seems like a very large area with a lot of trees to fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It does seem like space for a flat ride but as somebody mentioned earlier, it would be strange to start teasing for one this soon. I take back my earlier statement of it being a dark ride. I feel like there would not be too many trees torn down for that. By the way, does anybody know how much space there is between there and Soak City? I feel like there's a ton of space there, plus space all back by Diamondback and The Beast if it has enough momentum to take it all the way out there and back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Technically, wouldn't that be considered a giga? -

Anyone remember how Cedar Fair trademarked the name "Centurion" (correct me if I'm wrong) when they trademarked Fury 325? Think this might be a possible candidate for a name or is that too far off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I know it says "Watch for falling trees" which makes you think of a wooden coaster, but by the same logic, Banshees teasers said something like "Area under surveillance" or something which would indicate a theater or "NSA: The Ride." Personally, I'm hoping for a Mack multi launch that would be all around crazy like Blue Fire. I would prefer an Intamin multi launch like Mav, but sadly I don't think that will happen. A B&M giga is the next logical coaster, but it seems like this isn't the area to put one. Personally, I believe it'll be a triotech dark ride, with a giga coming in 2 years. What really gets me is that people are defending them. How can you defend them? They had 3 fences to cross, any of which they could turn back at, as well as the bottom of the stairs of the slide and right before going down. That's 5 chances they had to turn back but instead they decided to do all this and break the law. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2015 KIC Off Season Poll Series Week XVII: Future of River Town
DiamondBanshee replied to BB1's topic in KI Polls
Still hoping for a Mack launch, possible having the station in the old crypt building and having a beginning like Blue Fire with all the lights and smoke and such Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I honestly don't mind if it's just one person trying to catch up and they ask to get past you nicely. I can't stand when groups send one person while the rest go to the bathroom, etc. then like 5 of them barge in and say that they have people up front. If you really are one person, ask nicely! Don't be rude! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

People who "know everything about roller coasters and the park" but think that "all the roller coasters are dangerous because (x number of people) died from (take your pick of gruesome deaths) on (any ride in the park)." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Scooby Doo Ride was great, emphasis on WAS. The guns work sporadically at best, half the animatronics don't even work, and the first half is boring, while the skeleton part even gives me the creeps. That building had a good run, but I think it should come down (that or the ride inside should be taken out). Maybe even use the building for a new shoot em up. Anyone know how much room that building takes up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would love a new roller coaster as much as the next guy (or gal) but KI really just needs to update everything. Go a year or two without adding anything but just repainting everything and perhaps restoring each section of the park to its former (themed) glory. I know this would take a while and cost a lot, but the park desperately needs it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I like the idea of it coming down. I've been up there multiple times in the past 2 years, and never once was it open. Let's face it, it had problems, and Cedar Point needs more space for new rides. This seems to be an obvious choice to take down and opens a pretty good amount of space for something new. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This might seem odd, but I think a Mack launch (like Maverick or Helix) would be a great addition back there. I know FoF is right there, but if you've ever been on a blitz coaster, it's a totally different experience. I think it would be cool if it darted through the woods and interacted with the terrain. Plus bathrooms are a necessity back there. I just want to make clear that I know Maverick is Intamin. I was just giving an example of what I'd like to see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which coaster do you want to come next.
DiamondBanshee replied to Beasttamer's topic in Coming Attractions
Hey everyone. I've been a long time reader, first time poster. I think that Kings Island will get a B&M Giga next, since it is the only one of the "Big Parks" in the Cedar Fair chain without one. That said, what I would really like would be a Mack blitz coaster, much like Helix (since the whole Intaim blitz thing seems like it won't happen). Even though there is FoF, there needs to be a new, intense launch. What I would really like would be if it was back by The Beast, darting around the woods, taking advantage of the terrain. It doesn't have to be tall (<100 even), but it would have to be fast (70+ MPH). Maybe even a double launch like Maverick. Plus, I think it would be interesting if the top of the ride just came above the trees, but just for a split second before diving back down to the terrain. Preferably it would have 3+ inversions. That's just what I would really want to see in the next few years.- 185 replies
