Yeah, thats close. The exact positioning is tough. I've tried to lay it out over maps for days now, and can't find a clean path. Part of the problem is the satellite images are wonky. Lay a bing map over a google and you can't can't scale them to make them match. So that makes fitting it in next to impossible. I suspect that the the station/shed "loop" will border the reservoir, the ride's bridge(area between north and south abutments) will go over the train tracks, and somehow it will fish its way through the lower part of Diamondback. But honestly, i can't make it fit using the info I've seen and the maps I have. I think the coaster's bridge is probably the key to locating it, but I could see it bridging at least 3 different obstacles. It's hard to tell from the images, but I used a UTM topographical map first, then overlaid the layout, then overlaid the satellite imagery. I agree that the bridge span is the real variable. I figured once we see them break ground it will be easier position everything. -

I don't know, man. They put a lot of good information out there (this time) so they can't be that bad. Would you pick Buzz over TPR? I mean, that's the big two... -

Okay, so using the abutment plans, this scale and orientation is accurate. Location is questionable. [i was using SketchUp, so it's not as pretty as a Photoshop overlay.] -

So, Wing Coaster confirmed? -

I'm watching it for the images. I've got a pretty good understanding of the engineering and drawings after 6 years of school. -

Double. That Coaster-Net video had a lot of good information. Thanks for the heads up! -

Have we abandoned the "North" indicator on the permit? -

I never really realized how simplistic the design of Outlaw Run was. The POV videos don't give much information. -

Has anyone taken the time to use satellite images to show accurate positions of clearings and survey lines/stakes? -
That didn't go where I was expecting it to go...

KI just tweeted about rolling out barrels. Take that however you want. -
What if The Beast only saw enough work to run Millennium Flyer trains? Obviously, as Wildcat showed us, you can't just put new trains on and call it a day. But they could, in theory, make the necessary profile and gauge adjustments to run flyers. Disclaimer: I like PTC more than the MF trains, but I bet a lot of people would prefer the comfort of the GCI trains.

I used a topographical map for alignment and scale, and Bing/Google satellite images for transferring that idea to something more easily understood visually. Unfortunately, those images are at work, and I don't have Photoshop here to recreate that process. Edit: And as someone mentioned steel ties, that could simply be in that location where there is a bridge abutment. We don't have much detail beyond that ~20ft section of track. -

That seems awfully huge. Are you sure you scaled properly given the coordinates in the Area of Work on the plan? [i'm also not entirely sure your elevations match, but I'm going by a very inaccurate topo map.] -

The coordinate system is pretty simple. But you need to know the origin to place the ride correctly. If you are so inclined to post images, I'd suggest hosting the images on another site (photobucket, imgur, facebook). I don't know if the KIC TOS has issue with that, though. I have only seen the brief footage of the Area of Work in the video posted a few pages back, and from there I used that to get the scale of the ride. I'm pretty sure those elevations are listed for the top of each foundation, and for the top of the abutment. If you or OldSchool want to share them with me, I would gladly take a look. That makes me wonder if they would attempt to put Millennium Flyers on The Beast. I'm guessing the capacity would drop to about 30 per train, if GCI will run a 15-car train. Perhaps they will profile it to help reduce the wear on the track? -

I might go the Private Massage route. ...or is it Message? -
I wouldn't be sad if they lost Stunt Track. What I'd love to see is a way to connect X-Base to the rest of the park so that it's not a dead end. Perhaps they will relocate some of the maintenance sheds behind racer and connect to the end of Coney Mall near WindSeeker and Dinosaurs.

By the time I get back to Kings Island, we will know pretty much everything. Until then I am going to use my Super Detective Powers (and Photoshop) on the little information I have to make sense of the ride and location. -

But "Timberhawk" is too long, so that's a good sign. -

Unless the plans we have are inaccurate, we know the scale of the ride. It covers about 2700ft from the plan view we are given. This should translate to the neighborhood of 3500ft (+/-) of track when elevation is included. I think more area is being cleared as there will be a new section of midway giving access to this ride and WWC. -

I think there is enough information released between images and the youtube footage of the plans that we really don't need anyone to upload the full sheet. Sure, it would be nice, but at this point I don't think anything is missing. -

I hate to quote my own post, but after seeing the scale listed on the detailed closeup, I converted that to a full scale for the ride and what I have here is actually pretty close to the scale provided on the permits. So, we know scale and orientation. Now we need confirmation on location. -

Using the UTM coordinates from the approximate location for the "area of work" on the diagram, puts an origin point near Sharon Nursery and I-71. -

If the scale of the station is accurate, this seems a little on the small side.
