Of course we want to hear and see the rest of your trip report! Why wouldn`t we? You`re trip reports are always nice to read!

I just wish that Ride Warrior Weekend hadn`t happened only in 2009. It was a really fun event, and I missed it in 2010. Hopefully we could see it return in some form in 2011.

Well, to be fair then, it got its current color scheme under the Paramount days (it was repainted its current color scheme for 1999 when Adventure Village became The Paramount Action Zone.

Disney World Reports Flat Attendance

Very true. Not to mention about poor quality with high prices, as is often the case at food establishments at KI! -

I actually ate at the Gold Star in New Richmond about a month ago. The first time I had eaten at Gold Star in probably 10+ years. It wasn`t by choice. I was on my way back from a design meeting out in Ripley, OH with several co-workers and the president of the firm I work at. That`s where the majority wanted to eat at. And, I cant complain that the president picked up the bill for lunch. -
I understand being supportive of a ride, but do we really have to lace our posts with so many puns about a coaster staying on the right track, Terpy? As an aside, in my tenure at Coney, about the ONLY ride that has NOT been painted has been my beloved Wheel. And it has had rust spots showing on it for years. Some rides (like the helicopters) have been painted two or three times since I started working at Coney! I want my ride to get painted! It has received new lights since I started working there. But it only got half as many new lights as the lights they replaced. (It is now just a star formation, while it used to be a star and a circle formation of lights).

Well, I ate at Skyline today, and noticed that the price of a 3-way (at a company owned store) had increased from $4.99 (where it was in the summer) to $5.19. That actually matches the price that a franchise owned Skyline also near me had this summer, so they are now the same price. (I ate at the franchise one the other day, and they are still at the $5.19 price). Yes, it stinks that prices went up twenty cents, but at least it is still a reasonable price for the food. Its not like the $6 3 ways that Kings Island`s Skyline has for what equates to a small 3-way in a regular Skyline. -
Another well crafted post Jesse! I too hope that WindSeeker gets a nice lighting package. Apparently the one at Cedar Point is supposed to get a nice lighting package. Hopefully, that is uniform with all four WindSeekers. Although, I could see Cedar Point`s getting some special treatment since Cedar Point is the flagship park (and they aren`t repaving an entire midway with pavers either).

I wear my glasses when I go on my coasters. There are a few rides that I don`t trust my glasses normally with, and then wear a strap. Of course, one ride that I was told I HAD to remove my glasses, even with the strap, was Nighthawk at Carowinds. Even though their map said that glasses could be worn on that ride, provided they were secured with an athletic strap. I have ridden Top Thrill Dragster with the strap on my glasses, no problem. And then Interpreter will tell you that at Knott`s, glasses are all but forbidden on most rides. Even when secured with a strap!

And not everyone is a fan of Lord of the Rings. I was never really into LotR. I was far more into Harry Potter than Lord of the Rings. And I`m not going to lie, I read every single Harry Potter book. (Over one summer while also working 40+ hours a week). And I am also not going to lie when I say I would love to get down to Islands of Adventure and experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in person. -
Ultra violet rays from the sun can be treacherous on materials. (And not just fading paint either, but even building materials have been known to break down if not protected from the sun`s ultra violet rays). It is the ultra violet rays that is in part responsible for the fading of colors. Take a look at Invertigo, and you will notice that its once shiny red has faded to a pink color. Certain colors are more prone to fading than others (reds and purples are notorious for fading quicker, but it also depends on the chemical make up and grade of the paint.

Amen! A ride with just painted rails is certainly a LOT better than said ride being completely removed!

Disney World Reports Flat Attendance

Other than the renovations going on at Magic Kingdom, and the new Little Mermaid ride at Disney`s Hollywood Studios, are there any new E ticket attractions planned at Walt Disney World? Part of the problem, I think, is that Island`s of Adventure opened a big new project, and mos of the Disney parks down there are relying on their newest offerings being a couple years old. I mean, what was the newest thing that has been added to EPCOT, besides that new Italian restaurant? At Animal Kingdom, I`m pretty sure it was Expedition Everest, and that is a few years old now (I rode it back in September of 2008). It is hard to compete with a shiny new toy, when all of your newest toys are a few years old. -
SIX Brings Snow to Vallejo

One that is in its fourth season. And seems to be doing quite well. Granted, the weather is a lot more amusement park friendly this time of year in California compared to in Cincinnati. -
I know. When I was doing research for my thesis document years ago and came across that term, I had to do a double take. It doesn`t seem to be in character for a Disney term. But that is how they spell it. Having met an Imagineer at EPCOT before, it is simply amazing the amount of time and energy they put into designing their attractions down there. No detail is too small. They often redesign queues for rides, after they see the actual operations of the ride, and what people will do. (Ie, will adding a wall, block a view that will enhance the experience and keep people from ducking under a rope? Or are people`s hands wearing down a certain material, that they need to replace with a more durable material.) All stuff that most seasonal amusement parks do not have the time or resources to pursue.
-
And the Disney Imagineering term for that focal point is a "weenie." They define a "weenie" as: "Lead visitors from one area to another by creating visual magnets and giving visitors rewards for making the journey."

A pavilion at Kings Island? Keep in mind that Coney Mall at Kings Island is not a straight line. it actually is two lines that rotate. The rotation occurs right at the area where there is a circular row of trees near the Zephyr entrance and the lucky striker game.

I do not know. River Down`s parking lots are used for concert parking at Riverbend (in addition to Coney`s lots). It will certainly be interesting to see what changes this new owner does to the complex. I believe that their undeveloped acreage is actually an open field on the NORTH side of Kellogg Avenue, which is used for parking at the sold out Riverbend shows. If they eventually develop that, there could be a parking shortage during Riverbend shows.

SWO Aims To Fill Christmas Niche

I wish I could break away for a trip down there. I have never been to a Busch or Sea World park yet! -
Read more on Cincinnati.com here: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101126/BIZ01/311260009/River-Downs-sold-for-45-million This was first reported in the news back about a month ago, but was never officially confirmed. (See this topic: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22937)

SWO Aims To Fill Christmas Niche
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I`m a little surprised by the revenue number. Three of its ten properties account for nearly 50% of their operating income? That seems a little high to me. It still amazes me that these year round parks continue to enhance and extend their Christmas celebrations, while it remains a relatively untapped market in the seasonal park market, save for a few Six Flags parks and the Herschend Family Entertainment properties. Yes, the weather this time of year is not the greatest, but it sure seems like some of these parks could earn additional income during these two months. Although, I think it is safe to say we will not see Winterfest returning to KI anytime soon. -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
And as with anything that is posted over there, things can and do change. Lance even admitted that it may be a "dream rumor" so take it with a grain of salt. Personally, I think the days of that ride (even if retracked with that new track system) are over. Why? That ride simply is not a marketable ride for the park anymore that can bring in revenue. The ROI simply is not there. And given the rides connotation with the public, some things are better laid to rest. -
You would be correct. And if I had to guess, I`d say we may very well see it removed, in order for a uniform paving device (concrete pavers most likely) to be utilized throughout Coney Mall.
-
I never post just to be posting, and I have made the second most number of posts here on KIC. And yes, they are based on the number of posts. I`m not certain the exact rankings, but I know there have been other topics on the very subject.

Vortex doesn`t really need more of a queue, due to its high capacity, At one point in time, (I`m not certain if it was still around when Vortex opened) but there were additional queues located below the station platform (below the existing queues that are in the station). Up until a few years ago, you could still see the steps that went down to this queue area. The steps were removed a few seasons ago.
