  1. It looks like you had a fun time. Again, if I had the time and money, I`d love to go to several parks, including Six Flags Magic Mountain. But I think I will be hitting up other Six Flags before I make a trek out to the west coast. There are some that are closer to home and noteworthy in their own right that would lend themselves to having a great adventure.
  2. Still, regardless of who operates them, they will become dirty after a while. I just wonder how long that thing will pull in paying patrons. After a while, the novelty will wear off and people will not want to spend $7 to do that. And the fact that its location is in an out of the way/not heavily foot trafficked area could lead to missed revenue opportunities. Having worked Eurobungy Dome at Coney, which opened in 2008, there was a steep fall off in its popularity last year. Even with Coney only charging $5 with a rides/picnic wristband/season pass or $6 without a wristband. In fact, Coney instituted a 2 for 1 deal during Monday through Thursday allowing guests to buy two Eurobungy tickets for $6 to boost its popularity.
  3. Actually, most Six Flags parks now require that you have NO loose articles with you in line for most of their coasters. You most stow items with a non-rider or place them in lockers (conveniently located at the entrances to the rides with this requirement). There are NO places or storage cabinets in the ride station for loose articles like there are at Kings Island. Speaking about storage bins, The Vortex has received the same type of storage bins that Diamondback got last year.
  4. I agree. I typically have my phone set to pager mode, so that way if it does go off, you only hear it vibrating. Of course, I`ve missed some calls this way too, since I didn`t hear it vibrating. And on the subject of cell phones at school, if you aren`t allowed to have them, then you shouldn`t be bringing them to school. Especially if your phone has a tendancy to turn on and off by itself. As Oldiesmann said, if I get a text and am too busy to read it right then and there, I will check it when I have the free time to do so.
  5. One day I hope to finally make it down to Six Flags Over Georgia. I`ve heard nothing but great things about that park and the rides located there.
  6. Well, to be fair, the water is only about 18" deep. And since water is self leveling, it would be pretty hard for the entire bubble to fill with water, unless the entire thing was deflating. I just do not get what the appeal of doing such a thing would be. Especially once it gets hot out. I`d imagine inside those bubbles with no ventilation would be a very hot experience.
  7. Thay may have been the case for some of the slices. And yes,I did see some plates that had two slices of pizza that were a lot smaller than others. I grabbed the biggest two pieces I could see to ensure that I was getting my moneys worth. Regardless, $5.79 for two slices of pizza is still better than Carowinds $4.30 for ONE slice of pizza.
  8. Yes we do. If I remember to post about it tomorrow after work, I will do that. I would do it tonight, but I think I`m heading off to bed already. It will be nice to experience those new trains, and to try out Pilgrim`s Plunge.
  9. Maybe I can join in on that Holiday World trip now that the unexpected delay with the Timberliner trains has been unleashed! It`s been many years since I`ve been to Holiday World (the year the Voyage was new).
  10. Nice PTR Brad! Hopefully, I will be able to join in on the Holiday World trip if it is pushed back in order to experience the new Timberliner trains. (I have training down at Coney on May 1st to kick off my ninth year there). The only thing that really hampered the day in anyway was the shear size of the crows at the park. It was a lot busier than I anticipated, given the cool temperatures. But the sun was out the entire day, so it was a nice day, it just wasn`t as nice temperature wise as the rest of the week had been. I know I got a little sun burn from Saturday!
  11. Great trip report Jesse. Its always fun spending the day with you. I had a great time on Saturday with you, Brad and Sean. Hopefully, we can do it again sometime soon!
  12. It would be really cool. Especially if they continue to keep lighting the front of the tower with those bright lights that have been shining on the front of the tower since 2005. Just imagine how it would look if both the front and back were lit, even if the back was lit differently. On the subject of the park maps, they can and do have different park maps fr different times of year. Many years back they put the dates on the front of the maps, but they no longer do that.
  13. Well, technically you should not be reaching your hands out thatfar on the ride, let alone turning your head back to look at the scoops.
  14. Relax. It was opening day. The sound of Diamondback and other rides at Kings Island and other parks depends on the temperature and humidity. I'm sure you will hear it again syenite warmer out.
  15. Keep in mind it could have something to do with the force at which the water is hitting your arm!
  16. A 3-way from Skyline in Coney Mall will set you back about $6.50. I`m not certain what the prices at Skyline were last year so I can`t really comment on that.
  17. Well keep in mind that we do not know when this new night time show will open. (If I had to take a guess, I`d say late May or early June, as that is when the rest of the lives shows begin running as well). That being said, the park still has a month to prepare this new show during the week, when the park is closed. Also, consider it a pleasant surprise, since most people thought that all KI was getting this season was a Planet Snoopy and Boo Blasters on Boo Hill!
  18. Some other changes that I noticed today. It appears that the ride crew at the train are sporting new uniforms. They are more similar to the overalls that the engineers actually driving the train wear. And, it appears that the train will be receiving some new railroad ties, as there were several ties located on the side of the tracks throughout the ride.
  19. I noticed that as well. I suppose they were going for the alliteration in the ride name?
  20. I agree, the crowds were rather large. That coupled with the expected downtime with some major rides that comes with opening day resulted in some lengthy waits. Diamondback was at forty five minutes with a full queue most of the day. But, on the flipside, I also witnessed many long lines for people buying food. So the park was clearly making lots of money today, which is also good.
  21. We didn`t eat at the Skyline on International Street. We ate at the one in Coney Mall. One other change that was noticed in Coney Mall is that the Eurobungy is gone, replaced by a EuroBobble. Not sure what a EuroBobble is? (I would link to the Eurobungy site, but it appears to be down at the moment). Imagine a pool of shallow water. On top of said pool, imagine giant bubbles that people get inside of. They can run around in it, and not move very far, kind of like a hamster ball. Here is a link to a YouTube video showcasing the EuroBobble:
  22. The 3D glasses are $1, and were being sold in the queue area. Not sure about the Carnevil Glasses. I too didn`t quite get the forest scene at the end and how it connected to the previous scenes. The skeleton scene in Kings Island`s version is a lot bigger and longer than the scene in Carowinds version, and I like the scene with Boocifer, something that Carowinds lacked.
  23. I didn`t even notice the increased price on lockers by Firehawk. (I did ride Flight of Fear first thing in the morning.) What I did notice, however, was that two slices of cheese pizza and a 20oz. Coke cost me $10.10. While that seems high, that was cheaper than the $13 and change I paid for the exact same thing at Carowinds on their opening weekend. There, once slice of pizza was in the $4.30 range! At Kings Island, two slices of cheese pizza cost $5.79, still high but better than the Carowinds price.
  24. The Red Racer was indeed closed all day today. And White Water Canyon was still open around 9:15 pm. The park was extremely busy most of the day. And one can expect rides to have some bugs to work out on the first day of the season. Its the first time that they`ve been running for twelve straight hours in a while. The cold and brisk wind throughout the day certainly didn`t help things with some certain rides.
  25. But Coca-Cola was likely the one sponsoring that as part of their promotions. I know that Mountain Dew has given some samples out at Coney before, and they were not related in anyway to Coney.
