Always nice to post such wonderful historical videos! Thank you very much!

Wow. I knew Cedar Fair had been trading up after the merger had been called off, but didn`t know the price had gone that high yesterday! I wonder why the volume was so high? It also should be noted that Rick Munarriz over at the Motley Fool posted an upbeat snippet on Cedar Fair on Friday, and can be read here: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2010/04/09/this-weeks-5-smartest-stock-moves.aspx.

Yep. It is definitely a great cause. And I know that in years past the Joe that the event was named after has been at the actual event.

Need I remind you of the blue B&M coaster up at America`s roller coast? Everyone is bound to make a mistake from time to time.

Sorry, for the triple post. But I have yet another minor update. It seems that one of Coney`s major rides is getting a little TLC in the form of a paint job. The paint job still won`t allow this snake to even compare in anyway with the much larger snake named coaster up at Kings Island.

Yep. The link that was posted to the respone by Dane is pretty accurate. The state investigated the Flight Commander incident and found that there was a design flaw, which as stated above, allowed single riders to slide out from their restraints. A new seat divider was added allowing the ride to reopen. But ridership was low even after its removal, thus the ride was short lived at Kings Island (it opened in 1990). Slective, consider this your warning. Making blatant claims and statements like you have in this thread with nothing to back up those claims can find you in murky waters. Especially claiming stuff to be fact that you do not know the entire story. If you are trying to stir the pot and cause trouble, your time here on KICentral will be short lived. And on the subject of the Flying Eagles. It was announced by Kings Island back in 2004 that they were being removed and sent down to Carowinds. I have ridden that ride years and years at Kings Island and most recently a couple weeks ago at opening weekend at Carowinds. It is the same ride. Carowinds has taken very good care of the Eagles down at Carowinds (they`ve been painted twice already in five years!). Now if only we could get them back to Kings Island.

And unless they have upgraded the lights, I`m pretty sure that they are NOT LEDs in the fountains. Although, combined with the lighting package on The Eiffel Tower, an LED light package in the fountains could make for some breath taking special effects!

Q HAD DISCUSSED MERGING CEDAR FAIR WITH SIX FLAGS
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Yep. He left shortly after IAAPA that year. He remains employed at Schlitterbahn though. And he still makes visits to Cincinnati. In fact, he stopped by Coney one day last year. And I know because I was working in the ticket booth and sold him and his family their rides wristbands that day! -
Q HAD DISCUSSED MERGING CEDAR FAIR WITH SIX FLAGS

Yes, they have 35 parks to maintain. But one would also think the capital expenditure budget would also increase. Although, the sum is not always equal to the parts. Cedar Fair spends less now on cap. ex. than what Paramount/Cedar Fair did before Cedar Fair bought Paramount. -
Rock Band Live Coming to Kings Island (Confirmed)

Cross threading? Seriously. Is that like grafting? I actually saw it on "Ask This Old House" where they grafted one type of plant onto the seedling stem of an apple tree. So the roots and base were of an apple tree, but the top was of another type of tree. -
GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?

I still find it odd that they are going ahead with the public vote on this when they haven`t even worked out the deal with Cedar Fair yet, considering Cedar Fair holds the lease to the land in question. -
And few realize that originally Coney once served Coca-Cola as well. One of the early owners of Coney was also associated with the Coca-Cola bottler here in town. William O. Mashburn, was originally from Atlanta. He was associated with Rudolph Hynicka when they took over ownership of Coney in 1924. Hynicka was the president of Coney Island Inc, with Schott secretary and Mashburn vice president. That same year, Coke became the official soft drink of Coney.

I wasn`t as lucky. Pass worked fine at Carowinds opening day, and did not work at all the second day. Spent ten minutes at admissions services. I did eventually get in, unlike some people who chose to leave...
-
Yep. Although, it actually operated at Kings Island longer (1972-2004, 32 years) compared to when it was at Coney (1940-1971, 31 years).

And be careful, the lead time on getting your pass port can be several weeks. -
Now if only that ride could find its way back to its true home...

I wonder if thats just a Pizza Hut thing, because I know the Target that I used to work at would through out pizza after a certain amount of time too.
-
Don`t amusement park places subscribe to the freshness guarantee. I know the Pizza Hut at TUC on UC`s campus would be slow in the afternoons. They`d print out a time stamp on the food. If you went to get pizza or breadsticks, and it was after the time printed on the sticker, you could get fresh pizza. Which also meant you had to wait for it to be made, but its better than pizza thats been sitting there for ages. Too bad the parks don`t seem to do this as well.
-
Very true. And if I am going to get Cinnabon, I would want a hot and fresh one, not one that has already been pre-packaged. I don`t anticipate buying food in the park most times I go, simply because it is so expensive. I`d rather go through the hassle of leaving the park, and driving to a restaurant outside the park than pay the in park prices. Especially after I spent $13 for two slices of pizza and a 20oz drink at Carowinds a couple weeks ago! As an aside, I wonder if the Skyline locations at Kings Island will be offering the Walking 3 ways that the Cincinnati Zoo and Reds Skylines are now offering.

Those are nice deals, but I still wish that they had a meal deal for individuals.

Rock Band Live Coming to Kings Island (Confirmed)

Interesting. I wonder where this show will be held in the park. International Showplace perhaps? -
I have not yet made it out to Disneyland or California Adventure yet. Some day I hope to get out there. Some day when I have the money and time to make a west coast trip, I will find my way out there!
-
Nope. That didn`t help. Now I have BOTH songs stuck in my head!
-
And besides, its no worse than "Coney Has it!" "We got the Scream Machine, and the bumper cars. So much to see and do. The price is right for your mom and dad. Coney has it, Coney Has it, Coney has it. Yeah, yeah, yeah." Dang it. Got the song stuck in my head again!
