Like I said before, I love Millennium Force. I rode it just last year. Yes, some rides do not age very gracefully. I don`t think that Millennium Force is one of those rides. I still love that ride, and would gladly ride that ride anytime the opportunity presented itself. I much prefer Millennium Force over Maverick, and I know I may be in the minority with that opinion.

I`m just saying. While April 1st is known as a prank day, there are real news stories and items that do go out. Don`t immediately assume everything that you read on April 1st is a prank. This may not be a prank. I hope its not. But if it is, it is not a good move, in my opinion. Blogs and Facebook forums like the 5 at 5 are a way for the park to communicate with its fans and build excitement. Especially in this day and age of social networking.

Well, its not really fair to judge a book by its cover. So until you have experienced Intimidator 305, don`t write it off as being a not good ride. I LOVE Millennium Force at Cedar Point. Some people do not like the ride. Everyone has their own opinions. I hope to be able to make it out to Kings Dominion this year and try out Intimidator 305 to see how it stacks up against Millennium Force. And, I haven`t been to Kings Dominion since the year 2000, so I`m long over due to make a trek out there.

But... Look at Cedar Point`s website which has (or had) a blog built into it. They posted a similar message on their website stating that they too were discontinuing their blog.

I believe that you can upgrade your Kings Island or Kings Island Gold Pass into a Platinum Pass. You will likely pay the difference between what a Platinum Pass is currently selling for and how much you paid for your original pass for this year. Ie, if you paid $80 for your pass, and a Platinum pass is $150 right now, you could upgrade for $70. But of course, I`d call the park, or ask when you go up their to process. They will know the specific arrangements about upgrading passes.

Or is it a sign of the times? Remember what is scheduled to happen in one week. Seems like a missed marketing opportunity if the blogs do disappear.

Cedar Point: The FUN and Only
CoastersRZ replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, try telling Bengals fans that there are no jungles in Cincinnati in football season! Yes, it was a typo. My bad. We all make mistakes every now and then! -
Cedar Point: The FUN and Only

Personally, I still like Coney`s old slogan prior to the current "Coney Has It!" slogan. It was "Coney Island, where fun is easy" But Coney didn`t have a catchy jungle or song to go along with it. And remember, Coney`s long standing, although seldom used any more, slogan is "Coney Island, America`s Finest Amusement Park." But that was back in the 50`s and 60s when Coney was the park in the state of Ohio and perhaps even the country. Remember, Walt Disney did visit Coney when he was getting ideas about Disneyland. Don`t even ask me to break out the lyrics for the Coney Has it song! My problem with the "Fun and only" campaign is that it just doesn`t have a nice ring to it, in my opinion. I mean, Cedar Point, America`s roller coast has a nice pop to it. So did the former "Paramount`s Kings Island: The best of Hollywood entertainment now playing" and " -
Speaking of Fall O Ween, according to Coney`s operating calendar, the Fall O Ween Festival is slated to be extended to three weekends this year, as opposed to the typical two weekends the last several years. It will be held the last weekend in September and the first two weekends in October.
-
Well lets put it this way. Carowinds Action Theater was open last weekend. And it was NOT showing a new movie. That being said, it remains to be seen what will happen with Kings Island`s Action theater.

I think I might be. I don`t know what shelter exactly was used for Camp Coney as that is part of the recreation department, which is separate from the rides department. And besides, I rarely work the Python (although I did work it during Fall O Ween one day last year as we were short employees).
-
You mean for construction of PNC Pavilion? Nope. That shelter area was not touched. In fact, before Fall O Ween last year, that area was keeping many of the corn stalks dry as preparations were made for Fall O Ween Festival. I know, because I loaded several of those stalks onto a cart on a very rainy and damp day, and they were most definitely under a shelter. EDIT: Quite editing your posts! It causing me to have to keep editing my posts, lol!

Construction Underway on Kings Island Drive
CoastersRZ replied to Thane Of Price Hill's topic in Kings Island
That is good. It certainly needed it. Here`s a question that I do NOT know the answer to. When was the last time that the parking lot was repaved? I`m sure that the layer of asphalt that is down in the main parking lot is not the original asphalt from 1972 (otherwise it would be in impeccable condition for being nearly 40 years old!) -

Well, that is good. Hopefully they repave a good portion of that exit road near the exit. It was becoming quite a great adventure to leave the parking lot while avoiding the pot holes. You weren`t bored for things to do at lunch were you? -
And see my edited post! I wonder if this will not be the pavilion on the east side of the Python by where the old tennis and volleyball courts used to be at.
-
What new shelter are you talking about by the Python? Are you referring to the park map on Coney`s website, because that is not highly accurate. EDIT: It looks like you edited your post when I was posting. I wonder where this will be located at exactly. I haven`t actually been down to Coney yet this year.

Cedar Point: The FUN and Only

That date is quickly approaching too. In fact, it is next Thursday! -
To quote the SNL skit: "Cheeseborger, cheeseborger, cheesborger. Coke, no Pepsi. Chips, no fries."

Cedar Point: The FUN and Only
CoastersRZ replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, I could launch into a whole discussion about how they are trying to develop a product that is similar across all their markets at the cost of the traits that make each park unique. (Has anyone read Kenneth Frampton`s work on Critical Regionalism? This is a big item in the theory of architecture right now as many communities are loosing their sense of place because of retailers building generic buildings that match their prototype designs, and thus lack any significant ties to the local context/community.) But alas, I do not want to delve into the theory of architecture tonight. I think it is still a missed opportunity that Cedar Fair decided to go with unifying logos when they bought the Paramount Parks, instead of creating unique identifying logos, which is what they had done with their parks prior to the PP purchase. I so would have liked to see KI`s original logo make a return as the official logo. But alas that did not happen. Who knows what the future will hold though. -
Very true. Traveling to parks can be expensive. And it can be difficult to plan trips when you do not know how long your current job will last, or when you will be able to take a day off other than Saturday and Sunday. But that is a better option to have, than having no job whatsoever, or working the graveyard shift at a local Target store unloading the trucks.

Cedar Point: The FUN and Only
CoastersRZ replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I`m still surprised that Kings Island never used the slogan "Ride on" that Carowinds has used last year and this year. That still seems better than "The fun and only." Of course, I think "fun and only" is better than "Coney has it!" Don`t even ask me the lyrics to the Coney song, because I could recite them, as they play the song after EVERY live show, and when Sunlite pool opens everyday. -
I got a few pictures of Planet Snoopy, that I may upload tomorrow. The area really looked great. Lots of bright colors. And kids were excited to see Snoopy and friends when we walked by on our way to Woodstock`s Gliders or Afterburn.

And that is why you need to check out Coney Island Central! We have dozens of pictures of the rides in there, including historical pictures. If you have any historical pictures from Coney Island and are willing to share them, let me know. And keep checking Coney Island Central. There will be some updates in the coming days.

Oh, but Coney does have dances still. See this page: http://www.coneyislandpark.com/dances.php.
