I was part of "Dane`s crew" that you saw exiting Flight of Feat. I had on the Disney shirt and had the glasses.

Can you save the PDF with the eTickets? If so, then you could save the PDF and take it to your parents house. Do you not have a printer to print them, or do you not have Adobe Acrobat Reader to read PDF files? You can download the Acrobat Reader free from Adobe`s site if that is the issue.

Believe me, all the ride foundations at Kings Island and for any building are generally designed by a licensed structural engineer. Before designing the foundations, they usually will do soil core testing. The soil core testing essentially involves a survey crew drilling and coring a sample of the soil on the site. This is then taken back to the lab and analyzed. A soils report is produced detailing the different types of soil in the area, its bearing capacity, depth to bedrock, what type of rock the bed rock is, how much load it can bear per square foot, etc. The structural engineers then use this information to properly design the foundations for the type of structure being built and the loads that it will have to endure. On larger sites, they will do multiple soil core locations so that they get a better understanding of how the soil varies within the site so that all the foundations are adequately designed. Because of the amount of research and design that goes into designing foundations, most of the rumors about rides or buildings sinking, are just that. Rumors. granted, there may be some differential settlement, when areas of a building may settle slightly due to the loads of the building. This only poses a problem (in the forms of cracked drywall, and doors getting stuck because the frame is out of plum, etc.) when the settlement occurs at different rates over the length of the building. Is that enough of a lesson on Halloween on foundation design?

Busch Does More Than Just Recycling...

I actually got to see a hydrogen bus in person at the GreenBuild conference last November in Chicago. It is amazing how quite the hydrogen bus is when it is running. You can`t even tell that the motor is on! -
I know that that was a perk last year for purchasing your season pass. However, I`m not certain if that will be a perk this year or not. Check out Coney`s season pass page here.

In spite of the cold? Have you heard the forecast for this weekend, or read my post above that stated the forecast for this weekend? High temps are expected to be in the mid to low 60s. Hardly what I would consider cold, like we`ve had the beginning part of this week.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I suspect that the entrance path will now be relegated to the path immediately adjacent to the games building. The midway by The Crypt will likely be blocked off as that is where the final curve for Diamondback will be before the splashdown effect. -

As has been reported by others from the webcam, the islands of trees by The Beast entrance have been cleared of their trees in preparation for the last remaining footings to be placed for Diamondback. -

It also depends on how long it takes them to set up this additional crane. Keep in mind that it took them the better part of a day to set up the first large crawler crane "Clifford." EDIT: It looks like they have the second crane in place. This second crane is a white crane. -
Yeah. You would show up an hour early as you stated. Its still early in the day for me, lol! It also means that it will be dark on Sunday when the park closes at 7.

Well last year when the park was open for Halloween night, it was part of Bare Bones nights (Halloween was on a Thursday). Crowds were very light, but that was likely due to the day of the week and the fact that it was rather cold out. As far as this Friday goes, it all depends on the weather. It could be crazy crowded (the weather is supposed to be rather nice this Friday with a high around 65). In fact, the weather for this entire weekend is expected to be nice with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. Can`t beat that weather for the first weekend in November! Remember, anyone going to the park on Sunday, that daylight savings time ends at 2am on Sunday morning. So make sure to set your clocks back an hour, otherwise you will show up to the park an hour late!

Actually, they have not been attached the railings for the stairs on the lift yet. The portion of lift track that is in place does not have the railing in place yet. -
Coney set to Introduce Twister in 2009
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Yes, the Scream Machine was added in 2005. The new "attraction" in 2004 was Firelite Express, a decorated lawn mower that resembled a fire truck which pulled two trailers with guests around the paths behind the Dodgems and adjacent to the picnic groves. That particular attraction did NOT operate this year. -
Was it the park that cut it in half, or was it a casualty of Ike?
-
It said "Paramount`s Kings Island" on it. It was one of the things that was removed when all the Paramount names were removed from the park.

At KIC day, the guest speakers we had, including Jeff Gramke, stated that the height requirement for Diamondback would likely be 54" to be able to ride.

Ronald Walker purchased Coney Island in 1991 for $3.8 million. He passed away unexpectedly in 1997. The park is currently owned by his wife, Brenda Walker. Vic Nolting is the General Manager and president of Coney Island. He is the main guy in charge of the daily operations of the park. He has been at Coney since 1984. -

Six more photos from today are up in this photo gallery. The Rivertown midway was slightly smaller this weekend because of the large crane. -

CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Well, this past year saw the addition of the River Runner (relocated from Wild West World where it operated very briefly), the new Turtle Parade replaced Kiddie Circle Freeway, the Eurobungy Dome was new, and the slide and Frog Hopper were moved to new locations. 2007 saw the addition of the Rock O Plane. In 2006, the Cyclone slide was added at Sunlite Pool, and in 2005 the Scream Machine was added on the rides side. -
WOOD YOU BELIVE IT? CEDAR POINT
CoastersRZ replied to bsudude84's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, but just like Adventure Express, it has a wood structure supporting the steel track. Occasionally they have to replace the wood on the structure. -
Coney set to Introduce Twister in 2009

Coney Island Rocks, I worked at Coney on weekends only this summer. (I had a co-op job M-F that paid me twice what I earned per hour at Coney). On the weekends, I was essentially there from 11am to 9pm most weekends. No, Coney probably has no interest in having a winter event. Not to mention the fact that most of the stuff that gets winterized at Coney is easily moveable, in case the Ohio River floods. As far as I know, Coney is not under any restrictions with what they can build in terms of competing with Kings Island. I`m not sure if another amusement park has been closed because of its success, reopened the following year as a swimming facility only and later developed into a small amusement park again. It is definitely an interesting story. -

While the Dome is right next to the main entrance road, it is NOT located close to either of the two entrances to the pool. The west pool gate is located near the Pepsi Python, right across the main road from the rides ticket booth. I think the Eurobungy Dome did alright this season. I know I worked it some busy days when the myself and the person I was working with never had a chance to sit down the entire shift because we had a line the entire shift!
