I suspect that the entrance path will now be relegated to the path immediately adjacent to the games building. The midway by The Crypt will likely be blocked off as that is where the final curve for Diamondback will be before the splashdown effect.

As has been reported by others from the webcam, the islands of trees by The Beast entrance have been cleared of their trees in preparation for the last remaining footings to be placed for Diamondback.

It also depends on how long it takes them to set up this additional crane. Keep in mind that it took them the better part of a day to set up the first large crawler crane "Clifford." EDIT: It looks like they have the second crane in place. This second crane is a white crane.

Well last year when the park was open for Halloween night, it was part of Bare Bones nights (Halloween was on a Thursday). Crowds were very light, but that was likely due to the day of the week and the fact that it was rather cold out. As far as this Friday goes, it all depends on the weather. It could be crazy crowded (the weather is supposed to be rather nice this Friday with a high around 65). In fact, the weather for this entire weekend is expected to be nice with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. Can`t beat that weather for the first weekend in November! Remember, anyone going to the park on Sunday, that daylight savings time ends at 2am on Sunday morning. So make sure to set your clocks back an hour, otherwise you will show up to the park an hour late!

Actually, they have not been attached the railings for the stairs on the lift yet. The portion of lift track that is in place does not have the railing in place yet.

Yes, the Scream Machine was added in 2005. The new "attraction" in 2004 was Firelite Express, a decorated lawn mower that resembled a fire truck which pulled two trailers with guests around the paths behind the Dodgems and adjacent to the picnic groves. That particular attraction did NOT operate this year.

Well, this past year saw the addition of the River Runner (relocated from Wild West World where it operated very briefly), the new Turtle Parade replaced Kiddie Circle Freeway, the Eurobungy Dome was new, and the slide and Frog Hopper were moved to new locations. 2007 saw the addition of the Rock O Plane. In 2006, the Cyclone slide was added at Sunlite Pool, and in 2005 the Scream Machine was added on the rides side.

Coney Island Rocks, I worked at Coney on weekends only this summer. (I had a co-op job M-F that paid me twice what I earned per hour at Coney). On the weekends, I was essentially there from 11am to 9pm most weekends. No, Coney probably has no interest in having a winter event. Not to mention the fact that most of the stuff that gets winterized at Coney is easily moveable, in case the Ohio River floods. As far as I know, Coney is not under any restrictions with what they can build in terms of competing with Kings Island. I`m not sure if another amusement park has been closed because of its success, reopened the following year as a swimming facility only and later developed into a small amusement park again. It is definitely an interesting story.

While the Dome is right next to the main entrance road, it is NOT located close to either of the two entrances to the pool. The west pool gate is located near the Pepsi Python, right across the main road from the rides ticket booth. I think the Eurobungy Dome did alright this season. I know I worked it some busy days when the myself and the person I was working with never had a chance to sit down the entire shift because we had a line the entire shift!

They removed the Spin-A-Ree because its former location was needed to install the River Runner. I don`t know. While the Twister is a large investment, I`d imagine Coney will still add something in 2010, even if it is a very small addition, or just general park improvements.

Yep. Just visit the park on a weekday in the summer, and compare the rides side to the Sunlite Pool area, and you will really understand that concept!

Have you been to Coney before? They have some pretty unique and thrilling rides. I know that Gordon Bombay can attest to the intensity that can be achieved on the Rock-O-Planes when someone controls it who really knows how to spin the tubs (like someone who has worked that ride numerous times). This is the first major addition to the Sunlite pool area in several years, and it will surely be a hit with the general public.

Well, keep in mind that they could start building it in early March, which gives them three full months to get the slides built by the end of May. Just look at how much work has been done on Diamondback in three months! And these new slides are not as complex, and do not cover as much area as what Diamondback does.

Sort of. What I`m saying is that the diagonal support was likely being partially supported by a crane, until they put the top "keystone" piece into place. Once they put the keystone support (the top support) into place, the lateral thrusts of the two supports (in equal and opposite directions) balance each other out, providing for lateral stability.

If I had to guess, there is a very logical reason why they are still working. This particular support might have presented a case of "once we start, we can`t stop." In other words, once they placed that first large diagonal support on the right side of the lift, they couldn`t stop until the entire support is completed. This is likely due to the fact that the support on the right is severely angled, and in order to provide some stability for the lateral thrust created by that support, they had to complete the support by connecting it to the other side, which was achieved by placing the support on the top.
