  1. As always, the rides are subject to mechanical problems and down time due to weather conditions.
  2. The park is not opposed to helping pay for the Metro service, as the article states, they just don`t want to be the only ones funding the service. And, it likely was a decision of money. I`m sure that the park could find better uses for that money, especially with Cedar Fair in so much debt. That being said, it will be interesting to see what, if any, impact this will have on the park being able to appropriately staff the park.
  3. Hendrick, I believe that http://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayima...pos=-4577"" target="_blank">this is the location of the photo booth building.
  4. Well, last season on the temporary passes, they put the parking on everyone in my family`s pass. Not sure if that is how they are doing it this year, or if it is, as you said, one pass per family. (At least they decided to put the parking on the passes, versus on the windshield of A car.
  5. I beg to differ. I do believe that the scanners at the toll booths do have your picture show up.
  6. I don`t know about counting The Racer twice, but I know that they count Avatar as a coaster.
  7. Well, I recall seeing in the news several weeks ago, that Jungle Jims decided not to open a store in a new development in Oakley, as they want to concentrate their efforts on the original store location. Included in this effort is getting the monorail operational. Why leave this site for the historical timeline of the park, when one can be found on this site?
  8. What`s with the bold red letters? While it will be nice to have nice weather on opening weekend, it will also mean that crowds could be on the heavy side.
  9. Having done several ACE walkbacks myself, I know that most times, we would avoid the roped off areas and take backstage areas through the park to get to the attraction that we were going to. However, this year that will not be the case. The ACE walkback will occur this year, and as the Interpreter said, you will have to check in with guest relations. Also, you will be "ducking under the ropes" where the gp is waiting for the park to open.
  10. I wouldn`t be so fast to jump out and say that Cedar Fair is going to throw all the family friendly aspects that Paramount was applying into the waste bin. Because as Paramount found out, they can bring in more money from families than they could with teens who were riding the white knuckle rides. Theming has its place. Regional parks like Cedar Point and Kings Island would never get the kind of themed rides that parks down at Universal and Disney get because of one thing. Attendance. Those parks attract the attendance, and in turn, revenue, to be able to build the rides with the level of theming that one comes to expect from those places. Regional parks like CP and KI are limited by the fact that they are seasonal parks and can`t attract visitors year round to pay off the massively themed rides. That being said, I think that Maverick is a nice themed ride that will be a great addition to Cedar Point. To be honest, I would much rather have gotten a ride with theming like Maverick, then one like IJ, which just screams cheap theming. But that could be the fact that the "cheap" theming replaced what was a tranquil area of Kings Island. I think that Cedar Fair will continue to build roller coasters at its parks in the future. But I doubt it will be at the pace that we saw in the 1990s. And they will likely continue to focus on family attractions between installing the white knuckle thrill rides. After all, families do bring in a lot of money for the parks. After all, Cedar Fair is nearly $2 billion in debt, and needs to cater to the group that has the deepest pockets to help them pay off their debt from purchasing the Paramount Parks.
  11. Just a question from an operations standpoint. Were the ride operators having to buckle the seat belts on the seats that were empty? I know that when there are empty seats on The Racer and Beast, at least in past years, the crews have not had to buckle the seat belts in empty seats. The loading process could be slowed some if the crew has to fasten the seat belts in the empty seats.
  12. But this track started out a faded red color. It isn`t an effect of the red paint fading to a pink color, not unlike what happened with the supports for Face Off before it was repainted.
  13. Yeah, I don`t see where he posted the 27th date in this thread either. No worries though.
  14. And from what I understand, there is no need to get your picture retaken. You will simply go to a window give them your temporary pass, and they will then hand you your permanent 2007 season pass.
  15. Yeah, it isn`t exactly a red color. There is a slight tint of white in it making it slightly pink in nature.
  16. May 27th is the last day to purchase a season pass to get the gold pass perks.
  17. Well, Xcelerator at Knott`s Berry Farm has pink track. Not exactly hot pink but more of a Pepto-Bismol pink color. Xcelerator
  18. Your welcome! Now, if only we would get an actual listing of the specifics of the Gold Pass perks. (Like what early ride times they will have this season, all they`ve said so far is that they will have early ride times, but haven`t gone into specifics).
  19. Well, it is still on top of the Action FX Theater. Here is a link to the company that actually hosts the WCPO webcams, which still has the active KI webcam. http://www.centralmediaserver.com/wcpo/webcams/56-09-01.jpg
  20. Yes, it was located about where the Festhaus is. To be more specific, it was located almost between where the Festhaus is and the Age and Weight game is.
  21. Yes, I believe that Maxx passes that were purchased and processed at Kings Island will get the Gold Pass Perks at Kings Island. The perks are ONLY valid for Maxx passes that were bought at Kings Island. Likewise, the KI Maxx pass will not get perks at other Cedar Fair parks.
  22. That is good news! This will help make thing move more smoothly on opening weekend. I know they had some issues with switching out the temporary passes down at Carowinds on opening weekend.
  23. As PKIVortex said, the Nick Parade will be exclusive to Carowinds this year. And as you said, it will start earlier and end later, since it does not have to leave to head to any other park like it has in the past several years.
  24. Well, if they were going to make any place be a full service restaurant, I would think that the easiest locality where they could pull this off without drastic remodeling or changes would obviously be Wings in Rivertown. But it looks like they are going to be trying out the buffet thing in there again. It wasn`t terribly bad when I ate there on the last day last year, but some of the food (buns especially) were not the freshest, to say the least.
  25. Well, more like its placement was designed with the monorail in mind. The ride is nearly identical to Vortex at Canada`s Wonderland, which opened up there in 1991.
