  1. I`d imagine that the coinage was collected as part of the clean up procedure for the rides. So while there likely are some costs involved with collecting the coins, I`d assume that most of the cost is part of normal clean up at the parks.
  2. Kings Island`s loose change goes toward funding scholarships for the seasonal workers. That is a lot of money in loose change. Glad to see that it goes to a great cause!
  3. Well, before they up and tear down buildings, I would hope they would try and revitalize that area of the park. I mean, why tear down a perfectly good building. If it is closed because of foot traffic, which would be my guess, it is no wonder. They seriousely need to remove the Eurobungee attraction, and add a classic ride in that spot. I`m sure that the attention in that area would garner enough attention and foot traffic to make it wise to open up that food stand once again.
  4. Yes, the final report is now on the Department of Agriculture`s website. Like the first report, it is another interesting read. There are a lot of things that the park has to fix on Son of Beast before they can reopen the ride.
  5. There is no need to shout. We can all hear your opinions loud and clear.
  6. Yep. I mean why would they announce it then. There is too much going on for a lot of people, and the announcement would get muddled in all the commotion of the holidays. That being said, I doubt we will have to wait too much after the new year begins to finally receive that announcement.
  7. It is still there. It is almost right behind the Speed Pitch game on Coney Mall, which is right next to the seldom used food stand right next to the Skeeball game building.
  8. Well, those buildings are some of the maintenance offices. The one closest to the midway under The Racer is used every year for FearFest as The Asylum (formerly Maze of Madness) and that particular building is part of wood coaster maintenance I believe. There are some ways they could snake another path out to the FoF midway. But the one maintenance building is kind of in the way. They could poke a path through at the apex of the second hill and connect it to the Coney midway right next to the games building, by the former food stand that is rarely open anymore. Even if from there they route the path straight to the existing midway, it could provide a much needed second access point back to that area. Well, I just checked Geauga Guide. Deconstruction of X-Flight is well under way. Track is coming down at a rather good rate and currently sitting in GL`s parking lot. See the pictures over on Geauga Guide.
  9. I`m sure they`ll have an electrical engineer involved with assisting them in getting power to the ride. I`m sure that they have plans for all the electrical systems in the park. I doubt they would tie into FoF`s power tap as that ride required quite a bit of juice to power those lims. But since there are all those maintenance buildings back there, there are bound to be quite a lot of electrical lines back in that area. The thing I am more interested in, is how are they going to set up the midway. The pathway under The Racer is not the widest, but it works serving just FoF. It was a disaster at FearFest when they also had two haunt lines back there. Just imagine what it will be like in the middle of summer when there are two attractions back there, both will likely be very popular. I just hope they don`t make the same mistake they made with Action Zone of having an undersized entrance to a dead end midway (which they later remedied with the install of Delirium).
  10. Well, not necessarily. There were numerous occasions the last couple of years, where they did not refer to the park as Paramount`s Kings Island. Even in some of their advertisements they had been doing away with some of the Paramount name. But is was still there. Now it seems they might be shifting away from the Paramount name all together. Though they still have the Paramount logo. I have to wonder how long it will be before the websites for the Paramount Parks receive an update. I`d imagine at some point they will get a Cedar Fair make over. And when that happens, I think we will know if they will still have that P word in front of the park names.
  11. No problem. Just try and keep discussions about that subject in that thread, and subjects about the Chaos rides in this thread. Bad pun warning. But with so many rides up for sale, it can be a little chaotic.
  12. What? Supports have to go down after the "footers?" What are you talking about? Keep in mind that if the ride is coming to KI, they could already have started pouring footings (the proper architectural term for them) on the site, especially with the nice weather Cincinnati has had lately. Yes, they have to disassemble the ride in the reverse order in which they built it. Ie, track first followed by supports. And then the supports will be the first to be rebuilt at the new site. Keep in mind that the pictures on this site of the clearing behind Flight of Fear were from the first weekend in December. A lot can happen in the period of several weeks. I would tend to agree with it going to need a paint job wherever it goes. The green looked pretty faded in some of the recent pictures I`ve seen. That, and from being disassembled, transported and reassembled, there may be several areas where the paint has been scratched off.
  13. While the ride has been assembled at GL, IF it comes to KI, it will be a completely new electrical system. As a result, there will likely be some issues that have to be worked out. I think that it is completely possible for the ride to be relocated to KI and be ready to roll for 2007.
  14. Well, that sure didn`t stop Kings Dominion from announcing their revamped WaterWorks this past week...
  15. That was a wonderful show! Too bad it didn`t make an encore performance this year. But that particular topic has been discussed time and time again in other threads. Yes, I`d like to see more footage, if you have it Bill.
  16. Interpreter, I knew the trains didn`t hold a lot, but since I`ve never ridden it, I didn`t know exactly how many they held. (I visited Kings Dominion in 2000, the year before they installed Hypersonic). Regardless, the capacity on the ride when it is operating normally is minimal. Yes, the money raised from selling those rides will not be great in comparison to their overall debt, but a penny saved is a penny earned. Have they made the public offering of $250 million more of units yet? I know they were planning on doing it towards the end of the year, but had`t heard when exactly they were going to be doig this.
  17. And keep in mind that the helipad was slightly raised up from the FoF midway and outdoor queue. Yes, it may drop off towards the back, but with grading and some extra tall footings, it wouldn`t be anything that would make the ride look out of place.
  18. Well, in all honesty, I doubt that the decision to have Gillete Mach 3 sponsor Top Gun came from the marketing department at Kings Island. Much like I doubt they had any influence on Toyota sponsoring the Paramount Theater for School of Rock.
  19. And have you actually see how much land X-Flight takes up? Or have you seen how much land is cleared at KI from the ground. Keep in mind that the aerial images can be slightly deceiving. I`m not saying that X-Flight is or isn`t coming to KI, as they have yet to announce anything for the 2007 season. Hopefully, that will come sooner rather than later. But if you are hoping for something bigger than X-Flight, you will likely be mistaken. I actually think that the clearing is just about the right size for X-Flight. But you never know exactly what tricks Kings Island has up their sleeves.
  20. Wow, if Cedar Fair can successfully sell some of the things that they have on sale, they could help lower their debt some. I mean, they have the Hollywood Stunt show for sale through ITPS, ant then the sale listing for Hypersonic, and now the Chaos rides. I personally have never ridden Hypersonic, but from what I understand, they have had some major issues with the trains on that ride. And the fact that they only hold like twelve or sixteen people means that it is a low capacity ride. So, it is really no big surprise that they have placed the ride for sale. It will be interesting to see if they don`t have a buyer for the ride by the end of March if they will open that ride this season.
  21. Right, you can try healing a broken arm with band aids, but it won`t do any good. However, I think the ride can be saved. If it weren`t for the jackhammering and shuffling, the ride could be a thoroughly fun and enjoyable ride. I mean, the views from atop the pinnacle of the lift hill are quite breathtaking. And not to metion that the first 214 foot drop at speeds of almost 78 miles per hour is awesome too. And ironically, the first drop is not actually rough. That is likely due to the fact that the trains are traveling in a straight line. I think part of the problem is the trains inability to successfully negotiate the turns that has led to uncomfortable rides. Also, with the elimination of the loop, the large and bulky lap bar may be able to be reduced in size to something more comparable to what is used on PTC trains. Keep in mind, that because Premier designed the trains for SoB to have lap bars, that is why Paramount later worked with Premier to remove the OTSRs on Flight of Fear, and successfully turning a painful ride, into one of the best steel coasters in the park. So had it not been for the original engineering of the SoB lapbards, FoF might not be what it is today. Given that, I`m sure that Kings Island wants to get this ride running and be as much of a success story as what the work on the FoF trains did for that ride. If that is possible, (and for this season) remains to be seen.
  22. Well, you may have your opinions and facts, which we respect. However, Reclaimer`s attitude might actually directed towards the way in which your posts are full of spelling errors, which sheds some doubt on your credibility.
  23. It should also be noted, that Cedar Fair was pleased with the increased per capita spending at the Paramount Parks this season, which was largely a result of the increased prices imposed by the former Paramount Park management.
  24. What are you talking about??? I don`t quite get what your "riddle/poem" has to do with Son of Beast.
  25. Exactly, not sure how many of you actually read the 25 page pdf report, but it was dated September 12, 2006. So while it is new information to the general public and us, it certainly is not new information to the Department of Agriculture or Kings Island. I mean, KI has had three months since that report to being modifying the ride. It would be interesting to see if there are any future releases from the state about the ride and the modifications that have been made to it.
