Welcome to Son of Beast my friend.
-
No offense dude, but how many people here do you really think are going to vote AGAINST Delirium? It is one of the most loved rides in the park, and on this site. It gets my vote, definately.
-
I find that difficult to believe, because the employment schedule doesn't have those days listed. I don't see anything about it on pki.com either. Of course, its always "subject to change."

The Bat was the original Arrow Dynamics Suspended Coaster. The problem was that it was such an extreme ride that it often had maintence problems. This is why it was removed (a la King Cobra). Top Gun is the last Arrow Suspended Coaster, the type of ride is still basically the same as The Bat.

What is this, everyone copying off of my poll now? I vote FoF.

I've ridden Skyflyer myself and I think its kind of like drop zone - not as much the intensity of the fall itself, but the sheer experience and terror of the fall is what makes it good. I'd do it again, but then again, I don't have to pay for it (well, when I'm on duty anyway)!!

That's what they use to torture people who break the gag order.

No. Here's why: 1) Casino gambling is explicitly illegal in Ohio, and the many attemps to change that have failed miserably. 2) Theme park and casinos just don't mix, I think. Not in the midwest, at least. Maybe in Las Vegas. 3) It does not mix with the park's image, the one it wants to maintain at least. It advertises itself as a very family-friendly place for all the suburban moms to take their kids, not as much as a place for an ACER or something like that. 4) Where would they put the thing? 5) The park would become overcrowded - not to mentioned likely filled with smokers and drinkers, which many people don't like.

Beast. Wood coaster love. And its one of the best rides there, too.
-
I kind of doubt its that much of a problem. The river floods every year or two, and Old Coney is always one of its first targets. I believe this is why the developers started building up a certain other amusement park in Mason.

I rode The Beastie and was scared ****less by it. Then 2 years later, I rode The Beast, loved it, and have been hooked ever since.
-
Oh, sorry. Its kind of hard to tell when you're seeing it typed instead of hearing it being said.
-
WHAT?! Come on dude, you're about as high as the tower and you know you're gonna fall straight down - plus, unlike on a coaster, you get a full panoramic view.
-
Just make sure you're department OK'd the transfer. Mine didn't at first and it took a little while to fully change over to rides. Other than that, it went very smoothly for me. There's probably a little more training than in merch, but thats just a guess to be honest.

I like working the roller coasters, but I think that's obvious from my name. It's actually a little easier than you might think - you're mostly there in case something goes wrong. Most of the people here are from the Action Zone area of the park (with SOB, Delirium, Face/Off, just to name a few). We all like it there because we have a close-knit community if you will, we all get along well and do stuff together.
-
I stand corrected.
-
I believe it was Racer.

Unless something has radically changed without mu knoweledge (which is possible) you can still work any ride in the park if you're under 18. I think they might implement a new rule saying that at least 18 year old must be at EVERY ride at all times, before I think it was just coasters. Heck, I'm 17 and I could drive and run the whole saftey test on 2 coasters - and I wasn't the only one.

I'm not knocking food service. I'm just saying I think they are the only department that hires 15 year-old now. Parking (tolls) used to do it too, but I'm told they stopped this year.
-
And by "other departments" we mean "food service."

I know there are a fair amount of people here that want to work at PKI, so I though I'd pass this along. I got an announcement from PKI today about the upcoming job fairs. This is by far the easiest way to get a job at PKI: you fill out the app, get interviewed, get hired, and get training scheduled all on the same day. All the fairs will be in the Festhaus (as will returners processing), and will be from 10AM to 4PM. And the dates are (these are all Saturdays): January 24 February 7 February 21 February 28 March 6 PKI HR recruiters will start visiting schools on Monday, you can pick up an app from one of them and bring it back at the job fair or give it to them. You can fill one out online if you want, but I personally discourage it - I did that when I started to work there and they apparently never recieved it. Good luck!
-
I got almost all of them in here - sorry Drew, not enough room for the ship. My favorite is Face/Off.

I never thought I'd use stuff I learned from the parking lot here. But anyways: I was there in the really big gold pass BAFFD in 2002. I believe the park set an all time attendance record that day, around 65,000. It actually got to the point where we closed the entrance gates in the afternoon and locked anyone from coming in. When the concrete lot filled up, cars were parked on the grass (of couse, with toll collectors placed at the entrance to the Park and Ride for that day), as well as on the baseball/softball field next to the employee entrance. I don't think they openly let people park in the employee lot, but many people probably saw the path next to the cars and took it. I don't remember being parked as far out as I was that day, I think I was in the last row of the employee lot. 71 was backed up for at least a mile - and this was at 3:00 PM, when I got there. I was told that it was backed up for over an hour in the morning. Not true. If a vehicle is left there for more than a day or two, it gets towed. PKI has mechanics that come out to broken down cars to help out or call for help if you ask someone or go to the security gate. If a car is left there more than a day, it was almost always towed.

What is going on for Beast 25 birthday
SOB/Gun Steve-O replied to Williams89's topic in Kings Island
how does painting a biohazzard symbol on a trash can eliminate stecnh and nastiness? Good Question! Better question why the hell did they put that crap on the ride at all? Biohazard is something usually reservered for Medical, Hazardous Materials, and other related occupations (like firefighting). Is it the idea its something you are not supposed to mess with or what? personally, I would rather that sysmbol be used what it is designed for, not some park theming. 1) I've never seen the biohazard symbol painted on the trash cans. 2) I think the logo on the SOB trains is slightly altered so that its not the real biohazard logo. I could be wrong about that, though. 3) I would much rather deal with the nasty smelling trash cans than pick up all the crap that people throw on the ground, even when they are right next to the trash can. 4) Why are you asking us why its painted on the train? What, do you think they consult us about these things? -
Clearly you have never worked there. Viacom - or any large business for that manner - is pretty cheap when it comes to this stuff.
