  1. Yep! Although Dodgem would likely be closed due to accumulating snow anyway.
  2. PSA: Ride operators were just notified that no rides will be opening tonight (12/30/17) at Winterfest due to the weather conditions. AFAIK everything else will be operating as normal.
  3. Red and blue since '72!
  4. The park actually lowered it to 25, but the tracks cannot have accumulated snow on them.
  5. KI closes platforms with anything additional on the Eiffel Tower. The higher platform is closed during Haunt when they have the eyes up, and they closed the Eiffel Tower two weekends before Haunt ended because they were starting to string up the lights for Winterfest. With that in mind, it's highly unlikely that the Eiffel Tower will be open during Winterfest or late Haunt in the upcoming seasons. Edit: any changes to either Drop or WindSeeker for Winterfest would likely also result in premature closings.
  6. Well, your wish is being partially fulfilled. The week after Christmas, the park is opening an hour earlier than previously scheduled (at 4 o'clock).
  7. A modern movie with a soundtrack of 70's songs. Those songs have a life of their own and are not exclusively associated with GotG. They really have literally nothing to do with space or any horror-esque theme that X-Base has, and play little-to-no role in the plot points of either movie beyond being the music the protagonist listens to. From a practical standpoint, it'd be pretty stupid to procure the rights to all those songs and play them in just a single section of the park as a tangential reference.
  8. I actually think those soundtracks wouldn't fit at all if you were trying to make something that connected to the theme. But, if you were going for fun songs that would play in an amusement park, then you're absolutely correct! But why would they only play on X-Base then?
  9. Which part is inaccurate/weird? I'm an employee and I've been back there a dozen times, it just looks like the maintenance road and train tracks.
  10. And several in the station, as well.
  11. It's so that the park isn't liable for if a phone/camera is dropped/broken. Staffing is actually really good for during Winterfest... Most of the rides are actually overstaffed so they've been sending extra people to Food Service to help out.
  12. AFAIK they just run two trains instead of three during rain. Heavy rain will shut any coaster down (except indoor ones), but not for ghost trains - just because there's a risk of the trains overshooting or blowing through the breaks.
  13. Yep! The ride operators control every movement on the ride (except the individual pods spinning). We have to have a minimum of 8 hours training to drive it, as opposed to 2 hours for a coaster. It's quite the machine.
  14. AFAIK, Monster is the only ride that doesn't use a PLC. That would be because it's the last manually-driven ride in the park.
  15. I really like it! I do have to ask, why have a MCBR when you can have the second lift function as one of sorts? Unless, of course, you want more than 2 trains on the circuit at any time.
  16. Honestly, I would love either of these. Ed Hart buying the park would be a great boom and a unified HW/KK would make some nice competition for CF to try and up the ante at KI. Alternatively, HW being under CF would open the park up to a lot more possibilities and stability, not to mention it would be great for me to have another park in the area I can get into for free and have employee benefits at, considering I'm a KI employee ;).
  17. ...which I hate. Speaking as a supervisor, consistently pulling 50-60 hour weeks during the season, that overtime would add up very nicely.
  18. I can totally see this in a commercial in the same style as the Steel Vengeance commercial.
  19. Reading that interview gives me a lot of faith in Zimmerman. I adore the work that Ouimet has done for Cedar Fair, and if Zimmerman can continue that work with "an even stronger guest service angle" like @TheRickster said, I'm 100% down for it.
  20. You should've asked for a tour while we were still operating! I'm sure it would've changed your perception of the attraction. I once gave a tour which lasted almost 2 hours... the folks were very interested and I had a lot to say! (Though usually my tours only lasted around 45 minutes, so my staff could rotate positions and go on break with minimal interference.)
  21. I'm so glad you had fun! It was an emotional night for the crew, even past members - *cough@dinoguy098cough* - but it's all made worth it when people enjoy themselves on the trail.
