McSalsa's Coaster Adventures: Off the Chain (KI July 13th, 2019)
FUN&ONLY! replied to McSalsa's topic in Trip Reports
Great pictures @McSalsa! -
They could announce it on a Friday during Haunt!
-
I am not positive that they will be doing the announcement on National Rollercoaster Day because the reason the Antique Cars were announced then last year was because it was the anniversary of them being removed. Also, no other recent rollers announcements for Kings Island have been on that day. I also think many other parks will make announcements on that day, and I am sure Kings Island wants to gave the full media attention they deserve for their new ride. Luckily, though in @Fye Coasters case, the announcement has a good chance of being after 10:00 PM (like previous announcements) so hopefully your work does not conflict with the time. I hope you will be able to attend no matter the day!

McSalsa's Coaster Adventures: Off the Chain (KI July 13th, 2019)

Great trip report! Unfortunately, the pictures were not showing up for me. I enjoyed reading your report nonetheless! -
That was on a Monday... I guess it doesn’t have to be on a weekend for teasers to go up!
-
I think the park wanted to build a giga, and they thought why spend the extra $10 million on the ride when you would get the same outcome while saving that $10 million. The park probably looks at buying a new rollercoaster through a cost to outcome ratio, in which a higher attendance is the better outcome.
-
We are now a week past July 7th. I am with you and really want to see teasers, but I think whatever shows up on the fence in the coming weeks will be followed by the announcement date. I think it will be a hint at the theme and overall coaster, but I am not expecting a formal and all-out teaser campaign.
-
Speaking of fake pages on Kings Island’s website, I recently spent about an hour seeing if they had any work done on a new webpage for this coaster by editing the url to include keywords like “Orion” and “Polaris” among others. I have seen this method work with things is the past before a new product launches or something, but I was unsuccessful. The park will definitely create a page for this new ride on their website, but I am assuming this will be done closer to the announcement. Often times, the new page is out there, but the website doesn’t have a link to it. Thus, why you have to enter the exact url to the page. Who knows, I may have just been overthinking this, and I am speaking nonsense...

It is surprising the park is not even teasing this new ride when almost every other park in the history of adding new coaster has done so, no matter the circumstances. It would be kind of funny if there isn’t even an announcement, and a 300 foot rollercoaster appears next year. The GP will think they moved Diamondback to where Firehawk was. Edit: The coaster is 296 feet, not 300... LOL!
-
When do you think the park will set a day for the new ride’s announcement?
-
Is the park super crowded today?
-
I really don’t think the park is going to tease at all. I think it is too late to start a whole campaign now. Hopefully that means an early announcement though. Shortly, the park will simply set the date for an announcement, and that will be it. Also... I hope I am not jinxing myself...
-
That does not look very good... if this is all true, I hope that Nelson guy is fired ASAP.
-
If there are ever going to be teasers, they would probably start to show up this weekend. Anyone at the park today? Correction: Anyone at the park today who is on KIC? LOL!
-
That is true, but they obviously would not advertise that they removed a coaster. I am just a little surprised they did not mention much about its deconstruction on the park’s social media. I don’t think it would harm the park in any way because those who follow Kings Island’s social media also know that Firehawk is closed forever.
-
I do recall that, but they never gave deconstruction updates or anything like they did with Son of Beast. I found it surprising how quiet they were about Firehawk’s demolition, considering how much the park hyped it up before it finally closed.
-
I was just wondering, but has the park even acknowledged that they tore Firehawk down yet? After last season when it closed, I have not heard them mention it once. Kind of funny how they are not speaking about it when it is so obvious. LOL! Correct me if I am wrong though...

Sorry for the double post, but I honestly think that it is getting too late to start teasing a new ride. I know I may seem like a buzzkill, but unless the park decides to tease this weekend, I think they will just eventually put posters on the fence saying when the announcement will be. They will also probably send out those invitations to local news outlets with a few hints at the theme. This will probably get the GP’s attention more than regular teasers because people will suddenly wonder what will be announced soon, creating curiosity. I do expect these announcement date posters to somewhat hint at the theme though, like Mystic Timbers’ “What’s lurking in the woods?” followed by the date of the announcement. I don’t see anything more than that, but I am sure the hype will still be present on KIC because everyone will be awaiting and excited for the announcement. Edit: Not a double post anymore...

Thanks for the track updates! You were the one who first told us we that we may be getting blue track!
-
That is what I was thinking too... I really do think that 2023 will be Kings Island’s next coaster especially if they go with something cheaper like a Gerstluer. They have been doing a new coaster every three years recently, but I think this is made possible by throwing in some “cheaper” coasters like Mystic Timbers. I am not saying Mystic Timbers is not as good by any means... I think it is one of if not the best coaster in the park, but you cannot argue that a GCI costs more than a B&M. Also Cedar Point seems to be adding a new coaster for 2021 after their big anniversary, so I think Kings Island would want to add one right after their 50th. I think our giga was originally planned for a later year and was supposed to be a little larger, but the park decided to put it in earlier which meant that we could get another coaster sooner in 2023.
-
It is kind of funny honestly how the park is obviously up to something, and they are literally acting like nothing is happening. Park officials are definitely reading this thread and laughing at how desperate we are. Who knows, they may have had a stack of teaser posters for weeks now, just waiting to see how desperate we will get before they actually decide to put them up!
-
That is interesting... I hope someone goes to the park and gets pictures of it!
-
This looks a lot like Maverick which is definitely a good thing. If Kings Island can get a launch coaster anywhere near as good as Maverick, we’ll have a winner on our hands. After seeing this awesome drawing, I do really want an Intamin/Mack launch coaster in that plot of land. Nice concept!
-
I could see the return of the stunt show as a possibility! Do they usually announce those things earlier though?
-
I think a new addition to the park that would really be appreciated is a re-paved parking lot. Please and thank you! I know... I know, everyone asks for this!
