I would take an Intamin launch coaster any day! The newer ones look to be really great now that Intamin can put inversions on them with only a simple lap bar. I could also see us getting a Mack launch coaster, which does not seem quite as good, but it would still be pretty lit! If Kings Island is still doing the whole “budget” thing an Intamin is cheaper than a Mack...
-
Funny you mention that. Apparently, some guy got in trouble (a long time ago) when a guest asked “how do you make the ice cream blue?” He responded saying, “We grind up The Smurfs and throw em’ in there!”
-
I couldn’t agree more, the GP do have at least some sense that the park is getting a massive rollercoaster next year. Going up the lift on The Racer or Banshee, you will hear people say “oh look, that is where the new rollercoaster will be” like @Hawaiian Coasters 325 said. I have even heard GP use the term “giga” to refer to it as. I guess John Materese is doing a good job!
-
I still don’t think we will see a single piece of track at Kings Island until after the announcement. With Diamondback and Banshee, did the track ever show up at the park before they were announced? That should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect.
-
That is true, but I think that was more of a Paramount trend, storing the coaster’s track before going vertical. And Firehawk was in the parking lot because it was relocated and had to be installed immediately. I think with any new roller coaster, Kings Island is not going to store the track inside park boundaries.
-
The park would never have track onsite before vertical construction anyways!
-
The year following, Fury 325’s announcement video was also pretty cool! Unfortunately, every Cedar Fair announcement video after Fury 325 has been meh... I used to look forward to watching those every year!
-
They should make it launched too! I would be all for that! B&M has not built a ground-up floorless in quite some time, so I want to see what new ideas they could implement into new design!
-
It would be great if you could see if there are any newly painted supports to confirm that they will be light grey. Thanks for heading over there!
-
I guess when you know the whole layout and color scheme of a coaster, there isn’t much to decode. I miss the days when I would log on and see pages and pages of new comments all within an hour period because something big was revealed. Maybe, when teasers show up, we will see that happen again. I do think that the layout leaking early was a good thing, though, because now people won’t be caught off guard and all upset when the coaster is not the tallest, fastest, and longest giga in the world.

That is the name that seems most likely at the moment, and I agree, it sounds like a Six Flags name for a giant frisbee... sorry for the double post!
-
B&M manufactures all of their rollercoasters at Clermont Steel Fabricators, and if that grey track is all ready to go, I am certain it is for Hershey as the color matches up perfectly with the animation. Also, while I do believe our supports will be grey, I think it will be a lighter, shinier shade of grey according the partial support attached to the blue track.

Thanks for the reply! That is what I was initially thinking honestly, but I found it odd that these pieces were completely rusted black when the other supports around them were just brown and grey.
-
Idk... this may be a dumb question with me just being clueless, but are these blacker looking supports painted? Edit: Since there is no shine, I do not think they have been painted yet...

That does not mean we are getting the same kind of teasers as we did in the past because: first, we have always gotten them to start the season and second, Cedar Fair seems to be doing more involved teasers nowadays. In the past, they have always put up a couple posters on a fence vaguely hinting at the theme for the new ride, but last season they started detailed teaser campaigns that ended up giving lots of information about the rides. Also, they started teasing really late last year, and that also looks to be happening this year at Kings Island.
-
Actually, many of the teasers were really helpful with decoding the ride. If you look at this article from COASTER101, you can see that almost all of the ride was figured out from the teasers. https://www.coaster101.com/2018/06/30/carowinds-2019-teasers-what-do-they-all-mean/
-
The reason everyone wants teasers so badly is because there is only so much to talk about now in this thread. From the teasers, I hope we can figure out the exact stats of the rollercoaster and the general theme and the name of the ride.
-
I think they are pretty much done with land clearing, but there may still be a couple trees to come down or some dirt to be moved. Maybe someone who has been to the park recently has more insight on this.
-
Seatbelts, Cedar Fair will do anything they can to have less liabilities!
-
The grey is most likely just a primer still as many of the track pieces are already rusting, waiting to be painted. A final coat would have more shine and definitely not rust.
-
Looking forward to it tomorrow @collin.klopfstein!

It would be cool if you could get some video, but just make sure it is not down pouring when you go. LOL! I as well as the others would greatly appreciate that. Also, have you seen any painted supports yet that aren’t grey/silver for the Hershey Hyper? Edit: Just make sure you don’t trespass on their property... I see that posted every time on a B&M plant tour, and while I am not sure what will happen, it is better to play it safe!

I honestly did not think it was “rough,” but I can see why you say that as it made a very strange noise navigating the turnaround. I think it is smoother than last year, though, because while it may seem to have a vibration to it, it does not jerk you around like it did in the past. I think it is because the park is using old PTC trains on modern GCI track. If The Racer could get the Ghostrider treatment with all-new track and trains, it would be one of the best in the park, but that is something for another topic...

I have not been to Canada’s Wonderland to experience the new ride storage system, so I don’t full understand how it works, but if it is anything similar to how plain bins in the station work, it would be on the exit side of the station. When you board, let’s say Diamondback, you step over your seat to the exit side to put your items in the bin. I will probably have to research how Canada’s Wonderland’s system works to find out more about it before I can say for sure...
