  1. From what I have seen in the park, most spitting is not done by kids under 10. It's mostly teenagers who ought to know better (and who ought to be prosecuted). Same thing with vandalism, writing on stuff and spitting out gum. Most kids under 10 have one or more parents with them, and MOST (not all, but most) parents do make their kids behave.

  3. It's not a Super WalMart. That rumor is not on target.
  4. I kind of doubt it. I figure the new campground at KI will be done Cedar Fair style... For references, see Cedar Point.
  5. A little bird from a fair has told me that effective very soon, the gates will open daily at KI at 9:30a.m, with metal detection starting at 9a.m. Guests will be allowed to gather at the head of International Street until 10 a.m. It's not a total reversal of the situation this year, but it is a start. . . This is the first positive step I have seen in preparation for the new way of doing things. Perhaps the CBS influence is starting to wane... I wonder if this will also apply to the other Paramount Parks? I heard so far it applies only to Kings Island. Apparently, there have been literally hundreds of guest complaints about standing in line outside the metal detectors for up to an hour (with no restroom access either, unless one begs). Surprise, surprise.
  6. How he could know this when Cedar Fair itself doesn't know for sure what it is going to do is beyond me.
  7. I actually think it was some time after the park opened up there before they had all three trains. In fact, both parks ran a mixture of rolling stock until the replacements were delivered. Anyway, they wouldn't have built the trains for KD's coaster before last winter. Too many things can happen to stop a coaster from actually being delivered. Why, the parks could even have changed hands....
  8. Nope. The replacement trains were on loan. From the second IJST built...in Canada, from Canada's Wonderland. That park, conveniently, opens later than KI.
  9. Well, this is certainly a nice and productive thread for new management of the park to see. . . Just an observation in passing. . . Paramount thought so much of ISJ that it built another, just about exactly like the first, at Doswell, Virginia, at Kings Dominion. The placement in that park is far better, though. And they didn't take out two family rides to put in what is an allegedly family oriented coaster. . .
  10. Some day your time will come.... The Son of Beast is trying its best to get out of that box and...and...and, what exactly? Not unlike the old Steel Phantom at Kennywood, SOB is quite capable of giving you a nice, relatively civil ride this time, then, by cracky, BANGO the next time. How many times did you ride said Sonny? How tall are you? And how much do you weigh? All of these are factors on that "Son of Beast."
  11. Perhaps this would not have happened had the sign been built of cedar of fair quality.
  12. Hi, Tuba! I'd wondered what happened to you! Glad the grounding is over. Part of the cost of food in a park ends up going to fund rides, capital investment and even employee salaries. The cost base of running a restaurant in a theme park is much higher than outside. And the expected profit level is, too. But, there is a thing as too much. And I think several park chains have gotten there this year. Interestingly, Cedar Fair DROPPED most food prices this year, many substantially (quarter cotton candy, anyone?). Perhaps this bodes well for food at KI next year. And if you like White Castle, you just got to try Krystal. Their Krystals are awesome, and someone who posts here is seriously addicted to their BA burgers. (It is said that stands for Black Angus...many of the customers say it stands for Bad A...er, something else). Whatever it stands for, they are great! They also have tiny little hot dogs (even smaller than Cinci style) called Chili Cheese Pups. The chili on them is, I swear, Armour. Sigh.
  13. Okay....since you said at first you never watch any of the shows (prior to this time), I just gotta ask: Do you watch the shows at Disney? Which ones? Where? School of Rock is good, yes. The Nick parade is impressive for a seasonal park, yes. The performers put their heart and soul into their work? Indeed! But on a par with Disney? With Disney levels of props, staffing, original music and scores, care and preparation? Do you really have a Disney show knowledge base to compare the Paramount entertainment to? Have you seen, say, Phantasmic? The Disney Electric Parade? Not picking on you (I hope I wouldn't do that), but I am just curious. Just as I was shocked the other day when a poster suggested anything Cedar Fair did would be better than Paramount show-wise. Then again, it's opinion. But I really am interested. And I must ask, have you seen the shows at Seaworld in Orlando? Ever seen a Broadway show? An off-Broadway show? Or the Christmas show at Dollywood? Or even a show at Six Flags Over Texas, Fiesta Texas or Six Flags Great Adventure (the latter ONLY after 2004)? If you don't normally watch shows, and think that Paramount's entertainment is on a par with Disney, it isn't very much different than someone who doesn't ride coasters but rode Space Mountain once to think it is on a par with Voyage. Or with The Beast. Etc., etc.
  14. when I was at CP last, earlier this year, chaos ride was still there... By cracky, you are right! http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...chaos/index.cfm Please strike that foolishness I wrote above (I was told they were removing them all...obviously they did not.) Thank you for pointing that out... Carry on...
  15. Uh, Cedar Fair has REmoved all their Chaos rides. They won't be moving anywhere, except if someone is silly enough to buy one of them. . . EDIT: SEE BELOW. I obviously was NOT right when I wrote this. Thanks cewldre for letting me know!
  16. The Interpreter replied to a post in a topic in Coming Attractions
That may or may not be true. As has been said many other places, Cedar Fair has said over and over again that they haven't decided this issue yet. What's so hard to understand about that?
  17. Perhaps that is because it IS bigger. It is.
  18. Uh, I *DO* see new information here about the licensing....Quoting while adding emphasis: [emphasis supplied] That could mean a number of things, among them: * CBS and or Viacom may have the right to terminate the licensing earlier if certain conditions are not met. and/or * Cedar Fair may be entitled to some kind of refund if it chooses not to use the licensing rights, or some portion of them. That language is hiding something. Something they chose not to disclose, but wanted to, sort of.
  19. Which it hasn't....at least by all accounts.
  20. It's okay. I just thought you want to know.
  21. ***SCHOOL OF ROCK Live in Concert- its gotta go!--- this show is good, CF can do better. *** Really? I must say I have NEVER seen ANY show in ANY Cedar Fair park that even approaches the quality of School of Rock. Or Toy Factory. Cedar Fair does a lot of things right. They are known for many of them (cleanliness, efficient operations, ride installations). I have NEVER known of Cedar Fair being an industry beacon in the entertainment field.
  22. a. Please look at the date of the thread before you post. b. They were NOT already bought. A deal has been announced. It is NOT done. It could still fall through. Not likely, but it could. CBS owns Kings Island at this point. It will not change hands before July at the earliest...There are even Government approvals needed for this transaction.
  23. You have Drop Zone listed twice....
  24. King Kobra was at Kings Dominion. King Cobra was at Kings Island. And two similar rides to King Cobra operate to this day at Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland. So it WAS not an issue of parts availability.
  25. But it's not even sure Maverick (CP)=Maverick. Banshee, anyone? (AFTER that name was announced, CF execs found out quickly that the name also meant "a female spirit in Gaelic folklore believed to presage, by wailing, a death in a family." It was quickly, and quietly, changed.) Plus working names often end up NOT being the ride name. Not to mention that there is no proof that is even the working name.
