  1. Glad I got to see it for myself today! Looks fantastic and they had people in all arms not long before closing!
  2. Was able to come up today due to calling off work to attend a coworker’s funeral. My deceased coworker loved roller coasters, loved Kings Island so I get to go in his place whenever I go up now. Ive come to terms with his death, Im happy I got to know him and then learn a lot about him today. Unfortunately, I was unable to get on Phantom Theater but I saw the exterior at last and Im impressed. It looks awesome! The merch cart is pretty great. Im excited to be able to ride it eventually and when I do, judging from what Ive seen here, its likely to become my new favorite dark ride, maybe even beating out like The Haunted Mansion, Pirates Of The Carribean, and Great Movie Ride(RIP).
  3. Just distract yourself with anything you can. Books, video games, you name it. Tbh, I turned off my watch history on YouTube after clearing it completely so the video suggestions I do get are not tailored, theyre based on what other people are watching besides whatever video youre watching. It is so tempting to go in and watch something like that but you gotta resist. Seeing it in person for the first time will be all the sweeter if you avoid most if not all spoilers which is why Im avoiding spoilers. My job has been giving me less weekend days off than usual since late January which means I have no idea when I’ll get the chance to see it for myself. Its almost like upper management are just messing with me out of sheer whim to make my job less appealing than it already is. Anyway, Im only going to look in this thread further while avoiding spoilers. Tag goodness this forum has a built in spoilers feature. It takes serious willpower to again, avoid spoilers but you can do it. You just gotta want to avoid it badly enough.
  4. This is really creative. Popcorn is usually a treat that is its own thing in its own container. But they have done something here I never even imagined on my own or really seen before that much if at all: a sweet treat where popcorn is essentially the topping. It should be interesting in a tasty way.
  5. Yes. I remember that very well. Shake Rattle & Roll was gone for the 2014 season and I cried because it was gone. To this day, Shake Rattle & Roll is one of my favorite flat rides. That year during Haunt, they put some construction themed haunt stuff at Shake Rattle & Roll’s footprint. That was also the first year I went to Haunt more than once and wasnt really scared. First time at Haunt for me was in 2012. Who knew it would only take 2 years for me to become brave enough to try it again. Monster was gone for a season either in 2015 or 2016. It was weird to have the Monster just gone like that.
  6. I see. I remember panting after reaching the breakrun multiple times on Firehawk. Yeah, I had no idea there was hard cushion there, in part because Im like Velma Dinkley, I “cant see without my glasses”. That phrase is a bit of an exaggeration but near sightedness is no joke even so. Waiting a couple minutes to return to the station as was normal was always alright for me. Kept my head exactly where it is for the most part and everything. I loved Firehawk, the only thing that really sucked in my opinion about it was definitely the sun in the eyes on sunny days going up the lift.
  7. I know that you could, the fact that some of the targets and animatronics went dead threw me off lol. Even when the ride stopped for a bit, including that one time I only just recalled now where I was definiteky stopped longer than normal, I rarely ever got more than like 750 points on Boo Blasters xd. Ah, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, you got lucky where you got stuck on that!
  8. Yeah, rides are never stuck for no reason. Which is a good thing because no park management even with just one sixteenth of a spine would want to let the park(s) they run be run like the infamous Action Park was. The number of reasons a ride coule breakdown varies on what the ride is but of course, there are multiple reasons that are common across basically all rides. And I dont mean just power outages. Years ago, on Indiana Jones at Disneyland, the ride stopped and I was on it at the time because a kid unbuckled their seatbelt prematurely. The entire ride shut down automatically. I dont think we had to evac though. I couldnt hazard as to why I have gotten stuck most of the times I have gotten stuck on any ride but I know a lot can go wrong and trigger the safety system.
  9. Theres hundreds if not thousands of videos online featuring many different occurences of people getting stuck on rides at Disney parks around the world. Whats much less talked about is getting stuck on rides at regional parks like Kings Island. Ive been evacuated off of a ride at Kings Island twice and both times, it was the same ride and the same set of things happened on it. That ride is Flight of Fear, launch didnt give the train I was on enough speed so the computer shut down the entire ride. I think it happened during Winterfest both times and both times, employees had to push the train I was in back into the station. The other times were WindSeeker and Diamondback. It was a unusually cold morning in April 2018 when I was riding Diamondback, just feet from the station after going through the full circuit just fine when the coaster broke down. At least one employee came out to check on us after we had been stuck there for quite a bit and all of us were fine. I think we got off as normal. Then theres WindSeeker. Nearing the end of the ride cycle, the ride came to a sudden stop somewhere between 50-75 feet in the air if I had to guess. And we were stuck there for a good bit, at least 15 minutes and I was wondering if we’d ever get off anytime soon.
  10. We so need the Phineas and Ferb theme song extended version back at KI. That was the stuff. That was the stuff. I listened to it earlier today and was thinking of how it played at Kings Island as a result.
  11. Of course! Whew, almost 5 years already.. 5 years ago, I was at trade school for digital arts and binging cartoons and anime from my childhood and had yet to hear of the book at all.
  12. I knew nothing about Cheers so I had to look it up. Its way before my time and not really my taste, Im not huge on sitcoms at all though at the same time, some cartoons Ive watched share similarities to sitcoms. Still, thats really cool
  13. Its been over 4 years since anyone posted on this thread. Back in around November, I read a ebook version of the book via the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library. I try to be really economical when it comes to books I read and tend to read via the library’s truly enormous collection of both books and ebooks. It took me like 6 hours to read! I learned quite a lot of things I didnt know, one of which stood out to me in particular due to me being basically a lifelong die hard LaRosa’s fan. The fact that Kings Island is the reason theme/amusement parks have pizza. Its such a cool yet bizarre piece of information. Bizarre because youd think a different park like Disneyland Park would have pioneered that but nope, it was Kings Island(that and the fact that KI pizza didnt entirely start out as LaRosa’s). And now, LaRosa’s have been sponsors for Kings Island for longer than I can remember. It was so fascinating to read, Ive spent way more hours on Kings Island history than any other park’s history at this point, it being my home park and all. Really neat to read through this thread and see some of the makings and BTS of the book.
  14. Way back before I left Twitter permanently and even deleted my once long standing account on there and for multiple justified reasons at that, KingsIslandPR posted a trivia question of how many coasters are at the park and after I answered with the number I did, whoever was managing the account at the time replied something along the lines of: “you forgot one! Surf Dog!” Ive never considered Surf Dog a coaster. Ive come close to genuinely classifying it as one but that never stuck.
  15. I had no idea Richard Doyle has voiced a bunch of characters! On his wiki page, it shows he has voice acted in a few things I grew up with/was exposed to as a kid: Regular Show, Lego The Adventures Of Clutch Powers, and Justice League! Wow! Thats awesome! Im amazed that the same voice behind Maestro is the same voice behind the troll from Lego The Adventures Of Clutch Powers who is quite the funny character!
  16. This coaster model actually was never entirely lost because it was brought to Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 as a coaster you can build and design yourself. Might also be in RCT2 but Im not sure. RCT3 got a rerelease on the first Nintendo Switch just a few years ago and I built my own pipeline coaster in RCT3 2 years ago. I had a lot of fun building it.
  17. Thank goodness! The end of the ride was horrible last summer when I was at Holiday World for 4 days. Rode it 2 times on that trip. I think the second time was rougher. Most of the coaster is plenty smooth to me and then, you know.
  18. Im a visual person too though Im also a writer. I love making drawings and such too as well as the likes of new haunted houses, dark rides, roller coasters, and more for my Minecraft theme park resort home to over 110 roller coasters!
  19. To be frank, this is the first time I have ever had any Phantom Theater dreams as far as I recall XD.
  20. I am delighted to see this. I love how you clearly put time into this and just how great it looks!
  21. I just woke up after THREE back to back strange dreams featuring weird versions of the new Phantom Theater that are absolutely almost nothing like what the ride experience is going to be like. The first two focused on the ride experience while the third was a queue walk through but got cut off due to my alarm going off. The first two also had a really fast spinny part in the ride which makes no sense for obvious reasons. My excitement for Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare runs so deep its embedded within my pysche. As cool as some of what I saw in those dreams was, none of it is what I will actually see on ride. Ive never had 3 back to back dreams about something specific before nor dreams about an upcoming attraction before. This is something I think some of the teams at KI and Sally would love hearing about.
  22. But I want one of the knights! Would make for an interesting training dummy for sword training.. Hah, no way would I wack a piece of Kings Island history/my childhood with one of my steel training swords for real! Also, my room is not exactly a good place for it and the knight has gotta weigh well over 100 pounds and I cant lift that much on my own! So.. go ahead! Have the knight! XD! And Im genuinely thrilled to be able to scroll for all of the items up for auction. Theyre selling off pretty much everything and theres some things I never recall seeing! Im near sighted and only rode Boo Blasters a few time with my glasses on and even then, I only scored over 1000 points 1-3 times. The minimum bid for the knight is $25. Thats such a steal that it would almost be called genuine theft. Of course, there is no way it or any of the other Boo Blasters things are getting sold for $25. Not even the ride signs will end up being sold for so little, Im certain of that. Theyre expecting to make tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands from this.
  23. #3! YEAAAAAAHHHHH! This rocks! I was just thinking not long ago just how huge Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare could be and that it could be the greatest dark ride in the country outside of Disney and Universal. I am SO excited for it!
