Tomb Raider Fair Fall is done
Skippy replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
To prove our point, check out the new flash site for TR:FF and click on the downloads section. There in the top left corner you will find a wallpaper with the concept rendering of what the ride shoud look like when it is complete. As you can see, if the ride is to even come close to resembling that concept art, then they still have some ways to go (in terms of theming). Click the link below to access the TR:FF site: Tomb Raider Firefall Official Website Macromedia Flash Player is needed in order to view this website. Disney has always done their park maps in house (hell, what don't they do themselves?), but take notice to how the Disney maps look more like they were painted and don't have thick outlines like most other park maps CombatStupendous89, I bet you really hate the Cedar Fair park maps as they are as cartoony as they get Citigraph currently designs the Park Map & Guides for Paramount’s Great America, Paramount’s Carowinds, and Paramount’s Kings Island.
-
I don't use them either but I collect them <--Geek!
-
After recently veiwing the new Carowinds and Great America park maps, I couldn't help but notice that they copied the current MGM Studios park map all the way! From the main attractions being on the map with the colors of the area their in behind them, to the location and style of the attractions guide and park legend, its a hardcore copy (even the location of the no smoking symbol). All I have to say is: "Yay, its about time! I like the new look of the maps and I think they made a good decision in making this change!" To view the maps, click on the links below: Paramount's Carowinds Park Map & Guide Adobe Acrobat is needed in order to download the park map. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat download your free copy now. Disney-MGM Studios Parks Map & Guide Thanks goes out to mgmstudios.org for this one! PS: Who designs the park maps for Paramount Parks?

Tomb Raider Fair Fall is done
Skippy replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Your right PKD4LIFE, the scenery is not done yet and from the looks of it only about 60% done! They haven't even finished the exit ramp, so I'd hardly call it complete, still plenty of foliage and artifacts to add. Themeing goes up fast so don't fret (just look at IJ:ST), everyone will be surprised when opening day comes I think PKD's TR:FF will add a different experience that PKI's TR:TR but will be every bit as fun -
Did anyone else notice that PGA has now renamed their water park to Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay Beach Club with a flashy new logo?! If not visit pgathrills.com and check it out!
-
I only hope they don't remove to many trees to make room fore the IJST's que and that they use the same kind of bricks in the queline as on the path. The path connecting Rivertown and Coney Mall was always the most peaceful spot in the park (except down by Paradise Island), I just hope they don't take too much away from the atmosphere. By the way, construction looks great and is moving along really fast, lets just hope PKI's IJST cars are alright and weren't involved in that fire!

Sure, I can see it now, a Ren&Stimpy Adult part cartoon show float Kids: Mommy, why are thay naked and what are they do... Mother: Kids, cover your eyes!?! Has anyone actually seen that show? I think the title explains it, definatly not kids material! Viacom would never let them set foot in Nick Central, Nick hates them (they even have a warning lable on the original series DVD set for containing adult content?) Another show Nick hates that I love is Invader Zim. Like Ren&Stimpy, it was cancelled because Nick didn't like how violent and adult oriented it was (and it costed to much). If anyone here has read any of Jhonen's comics it would make you wonder why they would even consider him for a childrens show! Still, I would love to see a Zim ride, preferably a simulator.
-
Well, Universal Orlando has one, Universal Hollywood has one, Disneyland Resort has one, Tokyo Disneyland Resort has one (the largest in the world)! So what could Skippy be thinking of? A parking structure of course This would certainly be nice because not only would this make room for a City Walk/Downtown Disney type area for PKI but it would also keep you dry from the rain! (I could definatly see CP getting one of these soon knowing how limited on space they are)
-
I wasn't really bothered much with the smokers at PKI. I only though PKI should have enforced their "No Smoking" in lines, enclosed structures, waterpark and kids area policy abit more! It ruined my day when I was stuck between a cigar smoker and a cigarete smoker for 40 minutes in FOF's line I think the smokers favorite place to smoke is in Hanna-Barbera Land (I saw 16 people infront of The Beastie smoking all at once ) Maybe they will have designated smoking areas like Disney and Universal, they did just build one in Boomerang Bay, didn't they?

For anyone who can't wait to hear the Nickelodeon Celebration Parade theme song again (especially dxrunner), check out kingsdominion.com This is gonna be a fun year!

While I think Viacom is running Paramount Parks very well and should keep running them, I don't see that happening as they have their hearts set on relieving themselves of the #1 seasonal theme park chain So the most likely buyer is the quasi-independent company that'll keep things the same (shouldn't be too different), but since the question is who I want to buy the park chain, my answer would have to be Universal (which is unlikely since its owner wants to get out of the theme park industry). While I love Cedar Fair and how they run their parks, they also seem unlikely since they just bought Geauga Lake and are waiting to see how they do (and still recovering). Six Flags is not as bad as eveyone says, slowly they are improving, but they still would dump a ton of money into the park the first two years and all would seem great, then year three comes around and they give no money to the park as they are now in debt and eventually sell it off (where have I seen this before? SFWoA!). While Anheuser Bush would spoil the parks with rides like DarCastle and Atlantis, I would miss the movie themes

LongLiveTheSmurfRide, The Great Movie Ride at Disney-MGM Studios was built to showcase the best movies ever made and actually contains very little from MGM. It contains Paramount's Raiders of the Lost Ark, Fox's Alien, Disney's Mary Poppins/Fantasia, WarnersBro's The Wizard of Oz/Casablanca; just to name a few! All this may be changing though as Sony may force Disney to remove any and all references to MGM as early as June. For more information, click on the link below to read the article posted by Jim Hill Media: http://www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/articles/sh...cle.php?ID=1317 Ben, not true, Paramount Pictures has plenty of famous movies wickedv6, while I like your idea but I don't see it happening as PKI is looking for movies and television shows to theme their rides after (like The Addams Family)

What will Geauga Lake get in 07??
Skippy replied to The-Snapper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom will "soon" be receiving a "Magnum-style" hyper as previously described by Bill Spehn (Vice President/General Manager)! The real question is when, where, and by whom? Six Flags was trying to build the hyper on the SeaWorld side which has a very low hight restriction (double digits). Now that Cedar Fair is moving the water park to the SeaWorld side, that leaves room for a hyper on the Geauga Lake side, which has a way higher height restriction (200s), and will most likely be the location of this new coaster! Hope this clears things up -
Paramount's Kings Dominion has a new park survey featuring all the attractions we've saw in the previous Paramount Parks survey (except Titanic, Snowday, and TVLand Diner) and some reused ideas (Boomerang Bay/Nickelodeon Central expansions). It seems as if these are what they narrowed their 2006/2007 plans down to. It contains the final rendering of Paramount's Kings Dominion's upcoming Tomb Raider: Fire Fall (looks sweet) and some new concept art for The Italian Job: Stunt Track (originally indoor?). Now only if Paramount's Kings Island could get one of those Top Gun coasters Click on the link below to take the survey: http://www.parkfeedback.com/research/surve...px?s=PKDRIDES05 Note: This survey is intended only for people who visited Paramount's Kings Dominion last season!

PKICentral.com sponsors X-trem Coaster Challenge!
Skippy replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Your not kidding, the prizes are seriously worth building for Now all I have to do is go out and buy Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 -
Feel free to skip the first paragraph as its only a history breif! In 1999 Disney began testing a new system that was intended to help reduce the waiting time at some of their more popular attractions. This system called "FastPass" was first introduced at the Animal Kingdom. Following its successful debut there and with the sigh of relief from Disney guests that were heard all the way to Disney corporate headquarters it was expanded to all four major theme parks. So successful that in the April of 2000, Universal Orlando introduced their own version of the FassPass system, dubbed "Universal Express." This slightly modified version of Disney's FassPass gave park guests even more convenience as they were now given a choice of times to select from. Nothing would prepare the world for what theme park giant SixFlags had in store for their themeparks. In 2001, they introduced the "Fastlane" system to many of their parks (which required an extra fee). This was an advanced form of the FastPass system that used "Q-bots," a pager like device that controlled your schedule (making it more convenient for the guest that pocessed them and a nightmare for everyone else). In 2003 CedarFair's flagship park Cedar Point introduced the "Freeway" system. This is a downgraded form of the fastpass system that used stamps for only a limited amount of guest on only a limited amount of attractions! So my question is: When will Paramount Kings Island get a FastPass type of system installed at their most crowded attractions (Italian Job: Stunt Track, Tomb Raider: The Ride, Flight of Fear, Drop Zone, Delirium, and Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle)? I don't remember when but I thought I heard a rumor that Paramount Parks had patented a new FastPass system Can someone please confirm or deny this and feel free to share your opinions! Note: Please take into consideration that not everyone who visits PKI has a season pass with all the benifits that we get
-
Could someone please point out where I claimed there is something wrong with PKI Thanks! PS: SOB_TOM, I won't be dissapointed this season at all, The Italian Job: Stunt Track looks awsome!
-
Yeah, I know what you mean Alien Seed Not only do those Universal/Disney guys dress to the attractions, but sometimes they get into character! Like when we were in line for Revenge of the Mummy at Universal, all the ride operators were acting like mindless zombies to help move the story along (the story is the real Imhotep has awakened on the set of the Mummy 3. Being in a real working movie studio, you get to go behind the scenes of the Mummy 3 but only to find all the film crew has been hypnotized)

Since allot of people seemed disappointed with the last batch of concept attractions that Paramount Parks dished out, myself included, I thought I would make a list of people who could do a better job of designing themed attractions (rides, shows, and restaurants) than Paramount Park's current design team. These people have designed whole parks so maybe they could design a new area for PKI (just a thought). I really hope the people at Parmount takes a look at this. Feel free to comment (bash) on my opinons, share yours, or add to the list KirkDesignInc (my favorite) ScottShermanDesign TotallyFunCompany Note: I don't hate Paramount Park's design team in any way and don't mean to offend, I just feel they could be better as Mission Impossible: Live and TVLand Diner were the only 2 concepts that I liked out of 11! I'm still hoping for the Addams Family concept to come to life
-
The one attraction that stands out from the rest is "Dora the Explorer’s™ Azul™ Adventure!" It sounds like it will be four minute long outdoor-darkride with some heavy theming and a storyline. This ride just may pull off the Disneyesque family rides they have been pushing for

New Paramount Parks site
Skippy replied to TeknoScorpion's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Oh man, you beat me to it I was going to make a site devoted to all the Paramount Parks (especially for parks like PCW and PGA that don't really have a large fansite like PKICentral) Anyway, good luck on the site TeknoScorpion! -
Well, it looks like Paramount's Carowinds is getting a Nickelodeon Central expansion for 2005! What leads me to beleive this is their homepage now features an image that says "New attractions for 2005!" and then shows their Nickelodeon Central logo under it. Not only that, but screamscape.com received some new construction images showing lots of the area being repainted (orange and green), with concrete replacing what once was asphalt (stay away from our eagles with that Nick crap). Why should we care? Because they're getting rid of their Zoom Zone and Animation Station for it! Which, if the rumors are true about our Nickelodeon Central expansion next year, we could loose part of (or all of) our Hanna-Barbera Land with it. So lets all just hope I'm wrong http://www.carowinds.com/ / http://www.screamscape.com/html/paramount_s_carowinds.html Note: None of this information is confirmed but expect an announcement on January 31st.
