  1. with the addition of Banshee... and a retheme of Flight Deck to The Bat (I mean, really, how many fighter jets go cruising through a forest?)- I could see Action Zone rethemed to something else. looking forward to it!- of course, if it happens that way.
  2. skeptical about the whole "Bat" winged coaster. Me thinks it was meant to be found. First of all, The Bat logo doesn't have the "TM" for it and when building website, new pages are generally built on a "test" site before publishing. I think the marketing staff generated those pages to be found. HOWEVER, in the transformation from Nick Universe to Planet Snoopy- they did have those pages in plain view. Don's a good PR front (and hard working... every time I'm there with my family we see him. at ALL hours- he may live there), but I'm betting their team (Marissa (KI) and Matt (CF)) have got the goods on this.
  3. I like the Action Zone retheme post someone had earlier- ie rename Flight Deck to a nostalgic "The Bat"- fits better. Not too many fighter jets go cruising through a forest.
  4. i'd ride that.
  5. from Cincinnati.com http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130802/NEWS01/308020050
  6. WLW is reporting that the announcement will happen next week and will break some sort of world record.
  7. Concert space can spring up anywhere. For years Mason had HUGE concerts at Corwin Nixon Park. The stage was set up for the event, gone a day after. I'm not sure what they would put in the space where Timberwolf is that would be worth razing the area for... that they can't do in other, much better, areas.
  8. Steve Miller's Rockin Roller Coaster...
  9. This thread needs a theme song. My suggestion:
  10. I appreciate this post. Last year a few of us 30-something families took our kids to what was billed a "family" show at the park. Having owned season passes for 18 of the past 26 years (yes I calculated)- it was the ONLY show I walked out of. TOTALLY inappropriate for kids. Ed, on his own was.... OK- the jokes were off-color and somewhat stale (to me anyway)- but the side shows/dancers.... was more than I could handle. What's odd is that when our group of 3 families left, the door attendant seemed to know why and said that families leaving during that particular show seemed rather common. I have 7 and 4 year old daughters and not really ready to explain pole dancing and lack of clothing to them. I did get what I thought was a personal response about our "concern" stating that he was available to speak by email, phone, or in person. Of course when I tried to take him up on the offer the inbox returned empty.
  11. I'm going to guess that their more accurate response is.... "suckers..." Also, the roller coaster just posted at Sea World (can't think of the name)- is one of my favorites.
  12. WOW- did anyone happen to catch all the clues in his comment??? For those waiting... Obviously talking to people that go to the park.. and there'll be "waiting" involved. Clearly a ride that has a line. Announce what we're building for the future... seems to be some reference to a "building"- so I'm betting its indoors. and it may open in the future. Grab yourself a Snickers bar- product placement. Snickers is obviously going to be the sponsor of ride- because it will really satisfy you! Going to be a while- the thrills will be so thrilling that the thrill will stick with you for a while. So- by my estimation through analyzing every word from Don- Kings Island IS building something. It will be in the future. Built inside a building, sponsored by Snickers- who is owned by the Mars Corporation (and before someone corrects me its actually Mars, Inc.)- and placed in an expanded X-base area as a Mars themed roller coaster that is 250 feet tall (a reference to the number of calories in a typical Snickers Bar). Since it will be sponsored by Snickers, they will have their slogan all over the line turnstyles with the mid-90's slogan: "Not going anywhere for a while? Grab a Snickers." And obviously built by B&M... because for some who's tummys can't handle "spicy" milk the milk chocolate will spur a B.... well, never mind. Solved. Decoded. Swish. Nothing but net. Dwight fashioning his best trolling persona... (i wasted a lot of time on that sarcasm... hope someone enjoyed it. back to work)
  13. Combined with a large addition for 2014, forums like KIC are breeding grounds for trolls. You have to wonder why parents allow kids to be on the internet that much. agreed. though, to be fair, it's not just the teens with too much time on their hands. As for the mods, at last check- this wasn't a paying gig. I'm sure Ryan has better things to do than patrol the site like he did 8 years ago and I haven't seen Dane's name on here in probably years... it could be a lot of "letting the inmates run the asylum."
  14. it always seems that in the May-June corridor (corresponding to the end of the school year) there is an influx of bored teens looking to be an antagonist. Not to stroke them all with a broad brush- but it seems to happen every year at this time.
  15. from rcdb.com this wouldn't even go under "unknown" yet?
  16. kind of surprised this hasn't made it to the "New for 2014" section of RCDB yet.
  17. seems like this public relations snafu could have been averted with a simple "What if" session.
  18. Don's the PR guy. he gets paid to field questions (clever and dumb).
  19. Let me echo shark then. I agree entirely, they challenged the design team on several facets of the Gate Keeper coaster. It wasn't just a coaster installed fit the sake if having a coaster. I realize that Firehawk was a transfer, but was a classic example of a Kinzel era coaster placement for the sake of having a coaster. The new ki coaster will be well planned, thought out, and uniquely Kings Island. Can't wait.
  20. Couple of things- and I don't know if this is the right thread to do this on, but I viewed the video here- so you tell me. I just watched the Matt O... (however its spelled) interview- and WOW, what an outstanding mind to have taken the reigns of the CF park chain. Whereas I think Kinzel was mostly about numbers and build the biggest, best attraction that makes the biggest statement and it will bring bodies in the door. I think the new CEO is about the guest experience. I love what he said that "most of the people that come in the park a second time come back because they had fun the first time." Has no interest in copying all parks into a single brand... "there are 11 brands" Building better attractions that parents will ride with their kids (but more importantly)- not "because" of their kids. the leading of his conversation leads me to think also that within CF there is a department developing akin to the Disney "Imagineers"- I could be wrong, but many things he mentioned made it seem like they are challenging designers to create things that give the customer a completely unique experience. I could be wrong, but I'm willing to place a few sheckels that whatever is being built on the former SOB grounds will be a uniquely Kings Island experience. I'm willing to bet also that there will be some cosmetic changes coming in the coming years to themed areas of the KI grounds.
  21. Wake me up when an official announcement is made. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
  22. no, Terp. it's "Partially Sunny." everyone knows that.
  23. Have an idea. Find a construction guy enjoying a break with a danish. If no danish is found on his person buy him a Dippin Dots bowl. Tell him you're THE Dippin Dots guy and you need the scoop. If he's half a man, he'll spill the beans.
  24. was someone making reference that I was being mean-spirited to someone earlier? I didn't go back and read all of the comments, but all I was saying is that I'm hoping no one is trespassing on private property at the B&M location. I have never been to said location so I couldn't tell you how public or private it is. I just hope that in the pursuit of "what's being built" no one is infringing on legal technicalities. And I'll leave open the possibility that no one has. Like I said, I have no idea what the privacy/security is around that place. Nothing mean-spirited meant.
  25. I'm sure its mentioned in here somewhere- but with the pictures taken of coaster track in the east side of Cincy... just to make sure no one is trespassing for the sake of a enthusiast blog, right? maybe there was permission given, maybe it's a public lot, maybe this has already been discussed. Either way, this thread is giving me the impression that we seem to have a lot of time on our hands.
