  1. KI would have to be braindead to NOT try and land that guy. IMHO.
  2. ah.. ok, but I just meant the early 70's in general, but thanks for the clarification.
  3. I really enjoyed seeing the park from 1973. Very little film exists of the park from the early 70's, at least that I know of.
  4. If you're interested. Rare Partridge Family at Kings Island on VHS
  5. exactly. I had no idea it would tear my back up. I have known others who have ridden it without any major damage to their body, so I had no idea I would be hurt. I have not ridden it since.
  6. The first time I rode SOB about 2 years ago, it slammed my back so hard, I thought I may have slipped a disc or bruised a vertebrae in my back. I had to miss two days of work, and then work the other three days SORE... The ride is ROUGH.. I've ridden hundreds of coasters and SOB is the ONLY one I've ever had beat me up so bad that I miss work. The Beast is rough, but the SOB kicks yer booty!
  7. You want to hear about people fighting about stupid stuff? I remember when I had to break my kids up because they were arguing over a TV character named "Timmy the Tooth".. They were arguing that Timmy the Tooth didn't have teeth because he was a giant tooth already, how could he have teeth? To which the other child replied, oh yeah, then how can he eat then? Hummm...?? This went on for like 10 minutes.. It was insane.. RIP Pixie and Dixie.
  8. Bring back Enchanted Voyage!
  9. yes, and how.
  10. I still think KI needs to assign areas as official farting zones. The park could do with at least 19 of those too.
  11. I have the episode on videotape somewhere and I'm pretty sure they mention the name of the park and the city. I also have a film maker buddy of mine who took film of Kings Island in the late 70's. I'm working on getting it digitized so you can see it. I'll keep ya posted.
  12. Don't change the name of The Beastie!
  13. Since I heard that they're gutting the park of Hanna Barbara to make room for the Viacom property Nickelodeon, I had to get over there today and take a few photos. So I braved the cold, filled my car with gas and drove over from Indy. I just posted the photos if you care to view them. The Headless Horseman haunted trail was pretty cool. I did that one tonight. As someone who grew up with the Hanna Barbara cartoons it is sad to see them go, but I understand the park must do this in order to survive. It was a chance for me to say goodbye to my pals before it was too late. Oh, and Delirium still wasn't running.. wasn't running when I visited in June or today.. That's one of the few things at the park I've never had a chance to ride.. WAH! Italian job didn't open until the afternoon. Everything else was super groovy. One of the gift shops had a 50% off sale, so I got me a stuffed Quick Draw McGraw toy, a Scooby Doo coffee mug and a few T-shirts. It was a great day at the park. I hope you all can make it to the park before it closes for the year.. Only 3 days left.
  14. Some New Old Photos posted.
  15. The price of gas, and the weather both played a big part in keeping me away from the park yesterday and today. I "might" go next weekend if it's a bit warmer.
  16. Thanks everybody. I'm gonna try and squeeze a visit in over the next few weeks. It costs a lot more to drive over there now with these insane gas prices..
  17. I see that my kids favorite ride Son of Beast is closed for the season, and they're not too happy about that. It's definately a deciding factor on whether we pay to come over for Fearfest. It's a 2+ hr drive for us to visit, so I was wondering if anybody could tell me what other rides are closed during Fearfest? Also, I updated my Flashback gallery with some new features, and some new photos.
  18. I'm still ****ed they renamed it from The Scooby Doo to The Beastie. It will always be The Scooby Doo to me no matter how many cute Nickelodeon stickers they put on it.
  19. Well, at least his last name wasn't Gastole.
  20. The ice show at KI was awesome. Shame they got rid of it. That place is so boring now. Nothing more than a giant pizza parlor now. I may have video of it myself, but have loads of tapes to go through to find it.
  21. If anything, it's a good PR move.
  22. The Elephant is named Snorky. He was one of the Banana Splits. A show I loved as a child. When KI 1st opened they were seen in the part a lot. They're even on old postcards from the park. The others were Fleagle, Bingo and Drooper. I loved the show Danger Island they used to play on there, it was ultra-goofy and fun. The way TV should be!
  23. I still miss The Enchanted Voyage
  24. Something deep in my soul cringes knowing a lightweight like Nickelodeon is taking over the legendary Hanna Barbera. RIP HBL - The place will never be the same without you.
  25. Thanks for the heads up about the Bavarian Beetle and Sky Ride.
