  1. PKIworker - the only reason I worded it that way is because of the rule about not saying stuff that wouldn't be known to the public otherwise. The website where I got that information is not available to the general public (to my knowledge anyway), so I did not wish to say who it was. I figured PKI would have given more information to the public if they had wanted to, and was not trying to make it look like there was something really secret about this. On a related note, what exactly is DIAA? I couldn't find any information about them online (most of my searching just turned up results relating to NCAA Division 1AA sports). I am quite familiar with Lexmark and found that they have offices on Irwin-Simpson Road in Mason, but couldn't find anything about DIAA, and have never even heard of them.
  2. Velma is my favorite.
  3. This has nothing to do with IJST. As the site says, it's a private company event - meaning a private event for a local company. This company happens to be quite well known and has offices in the Mason area, although the company's headquarters are not located here. That's all I will say about it.
  4. I was also there on Sunday (of course most of the time I was working)... When I got there shortly before 1, I wanted to do something quick before hitting the School of Rock Show (which was excellent), so I decided to go to the top of Eiffel Tower, because it had been so long since I'd been up there. Great view as always. After the School of Rock show was over, I decided to go see how many rides I could cram in to the next 2 hours (I had to be at work at 3:45). Went over to Action Zone, and was going to ride Son of Beast, but it was closed. One of the associates at the front of the line said it was bacause "maintenance is doing something with it" (obviously...), and to check back about 2:15 or 2:30 for an update. Since I was in the area, I decided to hit Top Gun instead, and waited about 15 or 20 minutes for that. When I got closer to the station, I noticed that one of my supervisors was working there. I didn't know that HB ever sent people to Action Zone, but I guess they were short on help at Top Gun. I got the back seat in Car 4, and enjoyed the ride. I still wish they would allow you to swing back and forth longer after they stop you outside the station, but I guess they have reasons for stopping you from swinging. After briefly chatting with my supervisor, I went back for an update on SOB, which was still closed. This time we were told to check back around 3:30 for an update, so I gave up. Took a brief look at the line for Delirium and decided to pass because it was almost 2:30 and I didn't want to be late for work. Headed over towards Coney Mall via the "back way" (past Bubba Gump's). Stopped at the ship because there wasn't much of a line, and got very back seat on the left side. After the associates pulled a young boy in the row in front of me off because he was too short, his mother proceeded to complain loudly about how they had paid to get him into the park and they "wouldn't let him ride any of the rides", and something about how he wouldn't ride anything in "kiddie land". They also pulled another young kid off, but his parents were more understanding it seems. The ride was quite enjoyable, as we tried to "outscream" the other side of the ship. Always a fun ride. After this, I headed over to Coney Mall, and stopped briefly to watch the folks on Slingshot there by Bubba Gump's. While I was in the area, I decided to do Adventure Express, which was a walk-on (3rd row, front car). I could have stayed on again because there was nobody waiting for my seat, but once is enough for me. Got to Coney Mall, and immediately headed to Scrambler, which is one of my favorite rides. Short line as always, and a really fun ride, with the exception of a kid in the seat behind me yelling "Oh my god" throughout the entire ride (it's not that scary!). Following that, I headed to Zephyr, and enjoyed that ride as well. Once again, they had to tell some idiot to keep his hands and feet to himself and to not twist in the swing. After getting off Zephyr, I watched some folks attempt to win a prize at Lucky Striker. This time they had to hit 150 to do so. One guy came up and hit 145 a couple times, but nobody else really came close. Then some guy came up and hit 150 twice. He chose the monkey as his prize. Always good to see people getting their money's worth off those games. By this time, it was getting close to 3, and I noticed dark clouds in the area, so I was hoping it wouldn't pour. Decided to take a spin on the bumper cars, and had a blast running into random people and purposely running into those driving the "wrong way". After this, it was almost 3 exactly, so I decided to go see what else I could squeeze in before work. The line for Vortex was really long, so I chose mindless entertainment and waited 15 to 20 minutes for Spongebob. I always enjoy this, even though it's really pretty stupid. After this, I ducked into the nearby restroom, which was the cleanest one I've seen in the park so far this season, and changed into my work uniform. By this time it was almost 3:30, and I had a little bit of a hike from there to HB. Cut back down through Rivertown since it was the fastest route, and watched some people feeding popcorn to the geese (not sure if you're supposed to do that or not). On the way I found someone who wanted to know how to get to the waterpark, and didn't want to take the train, so I just told them to follow me since I was heading that way. I had a great time and was amazed at how much I was able to cram into 3 and a half hours. Still don't know why Son of Beast was closed though.
  5. Reclaimer - I agree with you about that guy. I think PKI is smart to do this. Otherwise they'd have tons of people complaining that they spent 5 or 6 hours standing in line and never got to ride it, and how they could have been riding other rides instead, etc.
  6. I also said 4. Whoever said "1" should be banned from the board

  8. Yes, there was a big rainbow at the entrance to HB many years ago. Who knows whatever happened to that.
  9. That's great I love the "comments" from Fred...
  10. Official employee calendar says it's the 5th.
  11. For those who have never been to Holiday World, it's really easy to find... Just go straight down I-71 to Louisville, then hop on I-64 west for a couple hours. It's right off I-64 (there are plenty of signs in the area).
  12. You might be able to walk onto some rides next weekend. A lot depends on how the weather is though. I wouldn't count on being able to walk onto too many rides though.
  13. I'm working closing shift both Saturday and Sunday, but plan to arrive early enough to catch this show. Should be a good one (better than that country show they've got).
  14. Hmmm... a "designated farting area"... interesting idea... The people from the games in Coney Mall and the photo people in the front of the park can be annoying at times, but that's just something you have to live with. I haven't really noticed any rude employees, although I haven't visited PKI more than about 6 times in a season in several years. I do agree that employees shouldn't be discussing non-work-related things except on break, though. This is my first season working at PKI and I absolutely love it. Even when guests are being rude and/or obnoxious to me, I try hard to be polite and smile. I started the "annoying guests" thread because I thought it would be fun to discuss annoying things some guests do. I was not trying to imply that all guests are annoying. The majority of guests are not. There are just a few who stand out and seem to be going out of their way to annoy us, and those are the ones we're talking about.
  15. I doubt that the lady will have much merit in this case. Amazing how The Vortex is still one of the most popular rides in the park... As for that Shakespeare quote, it was this one (courtesy of Google)
  16. I sincerely doubt that such a thing is possible. You're going to have to support all that wood somehow, and wood is nowhere near as strong as welded steel would be. Plus, it would require special rails and probably special trains as well, so it would be quite expensive.
  17. According to this, it was where King Cobra used to be...
  18. I would also recommend giving PKI this lady's name and number so they can deal with her however they want. I'm not sure how they would get your information, but I agree that it's best to direct this issue to PKI and let them handle it. If it were a marketing research firm of some sort (there are several around here), it would be different.
  19. The pre-recorded spiel for Drop Zone was most likely made by Paramount. I would assume that the others are made by the park, Paramount or the company that made the ride.
  20. One time I saw someone hop over the fence there by the first curve on The Beast (the one right out of the station) to get their basketball. Too bad no employees saw them.
  21. Sid - I apologize for the misunderstanding. I understand your frustration, and hope you get the information you're looking for. PKI generally has 3 people on each coaster - one driver and two others (one on either side of the train) who check restraints and seatbelts. There are a few exceptions of course, but most coasters have three people.
  22. Sorry for the confusion Dane. I don't actually know anything about Reptar, although I know people who would. Sid - just have your rides manager call PKI and explain the situation. I'm sure whoever answers the phone can direct their call to the appropriate contact person.
  23. Why didn't you come visit me when you were in HB??? I was there from 9:15 til shortly after 4 on Saturday
