My supervisors certainly don't encourage slowness, and they do encourage us to be friendly and everything. I'm trying my best to be friendly

No, because then they'd have to re-name everything and a lot of the paramount themeing would probably be lost.

GOLD PASS VIP FRIDAY NIGHT/ITALIAN JOB STUNT TRACK
Oldiesmann replied to pkiboy's topic in Coming Attractions
We're definitely going to be busy this weekend... Other things going on: Music In The Parks (Saturday) Music Showcase Festival (Saturday) Job Fair (Saturday & Sunday) All that combined with the IJST Technical Preview is going to really bring people out to the park. -
What do you want to see for the 2005 season
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
I would like to see an interactive park map on the site. Visitors could click on a ride/restaurant and get detailed info on it... For rides: Ride name (along with any other common names for that ride) When it was put in Who built it Ride capacity Height requirements Any other interesting details you want to add For restaurants: A menu listing all the items the restaurant sells and how much each item is. The best way I can think of to do this would be to use Flash (although I don't know anything about it, so I can't help). Currently, only a few rides have detailed information listed, and there isn't anything listing the height requirements for the rides. An interactive park map on the website would be a great feature because guests would know what to expect before they visited. Also, I would love to see the return of costumed characters wandering through the park during the day, in addition to the current scheduled "meet and greet" things. I remember how much fun it was to "meet" Yogi Bear and other Hanna-Barbera characters when I was little, and I'm sure that it would be a lot of fun for kids today as well. -
No it isn't... It might be based on Giant Top Spin, but it's not the same ride. Also, a few minor editorial comments regarding my last post. Six Flags no longer owns the park I was referring to (Six Flags Worlds of Adventure). The park is now owned by CedarFair LP (same group that owns Cedar Point) and is called Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom. The ride I was referring to is now called Texas Twister. Player - I was going by what was on Huss' site, and didn't realize that Six Flags no longer owned that park. They do however have a small water park in the Columbus area (Six Flags Wyandot Lake).

The Beach Waterpark
Oldiesmann replied to Enchanted Voyager's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've never been to The Beach, but I did go to the now-defunct Surf Cincinnati once, right before it closed... The Beach looks really cool though. -
Re-theming Rivertown wouldn't work real well because they'd have to rip out a lot of buildings and re-theme Whitewater Canyon, which is one of the most popular water rides in the park. Personally, I'd like to see them do something with the "ghost town" along the train route between Rivertown and Boomerang Bay.

Sorry... I should have thought about that. As a Support Specialist for SMF, I'm always reminding people to use the board's "search" feature before posting, so I should know better.

I think the problem with Magilla Gorilla's Grill is that it was right next to Busytown Grill, which serves a lot of the same stuff (although they've got a bigger selection). I don't know much about International Restaurant, although I have always wondered what they use that space for if there's not a restaurant there. I'm sure you get a great view from up there.

How about "Other" or "None of the above"? Personally, I'd like to see Huss' Giant Top Spin ride. Their 2 most recent rides at PKI (Delirium and Tomb Raider: The Ride) have been a huge success, and this looks like a really fun ride. It would also give us another way to compete with Six Flags in Aurora, Ohio (they've got the regular "Top Spin" (called The Tornado))

It's still pretty popular, but it's in a weird spot, and with Son of Beast so close, I think many people just forget that it's there.

GOLD PASS VIP FRIDAY NIGHT/ITALIAN JOB STUNT TRACK

I'll be there because I have to work then. Sounds like it's going to be busy this weekend... Thanks for the heads up -
Ok... Found some more info on the ride. The reason I don't remember it is because it was removed in 1995, although the fatality occurred in June of 1991 (just a year after the ride opened).

Interesting... I don't even remember that ride. I'll have to go googling for more info. Thanks

I have noticed the remnants of an old ride back behind where the Fast Pitch game is now in Coney Mall, but have been unable to figure out what was there. My dad doesn't remember what used to be there, and all I can see from the top of the hill on The Racer is a big circular concrete slab with a hole in the middle of it... Anyone know what used to be there and why they didn't do something else with that spot?
-
When my supervisor was giving us a tour of the park several weeks ago, he said that they were expecting 4- to 5-hour lines for that ride... As much as I want to ride it as soon as it opens, I am not about to stand in line that long...
-
I have heard that Kings Island isn't doing the campground this year... Anyone know anything about that? I've only been there once (long story, but basically I ended up riding the tram down there because everyone else on the tram was getting off there and I was on the very inside of my row), but everyone who was there seemed to be enjoying it...
-
Magilla Gorilla's Grill is still there. I do miss whatever was in Festhaus before Larosas moved in. It really added to the German feel of that area.

Paramount Story is a small park-like area back behind the Caroussel that basically is a walk-through history of Parmount Pictures. It's a quiet, peaceful place away from the noise and business of the rest of the park. Look for the big gates...
-
Yeah... Whatever happened to all the Hanna Barbera characters? The only one I ever see anymore is Scooby Doo, and that's just a meet-and-greet type thing. I haven't seen characters roaming the park in several years... Also, I seem to remember some sort of a rainbow at the entrance to HB... whatever happened to that?

They've got the land to expand? Where? Unless they take out the campground or expand back behind The Beast (which would require a lot of additional changes to that area), there's really not much room for expansion anymore. I think PKI is great the way it is now, but if they can find room to expand without taking out what little is left of the Kings Mills area, then that's fine with me. Maybe they should rip out Adventure Express - nice ride, but the ending is really lame.

I'm only 22, and so I don't remember half of the rides on this list. I vaguely remember the monorail, though and also remember the Smurfs boat ride (was one of my favorite rides as a kid). The other rides I miss are King Cobra and also the old Witch's Cauldren ride (whatever that was called - the big spinning teacup type thing). As far as storage - I read on one site that the King Cobra is stored over by The Racer someplace, but I don't know if that's true or not. The Eagles ride got sent to the Paramount park in North Carolina, and the Monorail is now part of the ever-expanding tourist trap known as Jungle Jim's International Farmer's Market in Fairfield, Ohio (http://www.junglejims.com for those who aren't familiar with the place).
