  1. Kings Island Does It Again! Grandson of Karl Wallenda looks to surpass grandfather's famous 1974 park feat with two death-defying high wire walks as part of the biggest July 4 bash in Kings Island history Get ready for one of the most thrilling days of the summer, as Kings Island does it again with another history making event on the Fourth of July. Thirty-four years ago, in 1974, the late, great legendary high wire walker Karl Wallenda successfully completed a 1,800-foot skywalk at Kings Island, setting a world's distance record. On Independence Day, park visitors will have an opportunity to witness history as the grandson of Wallenda, Rick Wallenda, will try to surpass his grandfather's famous park feat with two death-defying skywalks at Kings Island. Wallenda will first attempt a spectacular skywalk 112-foot above ground on 5/8-inch cable that will start at the Eiffel Tower, go over the Royal Fountain (which, by the way, is longer than a football field) as it shoots 10,000 gallons of water into the air, and end at the flagpole outside the front gate, covering a total distance of more than 900 feet! The first walk is at 2pm. Later in the day at 7pm, Wallenda will look to make history as he attempts to walk an incredible distance of 2,000 feet through International Street. No safety nets or harnesses will be used by Wallenda on either of his skywalks – the only way a Wallenda will perform. Wallenda's record-breaking attempt comes on the heels of one of the most talked about events of the year, when daredevil "Kaptain" Robbie Knievel, son of the late Evel Knievel, successfully jumped over 24 Coke Zero trucks May 24 at Kings Island, the site of one of his father's most famous stunts. The Fourth of July at Kings Island will also include a spectacular air show, sky divers, special appearances by Hanna Barbera characters and the Clown Band, and the largest fireworks display in the 36-year history of the park. "With all the exciting events we have planned for the Fourth of July, Kings Island is a great place for families to celebrate the holiday," said Greg Scheid, Kings Island's vice president and general manager. 2. Its a fake story, but its true this persons a troll.
  3. I have it set up for us to upload pictures only. It doesn't like being synced with the forums as nicely as I like.
  4. The Cincinnati reds came over to play in the park today. At 1 and 3 the Reds put on a show in the International Showplace. The show consisted of the Mascots, the pump up crew, and the Cincinnati Reds cheerleaders. Following their performances, 3 reds players came out for a Q and A session. First the mascots were out warming op the crowd. The cheerleaders came out and danced to few songs. The pump up crew came out to throw out t shirts and other reds merch. The mascots came back out while the players were getting ready. Out came 3 players for the first session. All questions came from the crowd. One of the many in the park sporting Reds apparel. Most questions ended in humor. The cheerleaders asked to see their "touchdown dance." To which none of the players would, except for "hitting the rock." Blow up in front of International Showplace. 5. I heard about this last night, sad situation.
  6. As I recall last year, the park didnt get busy till about 8pm.
  7. The Reds shows sounds interesting.
  8. Visit Kings Island Sunday, June 29, and see the stars of The Young and Restless during the Joyce Becker Soap Opera Festival. Enjoy two Question & Answer sessions with actors Christian LeBlanc, Greg Rikaart, Daniel Goddard and actress Emily O'Brien. The event is free with park admission!
  9. Six Flags will build one 101 lanes next year if its a new record.
  10. I actually loved having it the day before last year.
  11. When you buy online, it gives you a PDF to download and print via email. You can do that w/o worrying about compromising your card.
  12. Go to the library or a friend house. The front gate accepts all major credit cards. Bring cash for the parking lot fee of $10.
  13. This gets stickied as the best trip report ever.
  14. From the Cox media hub, Although Knievel hit just shy of the 231 feet he need to break the world distance record he set in 1998, he did break the record for jumping semis. 19 was the previous record.
  15. He is still flying over them, the last 3 trucks simply have a platform over them that if he does come up short, he lands of flat wood and can possibly save it rather than ending up between trucks in a very very bad situation. When Guinness measures jumps, its from the tip of the launch ramp to wherever the front of rear tire first touches ground.
  16. Amazing shots, gonna be a fun day today.
  17. You will get to see it.
  18. The building was called Cinema 180 and was used for laser tag. It is now currently used for storage.
  19. Your platinum pass is only a gold pass at Kings Island, entitling you to free parking and the ability to park in the gold pass parking. The area opposite the handicapped parking is for people who pay $15 dollars to park there. Hence the reason you would have had to pay a extra $5 to park there.
  20. I wasn't pointing out your "opinion" but rather the fact that your metal image of a launch ramp and landing ramp is slightly subpar of real life.
