Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
BoddaH1994 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
Exact same thing happened to me. I wanted to see the splash so I turned around and got nailed. I thought it was funny. -
Personally, I think the Haunt poster rocks... And if you were wondering if Haunt is included in an '09 pass...

This is just a reminder that Kings Island will be open this Friday, April 24th from 5pm to 10pm. This is a great opportunity to ride Diamondback, The Beast and any other great Kings Island attraction. Gold Pass and Platinum Pass early access to Diamondback and The Beast will begin at 4:30pm. Ryan

The electronic response to SIX's delisting has been interesting. I have the SIX ticker as part of my Vista widgets and it just appears as a blank line and $0.13 next to it. My Fidelity account shows the ticker with $0.19 next to it, but if you click on the symbol for a detailed quote it can't find it. According to SIX's web site, it's currently trading for $0.13.

Typically the press release for Halloween Haunt containing details of the attractions is released around Labor Day.

When the ropes dropped at 10:00am, the line for Diamondback stretched from the entrance of the ride, circumnavigated the park and came back to Diamondback. How long did you wait to ride?

AWESOME Beverage Deal for Passholders at KI!
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I'm not sure how allowing everyone to buy them is a rip off. Season pass holders get a TON of perks at KI and I thought having the drink wrist bands being only for pass holders was kind of silly from the start. I bought 2 or 3 of them last year and they never check to see if I had a pass anyway. -
If you see things like a new a new seatbelt here or there it's not a big deal. Things like that are common in winter rehab.

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
BoddaH1994 replied to tigellinus's topic in Kings Island
Don't forget to vote in Beast1979's poll about your impressions of Diamondback. I guess I should throw in my thoughts at this point... I thought the ride was spectacular. The interesting part is, and I think many of you will find this out in the near future, each row gives you a completely different sensation. I found that the first row and the last row -- although having their own unique and quirks were not the best seats. Oddly enough, I thought row 1 of the 2nd last car gave the best rides. Going down that second hill, the negative Gs almost force you into a standing position. The best part is that you get that floating air time like none other... not only do you float but it FORCES you up, and it just doesn't stop! Does anyone else think the splashdown was horribly underrepresented in the animation? I could just sit there and watch that all day. -
You guys weren't kidding about the "unlicensed" KIC shirts. I probably saw two dozen today! Thanks for your support!!!

Spring is here, and you know what that means – Kings Island is now open to the public on weekends it's time for another summer of high thrills, wet and wild water rides and memories that will last a life time! Opening day commenced a little early for some lucky individuals. Kings Island held an auction for those who wished to be amongst the first to ride Diamondback, Kings Island's new 230' steel monster. The Diamondback auction raised an astounding $102,000 for A Kid Again, a charity that is dedicated to enriching the lives of children with life threatening illnesses and their families by providing healing times of respite through fun-filled group activities and destination events, which they call adventures. A special thank you goes out to all of the dedicated KICentral members who used their hard-earned money on this great cause. Anyone who was in attendance can tell you it was a very proud moment – not only did they get to be one of the first to ride Diamondback, but they also helped make someone's life a little better. Join Marty as he showcases some of his favorite inventions including a bubble gum dress, a head sharpener the and largest balloon in the world. Be careful -- Marty has a tendency to pick a marshmallow fight with the audience! This hilarious 25 minute exhibition is fun for both kids and adults alike. Click here to see photos of Marty's Party! Country music has taken the Festhaus by storm once again with the all-new show Down Home Country. With such incredible classics, even those who are not country music fans are sure to have a great time. Click here to see photos of the all-new Down Home Country! To help kick off the 2009 season, Kings Island hosted some additional entertainment including Mr. Cowpie and his Party Animals. Mr. Cowpie was on hand to show off some of his favorite pets, sing some songs and have a few laughs with the young ones. Also for opening day, Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffett cover group that rocked the International Street Bandstand with two amazing live shows on Saturday, entertained the park. Once you see this thing operate you'd see how much more realistic 1620 is than 1000. It operates like none other. As soon as a train leaves the station another is pulling in. None of that waiting around stuff that you get with other rides.
-
That's something that you may have to find out on Saturday morning. I know in the past all of the dry park water rides had opened with the park except WWC.

So what did GatorGirl do with the extra teddy bear since both you AND Santa got her one? Wonderful, wonderful trip report.

All I could find on their web site was that with the upgraded pass you can get into all of the Soak City waterparks.
