  1. Just got an answer back from Kings Island and it would be good at all Cedar Fair parks for the rest of this year. Cool.
  2. Question. If you upgrade from a Gold to a prestige plus or platinum plus does that include unlimited fall visits to Cedar Point or is the "unlimited fall visits" just for Kings Island and the other Cedar Fair parks entry not start until next season? I am guessing the latter.
  3. Super excited about this. I've been waiting for this since I first visited about 12 years ago when I thought that this ride could be so cool if it was still retro themed.
  4. Guess I won't be going there anymore, I could care less about the pool but obviously I am in a small minority. I think if they would have just been able to have a halfway decent coaster like Stricker's Grove, the ride side would have done a lot better.
  5. Most of the people I know are happy about it. When you have a place attended by so many people, there are always going to be those that complain when they do not get what they want every time. That doesn't mean that most people do not like it. There are always going to be those who want nothing but thrill rides and you could give them a new thrill ride 4 years in a row, and if they don't get it the 5th year, they will complain. I think this represents a small percentage though. I love coasters as much as anyone, but I love variety. Amusement parks used to be about variety. I like to see a park have some nice, quality adult non-thrill rides to add some variety to the day. This addition certainly adds to the variety at the park. It is the type of attraction that also, with its landscaping, makes the park more attractive and scenic to look at.
  6. I love this move, although it would be nice to move the stunt coaster and have it back where it belongs. To me, Kings Island (and so many parks these days) lacks nice in the middle rides: Most rides of substance are either thrill rides or kiddie rides. I love coasters, but I love variety. That is why I love going to Kennywood, for the variety. This brings more variety to the day at Kings Island with something people of all ages can enjoy doing together. Now if they could just bring the Enchanted Voyage back
  7. I wish they would just renovate Garfield's Nightmare back to the Old Mill but I am not sure that will ever happen.
  8. Are the Woodstock Gliders going to be an adult size ride or will it only be for kids and parents?
  9. Knoebel's carousel (and organ) as well as the setting is in my opinion the best ever.
  10. I loved the Tumble Bug as a kid. I hate to see that it has nearly become extinct, and if Conneaut Lake doesn't remain open I believe only Kennywood will still have one, and it is called the Turtle not the Tumble Bug. I love riding it at Kennywood, but somehow it doesn't feel exactly the same when it is called The Turtle and not the Tumble Bug. Wait, so the inexplicable rectangular building between the exit path of The Racer and the silly basketball game used to be the queue for the Tumble Bug? Huh. The more you know. Somebody should compile a comprehensive list of all the remnants from past attractions. I'd do it, but I haven't the experience necessary. And so, I've decided that we should give it a shot and see what we can come up with. And hey, since KI is still open for a few weekends, we could even get photos! I'll start the list with every remnant that I know of: 1. Son of Beast's station still stands, and is used for the Wolf Pack maze during Halloween Haunt 2. Crypt's building still stands and is used for the Cavern of Terror maze during Halloween Haunt. Additionally, the Durga sculpture still adorns the wall, and The Bat demon thing still Haunts the antechamber. 3. Until very recently, there were a few footers from King Cobra standing near Adventure Express's queue. I believe those were removed a couple months ago. 4. Flight Commander's queue still stands, and can be seen behind the sports games booths in Coney Mall 5. According to the quoted post, Tumble Bug's queue has been converted into a storage facility for games prizes. No verification on this other than that post, however. 6. Bat's Station and queue are used for Vortex 7. The cars from Thunder Alley can be seen next to the maintenance path near Firehawk. They are very visible from the lift hill. 8. The souvenir photo booth from Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal can be seen as you are walking out the exit from Cavern of Terror. 9. Some chains from a previous coaster (presumably King Cobra) are present in Flight of Fear's building. 10. Don't quote me on this, but I BELIEVE that at least one of the old cars from Flight of Fear (with OTSRs) is being stored inside Flight of Fear's building. Feel free to add to the list, or correct me if I'm wrong. I'll try to keep up with this and edit it as information arises, but I can't make any promises
  11. I've always been fascinated with the Ludlow Lagoon, it looked pretty neat for its day. I have a postcard from the Lagoon I bought off of ebay. If you ever take a look at the Images of America picture book of Ludlow KY there is a whole chapter on the Lagoon with lots of pictures, there is also lots of pictures at the nkyviews website: http://www.nkyviews.com/kenton/kenton_lagoon_1.htm My mother has told me that her mother used to tell her about Chester Park. She used to go there when she was young and said it was a great, fun park. About 6 or 7 years ago there was a book written about the whole history of the Lagoon and Chester Park. Quite interesting, I don't remember the name of it.
  12. This is what happens when you allow attorneys to take over the country. Of course I'm sure these same attorneys wouldn't consider suing Kings Island if they had let him ride and he would've got seriously hurt right?
  13. Well I am glad it happened the way it did. I don't like theming a park around a company. I would like to go back to the days (mostly before my time) when amusement parks only real theme was having a carnival atmosphere.
  14. Hopefully they will fix this 30+ year old ride because there aren't that many quality family rides at Kings Island like the Shake Rattle & Roll. A ride that isn't to wild for kids, but isn't to babyfied for adults. It is also nice to have a relaxing ride, as much as I love big coasters, I like to have some variety.
  15. There was rumors a while back that there could be a high-tech haunted house coming in 2015. I was really hoping for this, but I don't see where this would appeal to thrill seakers. They could make it scarier than the traditional haunted house and that could appeal to teens, but I'm not sure thrill seekers.
