Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
mikejenkins1 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Yeah and the crane seems to be back down and ready to roll away and they did not hang any bars/seats with it. So what is up or what were they doing? Still wonder if they found a problem or flaw they had to weld or fix. -

So why the crane/truck there today? Is something amuck and thus they did not complete installing all chairs? They have not used this crane for installing other seats/bars. So was something wrong on just not there yet that they have been waiting on and now it needs installed? -

It is odd the last seats and bars have not been attached for quite some time. Do you think they are missing parts or something? Wonder why it would not have been complete by now. Only a few to hang or is there something in the core they still need to do -

Watch Delerium carefully when it gets up there. The revs slow down which is why I can ride it as well. Yep agree this looks like a spin and puke at 300 feet. -

Yep, same way with spinners. Zephyr is enough for me. If it wasnt such a spin and puke, I would love to ride it. -

So with those cranes in they must be getting it to lift position and putting the arms/chairs on ? -

Guess it is finish the control house day. The other guys must be crashing due to a late night. So I wonder how much cycle testing time this ride will get. Do they test with water dummies like on coasters? -

So I am guessing that has taken over the WindSeekerCam2? -

Yes I agree. I captured the pic and zoomed in to see it. Was doing it by eye before and the cable and brick sort of looked like breaks in the line and wondered if it was some sort of chain. Yet it made no sense to me. So guess these are the CYA in case the bolts holding you break? -

So what are those chains or such on the ground? -

I was implying that they could put the ride in that location. I know they would have to dig, replace and pour new concrete. I hope that was obvious as they had to do the same for where it is now. Just saying the location is a bit more off the path and thus could have kept the old path to AT in place and such. -

Well never mind... It is pouring and they are all on camera. Guess since no lightning yet they will continue. Nasty weather to work in. -

I dont buy the 'the soil cant hold it' theory. They have had the 3 arm ferris wheel and flight commander there. Just wonder if they consider it not ride worthy spot since the woman died on flight commander. That is my only guess...... -

A question I still have is why did they not use the old filght commander site to put this up? The old 3 wheel ferris wheel was there and it would be a great spot? I know that originally drop zone was going there till they decided to move it and build Action Zone. It would such a nicer out of the path place to put it. Give the same great view and such. Anyone know a good reason? I know they have pay stuff there now but come on.... -

Well they are not following the same path for building at CP. They basically have the red topper done and the tower is only 1/3 done. -

I agree, it looks very nice. Wish they would do a Lost Coney section like Kennywood has with Lost Kennywood and bring back some great family flats. So what do you think they are doing on the tower top today? I was expecting to see the ride arms getting built now. -

Now wondering if Mason Fire has to practice high rescue for this ride. Think there is a manual way to get ride unit down in an emergency case? With DZ, release ride and let drop so no biggie. But what to do here. I mean there have been people stuck on top of DZ ride cylce. Also wonder what wind speeds this can operate in. I know that is why they went with this model, but will they have non operation times for high wind? -

So is the lift/spin mechanism in the core of the shaft or is it controlled from an outside motor? -

A flag is usually put up when they have the top piece in place or complete. -

So did they just pour concrete or is that a sand base they put down for the pavers as the area leading up to WindSeeker?
