  1. Are season passes good at EVERY Paramount park? Also, what is the difference between a "Gold Pass" and a "Gold Pass VIP"? Thanks!
  2. As stated earlier, Citigraph does the maps for both parks, and quite a few others. My homepark, Michigan's Adventure, used to use Citigraph maps until we were purchased by Cedar Fair. Now we use Cedar Fair-done maps, which are not only too cartoonish but also quite unproportionate. The Citigraph maps are very nice and I would take 'em back any day.
  3. Hmm, isn't that what I've been saying all along? It's not unlikely that Cedar Fair could buy the park and/or chain. It's really not that unlikely even though people make it out to be. Ummmmm ok, and you are... It's a message board. Get a life. I'm obviously not as immature as you have been.

  5. wickedv6, you are my idol. Cedar Fair would certainly be a different perspective at the park. The two styles of operation aren't too different, but their differences do show. The former Viacom executives would still be different than the current operation, so no matter how you look at it if the park is sold there's going to be some changes in place.
  6. Yet you still offer no proof that I'm not a year-round Cedar Fair employee. All you have to go on is your idea that "Cedar Fair employees don't post at an unofficial PKI site". That's extremely false. Parks sometimes go to the unofficial park and coaster sites to see what the buzz is in the community, and that's where they get a few of their ideas. So far, you cannot prove that I am wrong, and all I ask is that before drawing any conclusions that Cedar Fair will not purchase one or all of the Paramount chain to wait and see if, first they're selling the parks, and second, purchase deals are struck up.
  7. Cedar Fair, they do a better job at running a park than most other companies.
  8. How do you know I'm not a Cedar Fair employee? Are you positive that I have no direct relation to Cedar Fair? You have no proof that I am or am not a Cedar Fair employee, all I can say is that Cedar Fair is willing to take that risk, mostly because it will pay off in the end. Don't believe me all you want, but last time I checked I was able to air my "opinion" on the forums.
  9. Ryan, yes, they are perfectly capable of purchasing the ENTIRE Paramount chain. Believe it or not, Cedar Fair has more money than you think. That's why they were able to purchase parks such as Michigan's Adventure and Geauga Lake, because they have a- savings account, if you want to call it that- full of money in case a good opportunity arises where they would be put in a situation to buy a park. Not only that, but if they're short there is this thing out there called a loan. Many chains do this when buying a park, they pay as much as they can and take out a loan. As I said, you have to take a risk in order to make money, and this is one risk I personally know that Cedar Fair would be willing to take. And if you're telling me it wouldn't be a smart risk, I'd like you to explain your reasoning because you're sounding like a d*** fool.
  10. (at Ryan): I don't see how you say Cedar Fair can't afford it. They have PLENTY of money to buy a new park, last time I check in upwards of around $500 million. Also remember, that in order to make money you have to risk money, and if they bought any of the Paramount chain the return would be a LOT greater than the risk. Simple business, honestly, you give something up to make an even greater gain. At this point, anything's possible, we don't know what's going to happen and we can't rule out ANY possibilities. Let's wait a while before jumping to any conclusions such as "such-and-such is buying the park" or "such-and-such isn't buying the park" and just see what Viacom does with their asset.
  11. Wow, this is getting quite interesting... Earlier in this thread, I explained how it was very unlikely that Cedar Fair would want to buy King's Island, but now that I look at the evidence that's here, I'm beginning to get a bit suspicious. Back when Six Flags Ohio became Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, a small rumor came out saying that Cedar Fair would be interested in buying the park. The guy that started the rumor was flamed at and was told the whole situation was unlikely. People stated that it was stupid to have two parks in the same state and basically the same reasons you guys are giving here. Of course, we all know what happened with Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, so it won't be repeated here. Now, it looks as though that process is about to happen again. Flame me all you want, but I feel as though the second Paramount Parks are put up on the block, Cedar Fair will come in with a nice offer and buy the parks before anyone else can. The same thing happened with Knott's and Michigan's Adventure, and Cedar Fair acquired both of those within days after they went on the market. (from the other thread) thejoker8388, giving parks capital for new rides because they're big is not how Cedar Fair works. Cedar Fair has an unwritten rule that "what you make is what you get", and therefore if a park makes a lot of money, they'll get a lot of money for new capital. If a park doesn't make much, they don't get much. Owning Cedar Point and Geauga Lake would have very little effect on pushing Cedar Fair to buy the park. As stated, the parks are quite a distance apart (with the exception of Cedar Point <----> Geauga Lake), and if they really wanted to combine the parks they would need something in... I don't know, Columbus? Alright, I think I'm done. Maybe something I'll do today is go through and make a little thing that would have the names changed to Cedar Fair, somewhat like they did with Geauga Lake (some new, some used). That might be fun for a Saturday activity. Best of luck to the Paramount crew in their decision! *~* Reality
  12. ^ nice dream. I have those a lot. I've only been to PKI once in my life last year, but I'd like to see something original. What they're doing with IJ:ST is VERY original, and I like it. I may be a Cedar Fair Season Passholder (boo me all you want, but Michigan's Adventure, Cedar Point, and Geauga Lake are all closer to me than PKI), but I have to say that Cedar Fair hasn't been too original with their new attractions with the exception of Hydra and Silver Bullet this year. What do I mean by something original? It's hard to decide. S&S is doing some great work in both their wooden and steel departments lately, and Vekoma's got some great new concepts (gah, I complemented Vekoma... ). B&M hasn't come up with many new things, and Intamin's really focusing on their rockets. I say stick with S&S for the next big thing...
  13. Alright, I have to ask, where is the Big Adventure trailer?
  14. Speaking of King Cobra, where exactly are the parts being stored. I head "in the trees" in another thread, but where "in the trees" are they?
  15. I happen to be a Cedar Fair fanatic (decals all over my car, stickers, clothes, the works...) that visits PKI. Just because I love Cedar Fair doesn't mean I can't visit PKI.
  16. First of all, Cedar Fair would not buy King's Island. Their goal is not to buy another park and have to "Cedar Fair-ize" it, it's to bring back Geauga Lake and settle the water/sewer dispute in Muskegon. By no means would they purchase another park quite yet, it's just not economically reasonable. Second, a license plate in the parking lot reading CDR FAIR on it could be just about one of the 1000s of coaster enthusiasts around the nation. Finally, the person you saw was probably not Kinzel. He wouldn't be the one to discuss a new ride with the PKI crew, the head of Ride Operations and the General Manager of the park would be talking to the PKI crew, as it's their park and ride they'll be running. There ya go. Three reasons why this topic is just plain nutty.
  17. Is that the TOGO ride that they made the POV for? Those people were screaming in pain! lol What POV? I'd be interested in a POV of Manhatten Express...
  18. Hope this helps Soviet Traitor.
  19. After spending a day driving to Cincinnati, a night in a decent hotel, and almost 1/3 of my trip's budget, I headed on my way to King's Island. One of my favorite parts about going to any park is the skyline as you're driving into the parking lot. Unfortunately King's Island's big rides are all in the Action Zone, proving to be a very boring skyline. ACE card in hand, I walked into the park (nice metal detectors...) and over to the ACE block. 9:15 rolled around, and nobody was there (Guest Relations people I mean). 9:30 and still no one, so I went to Guest Relations and they said 9:45. Finally, Beth from Guest Relations took us eight ACE members back to The Beast, which wasn't awake yet. We waited for a while, and finally it was ready to open. I decided for a middle seat for my first ride, and Beth hopped in next to me for a ride. The Beast is an awesome ride, it jumped to #1 on my wooden list instantly. The terrain really does a great job in making this ride awesome, not to mention that wicked helix! Overall, I had to ride again in the back seat to give it a good judgement, ending up at 9.5/10 Vortex was next, my first Arrow multilooper. It was a lot smoother than people say it is, and offers a great ride all-around. Not to mention the boomerang is awesome. 8/10 A quick trip over to Flight of Fear for some awesome space age theming and storyline (Cedar Point, take notice). This would be my first Premier coaster, so I didn't know what to expect. The launch is great, but after Top Thrill Dragster no launch is much of a thrill. The rest of the ride is amazing, and the block brakes mid-ride provide a good look at the ride. 8.5/10 Opting for a ride on The Racer, I took the shorter line and went forwards. It's a great classic woodie that I think should run with three-bench PTC's. 6/10 Adventure Express was a cool little ride, and it is a lot more thrilling than some good-sized woodies out there. A bit more theming would be nice though. 7/10 I took a quick break for lunch, then headed back into the park for a ride on Face/Off, my first Vekoma coaster. It sure is a different ride than I thought it would be, but the roughness brings its rating down. 7/10 I thought about riding Son of Beast next, but unfortunately he was having a temper tantrum, so I opted for the 30-minute wait of Top Gun. I didn't think the ride would be all-to thrilling, and oh-boy was I wrong. The second drop itself is one of the best drops on any coaster I've ever ridden. It swings into my book with an 8/10 With Son of Beast still closed, and the time already going on 2:00, I headed to The Beastie for my junior credit for the day. I won't even rank it since it's not only a clone of a coaster I've ridden around 100 times, but also because it's a junior coaster. Scooby Doo and Ghoster Coaster were busy, so I headed over to the flume (Reptar's line was huge). Pretty good, but I hear and now think that the Keelboat Canal was better, as it was rougher than any coaster I've ever ridden. 3/10 The people in my group were ready to go, but there was no way I was leaving without a ride on Son of Beast. Sure enough, it was running, so I got inline (which ended up being in the station) and opted for a front-seat ride. I had heard things all day about it being rough (lets not forget the "I want to ride Sonofa*****"), but I didn't care. Overall, it's a great ride, but not the kind I enjoy. 7.5/10 My group was restless, so we got in the car and left, only to get pumped for Day 2, Geauga Lake. PART TWO is coming next Sunday, as I'm leaving in a few hours for the week.
  20. Trust me, I was a PKI virgin until just recently, and now I absolutely can't wait till my next trip. And this site is the best place to go to get the info before your trip. By the way, best place to eat at the park: Bubba Gump
  21. What's the one they have now? (I must have completely missed it on my trip)
  22. So when I was at King's Island for my trip, I rode Beast with Beth from Guest Relations, and she said the park was looking at various forms of the Fast Pass/Freeway systems that might be implemented next year. Does this count as a rumor?
  23. Well, just wear your PKIC shirts tomorrow and I'll say hi if I can!
  24. 7. Magnets of the park's logo, and how much do they cost? 8. Nightly laser/fireworks show? 9. Average waits for the coasters? 10. Any non-coaster "do not miss" rides?
  25. Ok guys, I need a quick answer to some of my questions here, as I'm going to be at the park for my first time tomorrow. Here's what I'd like to know: 1. How much does a shirt cost? 2a. Does the park sell patches? 2b. If yes, how much do they cost? 3. What other enthusiast-liking souvenirs are there and how much do they cost? 4. Are there on-ride photos on any rides and how much do they cost? 5. Is it possible to ride every ride and slide (including most kiddie rides) in two days? 6. Any information about the ACE walkback is a great help. Thanks guys, I'll check back around 6:00 EST and see if there's any answers.
