Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
AintNutinElse2Do replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
What if the shed was used for a Mad House type element. Where the train enters the shed doors close behind you and the track rocks back and forth along with the room around it. Would be a pretty neat effect. However being at the end of the ride that's a lot of anticipation building at the end of the ride. Hmm where else does that happen... -

Not a bad addition, and sure to be fun even if I'm a bit underwhelmed. Looking at the shed renderings though on the Kings Island website if they are at all accurate I don't see where they could put a drop track. What else could it be in there though? And how will it effect capacity on a coaster with no mid-course? Also please fire whomever is behind the name. -

There's a great coaster in Indiana that exits the woods to turn on the lake and back into the woods. It has very little effect on the ride though. Glad for every other portion of it though. -

I like the way you think but I am not sure that RMC would build that tall???Wildfire is 187 feet. What's 3 more feet?Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk I just didn't know.....I wasn't saying they won't......Hell a 200ft RMC would be intense! Well Lightning Rod is technically 206' tall (something they don't really advertise for some reason) and it's pretty intense. Not really ever open but intense. -

^ Breakers Express is getting an addition don't think they announced how much that will cost though. Could be a good chunk of the money though. -

It's not railroad ties. Railroad ties are soaked in creosote or something similar and look black. Those appear to be standard treated lumber. I present a contrary ad. http://m.lowes.com/pd/Pressure-Treated-Railroad-Tie-Actual-5-5-in-x-5-5-in-x-6-ft/50449508 -

^Railroad ties are commonly used in landscaping for retaining walls. So you'd be right either way. -

So you'd rather have a Chevroletdown? Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk Find me a cool acronym for Chevrolet and I'll let you win. But like a rock I think you'll be stuck in the mud.Edit: As quick as a Lightning Rod I realized I missed my opportunity to use Fixed Or Repaired Daily. -

Not sure I've seen this possibility mentioned. Blue Ox as in Babe the Blue Ox. Paul Bunyan's sidekick. http://americanfolklore.net/folklore/2010/07/babe_the_blue_ox.html -

GREAT CATCH! That kind of confirms that it will in fact roll, dip, fly, and dive over WWC.Wait, why are we thinking this is a Ford truck? I'm only remembering the one pic at the moment but looked like a 64 Chevy to me. Besides we don't want to be Found On Rivertown Dead. See this pic as examples. From... http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/blog/index.php/category/featured-trucks/1960sfeaturedtrucks/ The heartbeat of the forest. -

Lightning Rod is butter smooth kinda like how Thunderhead once was. Still love them both though. I will say the slight give of the wood in the topper track is what keeps me from classifying it as steel. That classification only matters to the manufacturer, the buyer, and those in marketing departments though. -
Dollywood 2016

Thankfully the warmish days out number the cold ones around here. I know it happens but since the inception of Smoky Mountain Christmas I've yet to have a visit where the coasters were closed due to cold weather. Granted I've always been less than 40 minutes away and I pay attention to what's going on outside. My point was that just because the ride isn't running optimally now or even a few weeks from now doesn't mean they should give up on the ride for the remaining 5+ months of the season. -

^Might be the height of the summer season but don't underestimate the draw of Smoky Mountain Christmas, and to a lesser extent the Gospel & Harvest Celebration. I waited well over an hour just for food last December. -

I agree, the exploration of how to talk about the ride should be happening and sooner rather than later. The ride not opening for the remainder of the 2016 season is highly likely. Especially if they don't get the kinks worked out before the 10 pm closes end. Keep in mind Dollywood's season last until January 1st 2017. So there's still plenty of time in this season to make adjustments even as frustrating as it is. Plus Christmas time is a great time for night rides with 9pm closings. -

^Would be nice for the latter. That's one thing I love about how RMC constructs their coasters. Generally no cat-walks beyond the lifts/launch and the ability to have a more "open" experience with the surroundings. -
I wouldn't mind seeing a Mammoth of a water coaster to replace the log flume in the future. Especially if they found a way to give it a dual entrance from both wet/dry parks.

Were you referencing RMC and GG?Sent from my XT1526 using Tapatalk Soooo close, GCI were also implied. Might as well throw them all in the mix to confuse everybody. Yes there's others but couldn't think of a long enough sentence to imply more INTense speculation. -

Don should just tease... it's sure to be a great coaster in a rocky mountain like terrain where you and your group will be thrilled by gravity. -
Which all just means it's more important to go this year than ever. Tell your friends and bring as many as you can. Donate to the center, etc. Seems most pride events have seen an increase this year due to the hateful events in Florida so hopefully it continues the trend in September. I'll gladly wait in longer lines to keep this event going on.
