  1. There are two coaster types I'd love to see at KI, but I've pretty much reconciled myself to thought that we will likely never get either one: 1. I know they are dated, but I want another stand-up coaster. 2. A wing coaster. I know I should keep dreaming, considering CP has Gatekeeper.
  2. I'm getting a strong sense of deja vu. It's like June 24th all over again.
  3. Name it "Mutation". Just when you thought Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal was dead, it has actually turned into a whole different kind of ride - a roller coaster.
  4. They could be saying it will be a different experience as an allusion to how the new coaster will interact with it (assuming part of the new coaster layout will cross over/under the train tracks). They are throwing out the hints for sure. Lots of people thinking a return of Winterfest. I don't know about that with the unpredictable Winter weather in Ohio. I'm hoping it's the Christmas In July announcement of something big. Winter weather in Ohio has ALWAYS been "unpredictable", even back when they had Winterfest in the 80s.
  5. Huh. I never knew such a thing existed. http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-293112602/stock-photo-withered-concrete.html - secondson...always the smart alec. I remember it fondly. *sigh*
  6. The inversions on Banshee are pretty amazing, but that's also my disappointment with it, because it's basically just an inversion machine without some sweeping curves in between.
  7. Personally, I think the wood that was delivered is going to be used for new picnic tables. What is a "coinenedece"? (I don't even think I can pronounce that. )
  8. There is a small portion of the plans that are labeled work area. The rest could be faked to throw enthusiasts off. Rumors were those weren't the real plans to start with if I remember correctly. With all due respect, this has to be about the silliest, most inane thing I've read here this week. Parks comply with the law. They don't do silly things that would not be legal to mess with "enthusiasts." Even when teasing a new attraction, so called "enthusiasts" are not a major factor. Attitudes like that expressed above are why so many in the industry find enthusiasts a bother that must be dealt with, not an asset. I find this whole discussion silly just like the park they are about, but to each there own. Sorry, but I have to ask why you're bothering to post here if you think the park is silly? Please DO NOT feed the trolls Ugh, I goofed. Yes, I do recall that is a wise policy. I hang my head in shame.

  10. If that were the case, I don't think there would have been axes sent to the local news, nor would there have been a coaster layout on the plans filed with the city of Mason. Never mind. I misunderstood your post.
  11. Is that a pile of chipped wood the arrow's pointing to? Maybe they're telling us the name will be Shredder.
  12. I would guess it depends on where it's being built, and for what purpose. There are a lot of retaining walls which are built using steel I-beams. Oh, I don't know if I'd call them "SOB's". Just spoiled. HA!! They do have a number of coaster types that we'll likely never see at KI...Intamin, floorless, wing coaster, dive coaster. Sometimes I think KI gets tossed a bone to appease us. BUT...having said that, maybe this new coaster will make them a bit jealous, too.
  13. Finally! Someone else to join me on #TeamPile.... Welcome. Aww...I was with you in spirit. When I first saw the steel beams, I immediately thought they were for site work (retaining wall, etc) - not ride construction. I just wasn't saying anything.
  14. ^ No, Intamin makes Aquatrax. Poseidon is a Mack ride, and actually spashes down into the water. I don't think Aquatrax does that.
  15. Just something I'm throwing out there. We really don't see much detail in those plans, other than an overhead layout, coordinates for some footers, and some detailed schematics for supports. But Poseidon and Skatteøen are both coasters. The difference is they float to the lifthill and splash down into water like a log flume at the end of the ride. The bulk of the ride consists of steel track like a regular coaster.
  16. Out of sheer curiosity, since this new ride will be in Rivertown, is there any remote possibility it could be a new water coaster/flume hybrid, similar to Poseidon or Skatteøen, only longer?
  17. ^ Yeah, I just saw that. They showed the front page of Kings Island Central in part of the promo for the upcoming story.
  18. Man, you guys have posted a lot these past few days. I'm just now logging in to catch up. Unit, prune it - stock, schlock. Did you have a good weekend, Terp? Thanks for the link. I'm sorry I hassled you. I just get a bit testy. Comes with old age. But they use the word sto...oh, never mind. He's entitled to be once in a while.
  19. I was pretty much aware of that, but thanks for the link. Sigh. Cedar Fair is NOT a private company. It's not a company AT ALL. It's a partnership. With a limited entity and a master entity. NO ONE owns ANY stock in Cedar Fair. There is NO SUCH THING. And it really doesn't matter what incorrect thing someone found by Googling. "And it really doesn't matter what incorrect thing someone found by Googling." If this was Twitter, I'd say that was a grand example of a subtweet, terp. (Google "subtweet" if you need to know what it means.) And just for the record, the FAQs at the Cedar Fair page you linked to include the question: "Did Cedar Fair have a stock split?" Get that...a STOCK split. They used the word "STOCK". The answer to the question? Perhaps you'd like to look it up to see for yourself. And I suppose all the sites listed in the search results of these various search engines are just somehow incorrect. Astonishing. https://www.google.com/search?q=Cedar+Fair+stock&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 https://www.bing.com/search?q=Cedar+Fair+stock&pc=MOZI&form=MOZSBR https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=Cedar+Fair+stock&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001 Interesting article from less than a year ago: http://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/15/09/5843878/the-regional-theme-park-stock-janney-analysts-are-buying And here's an article which mentions the word "company" several times: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cedar-fair-loss-widens-missing-expectations-2016-02-17 But you say it's not a company "AT ALL". Alrighty then. Have a good weekend, Terp.
  20. I don't know. Everything I'm reading online when I do a Google search is talking about CF stock, not units. It's listed on the NYSE. The company is referred to as "publicly traded". But truly, I'm not interested in debating about stuff I really don't know much about. All I know is what I read.
  21. But then why is it listed on the NYSE? Doesn't that mean anyone in the public can buy shares of its stock? Eesh, I truly am ignorant when it comes to stuff like this. haha. Anyway, all of that aside, back to decoding...of which I've done little.
  22. What part of this am I misunderstanding, terp? http://ir.cedarfair.com/company-overview/default.aspx And what is this?... http://ir.cedarfair.com/stock-information/unit-information/default.aspx I'm not a stockbroker, so apparently someone needs to explain it to me. I mean, is it just a difference in the words "company" and "partnership"? If so, forgive my indiscretion. It must be a technicality that is throwing me off.
  23. Of course I was exaggerating. I was trying to make a point about how unreasonable some people can be in their desires and expectations. My apologies...I wasn't trying to infer you or anyone else was incapable of running an amusement park. I just meant the management and CF corporate execs know better about how to run KI than we do. I was merely feeding off your comment about paying part of Don's salary. Oh, calm down. Let me give you a bit of advice....never make a dramatic exit. It doesn't move anyone, and you always end up coming back anyway. I'm speaking from experience. I hope I've matured some since those days. You left out basketballs. Don, I demand you no longer give away basketballs. I missed the jerk part. Don't worry the heat will be off you now that I went and demanded something. Bring it on! darn...the basketballs. I forgot about the basketballs. (Don gives away basketballs??) People pay into their own social security. As I see it, just because a company offers a product or service, and the public buys it, that does not give the public a right to demand said company to provide them with information about any upcoming new products or services. Maybe they do. After all, Cedar Fair is a publicly traded company. Absolutely. Great post! I was going to say something similar. There are many times when others cannot "hear" the inflections in our voices while they're reading a message we've written. And yes, #3 is very true. We should get this back to decoding.
