That's probably because we've run the gamut of ideas trying to figure out what the layout would be like, how many drops it would have, speed, height, yada yada yada. So basically, we aren't surprised because we pretty much already had it figured out. If we hadn't speculated so openly for so long, I'm sure we'd be surprised and experiencing more of a sense of awe.

Maybe. But they could have simply put the time of the press conference on the home page instead of the timer. I'm sure something will be revealed. I can't imagine otherwise. And if not, then I wouldn't think it was very funny of them to do that.

Last Day to Purchase KIC Day Tickets is TODAY!

You need to know how to make a malt the proper way. I used to work at UDF, and by far the best way to enjoy a malt is to use 1 squirt of vanilla syrup in the cup (yes, even if it's a chocolate malt or peanut butter malt) and add a little milk with the malt powder - and it MUST be extra malt powder - then mix it up first. THEN add the ice cream....and you have to specifically ask for ice cream (trust me on this one), along with the flavoring you want. If you want a chocolate malt, tell them to use chocolate syrup instead of chocolate milk. And then it absolutely MUST be mixed at low speed. Now, what were we talking about.... Oh yeah, haircuts. Or something like that. -

Where is the "smack yourself on the forehead" smiley when you need it? -
Ahh. I was expecting to see a laser beam shooting out of the remote. I'm such a dork! Tried it again, and it does work. Interesting.
-
Just tried it. Didn't work. Maybe I have the wrong kind of remote...? The problem isn't my camera, because it does have an LCD screen. You're not being a loser. I've had my oversensitive moments in here, too.

No doubt there will be people there that do record it - I guess. I don't know what the policy is, but I imagine the press will be recording it to show on the news.

Angrybeaver beat me to it. Yes, it's a hint. I'm sure no offense was intended. It's nice of you to point out what you thought was a new sign, but pretty much everyone here knows about all the teaser signs already. They're the basis for a huge discussion taking place regarding the name and elements of the coming coaster.
-
Ohhhhhhhhh. Well that makes sense. Thanks! I was starting to think it was going to have a drop into the final curve before the station.
-
You'd think so, given the amount of energy we've put into trying to figure it out, huh?
-
That's kinda what threw me off at first, too - and why I started thinking after the splash down it was going to curve around up toward the Eiffel Tower direction. But I imagine that's how high the track will be at the station. After all, the blueprints show steps leading up to the loading platform.
-
Never mind. I was misplacing the location of Vortex.
-
If I'm looking at those pictures correctly, there's an extra section to the layout that isn't shown in the overhead plans we saw in the Dayton Daily News. It looks like after the splashdown the coaster is going to curve up toward that section of ground near the walkway leading to the Eiffel Tower. Are there support foundations in that area?

My mom nearly passed out on the one at Lesourdsville Lake. She doesn't take well to rides that spin while going up and down. She'd NEVER make it on Delirium.
-
KI never should have removed Wheel of Fortune. That was one of my favorite rides. Nice to see CI has the Trabant.

Believe it or not, Disney World. Of course, it was 1978 - first and only time I've ever been. So I don't know if the same system is still in place or not, but you had to buy certain kinds of ticket packages that only allowed you access to certain attractions/rides. The rides were lame, it wasn't a magical experience and my dad got sick so we had to leave early. Since then, I've actually had no interest in returning. Perhaps it's different now....in fact, I'm sure it probably is. But it's still not on the top of my list of things I "must" do before I die.

MYSTERY NO MORE--KI BUILDING HYPERCOASTER
secondson replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Ghost Rider Yeah, I know there's already a coaster named "Ghost Rider", but there are how many named "Goliath"? Plus, if you Google "Maverick Ghost Rider", you'll see there was a movie by that name that took place in the western frontier. Maybe the part of the sign that says "The park strikes back" is a reference to how our new coaster will "strike back" at CPs Maverick...? -
Your missing a fact here, the park does not put on these events. The park is rented out to this organization the same way it is rented out to P&G. OHHHH. I gotcha. I thought this was something the park was sponsoring. Hey, I don't hate gays. Just letting people know that. So whoever it was that said they didn't like what I was implying...well, you really don't know me, so please don't assume something about me.
-
I won't go so far as to be "hateful" or anything, but... Is there an African American pride night? What about a Jewish pride night? How about a Christian pride night? Is the park REALLY available for those kinds of group events?
-
You gulp them like crazy? LOL! J/K. I think cicadas are cool. I love playing with them - picking them up by their wings and letting them walk up my arm or the front of my shirt. Of course having them fly into your mouth isn't good. But hey - people get too worked up over the little guys. I say enjoy them while they last!

An inline twist is like a barrel roll - the train inverts a full 360 degrees in a straight line as it travels along the course of the track. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I appreciate it. King's Island will always hold a special place with me, and I think Firehawk will truly make a great addition.

What does PKI need to take the next step as a theme park?
secondson replied to GADVFREAK99's topic in Rumors
If I had a dollar for everytime I've seen that phrase on a this site... We heard that about 02, then 03, 04, 05(IJST, then everyone was disappointed), and 06. Now in 07, we are getting a major coaster, but it seems to not count just because it isn't a *new* ride. Firehawk is going to be a GREAT addition to bring the thrillseekers back to the park. To everyone else who visits Kings Island, Firehawk is a MAJOR thrill ride, and that will draw people in the gates just as much as a B&M Invert will. The general population isn't going to care that this ride isn't brand new, 200ft tall, have 9 loops, or go 80mph. No matter what KI installs, some people just never will be happy. I couldn't agree more. The vast majority of people who visit the parks aren't the coaster fanatics that we are, so they will truly appreciate Firehawk as a wonderful new addition to the park. Heck, even I consider it a great new addition to the park, and think this will really balance out the fun factor quite well. Personally, I don't care if KI ever gets a steel hyper, or giga-whatever that soars hundreds of feet in the air at 90+ MPH and has 10 inversions. If anything, I'd prefer to see another wooden coaster with a truly unique layout, and it doesn't even have to be as high as SOB. But that's beside the point. The truth is, KI already has a great coaster lineup, as well as a lot of other great rides, that make for a really fun time at the park. There is even enough there to warrant a 2-day visit. KI has a world-class kids area, a huge assortment of mid-range rides and a lot of fun family coasters, as well as breathtaking major coasters and extreme rides. What I would really like to see KI work on building is a section of the park that recreates a village setting which focuses on old-world fun and good times, kinda like a renaissance-themed section that incorporates all the same great features that you will find at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. Great crafters, who truly make their crafts as you watch, wonderful skits and shows, homestyle food, hecklers that taunt you as you walk from shop to shop. Things like that. Throw in a unique dark ride, and it would be a really cool addition to the park. -
I see. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I appreciate the response.

Hi everyone. I've observed this site off and on for a while, and decided to join. This is my first post, and I have a quick question. Hopefully it's not a STUPID question, and if it has already been addressed somewhere, please ferry me off to the appropriate discussion. Thanks. My question: In the promo videos I've seen, they show Firehawk going through a double corkscrew near the end of the ride. However, I thought this used to be X-Flight at GL, and X-Flight had a double inline twist (or barrel roll, whichever it is technically called) - not a corkscrew. So are they changing that element of the ride? Thanks!
