Sorry, guys. I didn't realize what I was doing.

And...? I don't think it matters who built what. We can't say an invert is outdated simply because they've been around for 20 years. Using that logic, we should have said Diamondback was outdated when we got it, because at that time the hyper coaster had already been around for 20 years, too. Remember....Magnum was built in 1989. It took 20 years for KI to get a hyper. So maybe now KI is catching up by getting an invert - yes, 20 years after the first one was built. There's no point in them monitoring the boards at this point, because the plan for the coaster has already been finalized. Nothing we say in here will affect what's being built. I agree. If Kings Island had built whatever the enthusiasts wanted over the years, we would have had an invert, floorless, and giga years ago.
-
I'd just as soon not see a cobra roll. We already have that on Invertigo. I'd rather them leave it out and go with inversions in this order: loop, Immelmann, zero-g, overbanked curve, loop, zero-g, overbanked curve, interlocking corkscrews (or batwing), and then back to station. Something like that, with the requisite dives through tunnels and other curves mixed in.
-
An invert. 2ndS - who just had to be the little brat and say it.
-
So would a giga.
-
But who's to say whether Flight Deck will be removed at some point in the future? We've heard several times now that Kings Island is building for its future, so maybe building an invert is part of a plan to replace FD in the future in order to make room for another attraction/coaster in that space. It could maybe get replaced by a giga, or floorless at that time....maybe even another wood coaster.
-
I had to go back and edit my last post. After seeing what you've done with these photos, I'm now totally convinced it will be an invert. Good work!
-
Not saying the coaster is a mile long...because we just don't know...but I tend to agree, if it's a B&M, wouldn't we be seeing track starting to lie around outside CSF by now? Are you seriously asking that question? Think for a moment.....what other campground, anywhere in the world, is built upon roller coaster support footers?

No offense, but I don't see much of anything in this video which pertains to the construction site, other than the signs on the fence. That's why I said, from the ground, BB1 who didn't say he was going to take you "behind the scenes in this whimsical video that this guy took of the new ride that we all must call Banshee!" no I said it was just a ground video of the fence and the old SOB area. Now please, if you have an issue with that, keep calm, and carry on. I'm perfectly calm. You're the one getting upset because I made a comment about your video. You specifically wrote "Nice video of the construction site from the ground." Look at your post again. You did NOT say anything at all about taking a video of the old SOB area. IF you had said that, I would have avoided making a comment. But you led us to believe this was ground video of the actual construction site....which it's not, other than the fence. That, my friend is (d)inf(v)erred BB1 who will be here for a long time, and tries to show a good video here and there, possibly a good joke as well. In all honesty, a construction site was visible when at the Flight Deck I believe, and a vehical was shown at the beginning, with that being said, there is more, like oh, a fence. Which in all honesty is a part of the site. I do not wish to bicker and fight, I just wish to post in an emerging topic a few insightful posts that will carry on the topic, with a few giggles, no wails here. BB1, who likes riddles and jokes I'm not bickering with you either, friend. I'm just being nit-picky. Ever watch the Brady Bunch episode in which Greg was held to his exact words...? They can be pretty hard to live by. Anyway, it's all good. No harm, no foul. Or no announcement at all...? Maybe it will be obvious long before the end of the summer...except for the name, I suppose.

Probably not something you'll want to put on your playlist, but the one song I will always and forever associate with Kings Island is "Sabre Dance", by Aram Khachaturian.

I may have to seriously eat the words of my previous posts if we're getting what I think we're getting. Don keeps mentioning the park is "building for the future". Starting to think we're getting a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter - maybe similar to Saw: The Ride at Thorpe Park, or perhaps as large or larger, and as steep or steeper, as Takabisha. It's a futuristic-type coaster, and we've been hearing the words "divertical" and "diversion". A Euro-Fighter contains a vertical lift which leads to a dive toward the ground. AND....many of the footers for the supports on Takabisha (a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter) contain only 4 bolts, which is what we're seeing on some footers in the construction zone. Maybe that doesn't mean anything. But maybe it does. Just tossing it out there as an idea. As for it not being announced on a day during the Summer, that could just be a clever way of saying it will be announced in the Fall....most likely when Haunt 2013 starts. Since the old SOB station is supposed to be used for a future Haunt attraction, it just stands to reason that's when the new ride will be announced. If it really is going to be named "Banshee" (which I still hope not), that's a creepy evil theme...and since Saw: The Ride has a creepy theme complete with spooky effects, this new coaster will probably be similarly themed and thus fit right in with a Halloween-timed announcement.

This is a little off-topic, but does anyone know if CSF keeps standard sections of B&M track in stock on their property? Or is each section of track custom made?

SO KI has never been on the cutting edge? Someone help me here, but Racer (started coaster revolution) Beast (record breaker) Bat (prototype) Vortex (first coaster with 6 inversions) King Cobra (Prototype) FoF (Prototype) TRTR (First Giant top spin?) Those are just the first of their kind cutting edge type rides... It may have been the wrong term to use, but I meant "world-class cutting edge" as in the following: Floorless, with Immelmann/dive loop, or Zero-G roll or inclined loop Full-circuit invert, with multiple inversions including Zero-G or Immelmann/dive loop Stand-up coaster, with any of the above mentioned inversions Wing coaster/4D coaster, with multiple inversions Giga coaster Those are 5 coasters which you will not find at KI. However, with the exception of Valleyfair, you will find at least ONE of those coasters at any other prominent CF park - and some CF parks have more than one of them. It has simply been my dream to get one of them (well, not the Giga coaster....I couldn't care less about those things). But the way it seems, with all the talk of wanting to build "family attractions", we probably won't see any of them built. Unless someone can tell me for certain that we will be getting something off that list, I refuse to believe this new coaster will be anything other than ordinary and lackluster. Why bring a high-thrill coaster to a park they so obviously want to keep as a "family focused" place? Whatever. I'm kinda losing interest, and I know KI would never take my opinion into consideration anyway, since I'm just one opinion in a sea of people who want to tell me how wrong I am.
-
Ugh. I'm done trying to figure out this mess. Something in my gut tells me my long-held dreams about KI are going to remain just that...dreams. I think KI has seen the last of its significant steel coasters to be built for a number of years to come. I no longer think the current project is going to be what I was hoping it would be. After hearing more about Ouimet's thoughts for the chain, as well as reading some comments here, I'm convinced the direction of the park is to keep things tame and low key. KI is not a thrill park. It's a family park. Since each park in the chain is supposed to be a separate brand, to me that means the people who want thrills will be expected to go to CP. But we can't all make that trip, so we miss out on these world-class cutting edge coasters, because they usually always go to Ohio's "thrill park" first...CP. I'm amazed KI even built Diamondback to begin with, though that was before Ouimet took over. But it still took KI 20 years after Magnum was built to get a steel hyper. So the message I'm receiving loud and clear is that they want to keep KI a family-focused park, which means no more thrilling coasters. They tossed us a bone with Firehawk, and finally caved in and built Diamondback. But I honestly don't expect there to be anything more beyond that. This new construction is probably for a family coaster. Terp told us to look at Italian Job, so how else do you analyze that? Sorry for the cynicism. Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I am. My gut's just telling me I'm going to be totally disappointed later this summer. Oh well. It's not about me. I'll let you guys get back to your discussion. I'll check in later this summer to see what this "brilliant" move turns out to be.

Looks like those videos were made by some people who have overactive imaginations.

What's wrong with evil and creepy? What's right with evil and creepy? True, but to some folks, The Beast is the Devil.....666 and all that. If I remember correctly, there were boards with catch phrases on The Beast queue line loading platform such as " all is for The Beast" that disappeared a couple of seasons later. Can anyone remember any of the other catch phrases? True, and I was going to mention that, but I didn't feel it was necessary to make my point - which was that a beast is not always something that can be thought of as necessarily evil. It can often simply refer to a wild animal...which is the intended meaning for The Beast. The name of the coaster was never meant to refer to the antichrist.
-
Personally, I'm really hoping they don't name the new coaster Banshee. I just think it's too evil and creepy. "The Beast", while not exactly conjuring up dreams of sugar plum fairies, is nevertheless somewhat neutral. A beast can be something huge, or a wild animal, but I've never really thought of it as something particularly "freaky" or "evil".

Terp...the nickname given to "The Interpreter" is a deeply complex, mysterious entity roaming around on these boards. He usually speaks in parables and gives profoundly obvious, yet veiled, analysis of all things pertaining to Kings Island and...well, all amusement parks, really. When he gives a hint about a new project, you most likely will not be able to discern what he's talking about...yet, if you knew what it was, it would be very obvious to you. Anyway, he's a fun guy. Mention anything "Bugs Bunny", and you'll get his ear. Does he work for the park? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. I really don't know. But knowing him (in the very limited way I do on these boards), you simply never know. He could, but would be very good at hiding that fact. Does he know what the new coaster is? Who said it will be a new coaster? But generally speaking, you simply don't know. He probably doesn't KNOW for absolute certain, but he's very good at figuring things out....and how he does that is a huge mystery.
-
Floorless....which was one of the two coasters I was hoping for. I interpreted Terp's "night rows" hint as "Nitro" and, upon looking at B&M's latest coasters, I noticed there's a floorless being built in India named "Nitro". I recall back in 2008 when he was giving hints about Diamondback, and I simply couldn't figure out what it was going to be. But there were some people who managed to figure it out. Others asked for hints, and someone said they'd been dropping hints the entire thread. It still went way over my head. I felt dumb. It's okay...it's not Terp's fault. He's good at what he does, and I admire that. I pride myself on understanding symbolism, so it just makes me feel inferior to think I'm so stupid I can't decipher a riddle. ha ha. OH....P.S. Thanks to the ones who pointed out the videos of Matt Ouimet.
-
Hasn't been my experience, especially in the night rows. Um... what? don't worry. He got me on this one too a few years ago.... Wonder how many other things he's said like that this year alone. Things that both were and were not like diversions. Sometimes if one cannot speak in riddles, parables, analogies, hints, and diversions, one is not allowed to say anything at all. For many reasons. One can be an asset, a know it all, banished, or fed in this life. Its all in relationships. It truly STARTS with who you know, later becomes what you know, and later still who knows you. Terp, who a few people know. This post may be one of the most important I've ever made. Ponder. Consider. Soon, it will be next year. Where will you be? I'm not sure of my answer. And I'd not have it any other way. Confront life with energy. Terp, as I said before in a different thread, I do have a lot more respect for you now. But still, when you talk in parables or riddles, it makes a lot of us feel inferior....and then we end up making fools of ourselves as a result, such as what I did above when I said I think I figured out what we're getting based on your "night rows" comment. Then Beast1979 said it probably isn't relevant, and now I just don't know. It's not fun anymore to keep playing the guessing game. I'm just too naive - or stupid, or whatever - to decipher the hints and riddles. Sorry - I'm in a mood today, and I really mean no offense. But this thread is getting frustrating, so maybe I'll just go back to being a lurker for a while until we actually start seeing more revealing construction taking place. In the meantime, can anyone answer my question in my last post? Are there any links to articles, interviews, videos, etc...in which Matt Ouimet discusses his thoughts about KI and the future direction it may take? Thanks.
-
The more I think about this whole project, the more I think I seriously need to wake up. It's KI, for Pete's sake. Out of idle curiosity, does anyone have a list of links to articles or videos in which Ouimet has commented about Kings Island in any way? I'd be interested in reading/hearing his thoughts. I know he's not going to give specifics about next year's project, but that's not an issue for me. I really don't care anymore. I just want to hear what he thinks about the park in general, and any particular direction he sees the park needs to move in. Thanks!

I got it. I just haven't said anything. And it was a very revealing hint this time. I think I know what we're getting...or at least, to me, the list of possibilities has been greatly narrowed down. But lest I'm over-interpreting terp, I'll remain ever-so-humbly reserved, keep my musings to myself, and be thought a fool rather than open my mouth and remove all doubt. Because it could just be a diversion, and I'd hate for the rug to be pulled out from under me. BTW - all this talk about the MCBRs...let's not forget that Diamondback has some pretty fun hills, a helix, and spashdown after the MCBR. You would think someone with nearly 40000 post would be able to be more descriptive. You would think someone who has read through all these comments so far would have gotten a hint, taken some advice, and learned to post a bit more constructively by now.
