Where is everyone who keeps saying this getting this information. Please show me the facts and figures. I don't know exactly how much SOB costs, but I think someone estimated it over 2M. Common sense tells you that a wrecking ball is cheap. Hell I even bet if they left it just standing, someone would offer to come tear it down and use it for whatever they want. Not to mention you save money on maintnance, employees, etc. Common sense, how can shutting it down cost more than it did to open? CRAZY thoughts ... please put some facts or argument behind this statement

NEWS: CF add restriction to children under 4 feet to wear lifevest
JjAmSaOnN replied to JjAmSaOnN's topic in Kings Island
It was an accident, though unfortunate. I don't think anyone is completely at fault. I think the parents as well as CF and the lifeguard all have a responsibility. Responsibility is completely different than at fault. Accidents happen, you can't necessarily go blaming everyone and holding everyone accountable. Could the parents have done a better job watching there child? YES .. could the lifeguard paid better attention? YES ... could CF have stricter policies regarding lifepreservers on children? YES ... but that does not mean it is completely anyone's fault. All of those involved have a responsibility. I don't think anyone necessarily did anything wrong ... who knows maybe the child ran off from the parents or maybe the lifeguard really couldn't see the child at the time. Accidents happen. CF has taken a step to improve their responsiblity. -
Well there is the Ohio Turnpike - I - 80/90 that is a Toll Road. Runs E/W Toledo to Cleveland. Depending where you are coming from.

^Brown I totally I agree. Well said. Almost time for the wrecking ball

Rudy Giuliani To Attend Freedom Concert At King's Island
JjAmSaOnN replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island
In that case, I agree. Dems are in! In fact, I know I will not be attending this concert now. I don't agree with politicians soliciting themselves at an event that was not already advertised as them doing so. I would hate to have bought a ticket to see a decent concert and then be subjected later to listen to their propoganda without prior choice. Even though I do enjoy listening to both signs and have no problem with it, I would just rather it be known that was part of the event prior to attending. -
Rudy Giuliani To Attend Freedom Concert At King's Island

Uh Oh I see this topic turning into a political debate. I am not even going to go there (I believe that is against the TOS anyway) -
^hauntguy A heavily themed dark ride? This would be similar to FOF in my opinion. First of all, this is not CF style rides, though I was impressed with them theming Maverick compared to almost no theming on most of their rides. I love Mummy, that would be great, but I just dont see it as practical for CF and KI right now. I think it would be better to retheme FOF some. I think they have gotten past Racer, there is some room by AE. I don't think they are completely blocked, but limited yes I agree. There are ways to do it I'm sure, would be nice to see them utilize space more like CP I agree though, but I don't think they will move or remove any coaster to do so that would be a loss

call Guest Relations (800) 288-0808. That is the best way to answer these types of questions.

Family Sueing Six Flags

maybe the cable did wrap around her legs on the way up, and from a distance may have seemed to amputate her ankles then, but in reality were amputated after the drop with the cable still wrapped around her ankles. Awful story. I would hope SF does do a presettlement. I would suspect they will considering they know they are ultimately liable in direct relation to her accident. -
They were there a few weeks ago I know for sure. I wish the ride op would still use the water spray clouds more like they used to. Especially the one they used to shoot like a hose "flood" and didn't shoot the air through it like the others. That used to really get a 1 or 2 drenched in the boat and usually the one that was turned away. Funny to watch

I agree, perhaps. But also consider we don't know exactly what has closed it down yet. There may just be something additional that could not have been forseen prior to opening. However, you may be right, considering they opened on July 4th - way too much of a coincidence - more like a target date, eh?

^ its a huge maintenance expense, also the naming rights. Cedar Fair would need to spend some money retheming and continue spending ongoing high maintenance costs on the ride. Not to mention, most of the theming doesn't even work. The ride is becoming less attractive. So rather than invest all of this money into it, a better option might be to sell it. Keep in mind also, this ride was put in by paramount, not the former KI. It is more of a themed ride than a roller coaster. Not really Cedar Fair's style in my opinion. Cedar Fair prefers good quality rides that they maintain and plan to keep for a long time. Also, IJ was supposed to have the "sliding" car effect. This would have made the ride much more attractive and unique. As it stands, with almost all the theming not working, its pretty pathetic in my opinion and ridership levels prove it. I do agree its a good family coaster especially for young ones, really Cedar Fair has to look at it from a profitability standpoint. Normally I hate to see KI take out rides to put in others. I was totally against IJ over Flyers and Antique Cars. I gurantee if Cedar Fair had owned the park then, those rides would still be there. Those are 2 very good examples of Cedar Fair style rides - low maintnance, good ride for all, and maintained for a long time to stay. I am only saying this might be an option for Cedar Point.

I will refer eveyone to MrPKI's post last month. He has a good idea for rivertown over the lake. If you took out IJ there would be even more room. Personally I think IJ should be removed. The post is in this thread http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9685

definitely Star Trek - the cost savings is the naming rights. At least with KI they can rename and retheme most rides easily.

according to welche it was working partially yesterday http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...view=getnewpost

I vote for taking out all the theming and remove the building. Make it outdoor over a body of water like another park. And reprogram it, make it longer and more creative wild movements. Just leave the cement block it is on and that should work fine.

Family Sueing Six Flags
JjAmSaOnN replied to Cortney's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ Brown that is exactly correct. Just because they put it in writing like that does not mean they can still be neglegent. Really the only reason they put this on is for things like, you get sick on the ride or you injure your back, or anything of normal riding circumstances. There are probably at least 50 people a day that get bruised or cut, minor of course, but because of lawsuits today, they have to state this or people would think they can sue left and right. This is not a frivolous lawsuit by any means. The girl has every right to compensation and Six Flags is certainly liable even if it was an accident. Even if it passes inspection, it doesn't excuse an accident to this degree. You can site poor inspection, but even if they did everything humanly possible in inspection, accidents can still happen. That is the risk Six Flags takes by operating any ride, and that is why they have to have insurance. -
still having problems today Dane. I will be looking at a thread for example, click next page link. Then I get that error. I refresh the homepage and it is usually a day or two old. This happens all the time actually to me now that I think about it, just not as frequent as it has been since yesterday and it is also the first time I have seen the offline board message about maintenance. I typically use Mozilla, but it does the same thing in IE. Or it doesn't keep my logon token and I have to keep relogging in. After a few minutes (up to a couple hours yesterday) I am able to refresh and shortly after it goes through same cycle. I am behind a firewall at work, that may have something to do with it, but it is odd that this is the only site I seem to have a problem with like this. Any other ideas? seems I may be the only one I don't see anyone else complaining. BTW ... I met you with Tod, David, James, our first trip to ride Maverick and you drove my car home

Off and On all morning since 8am. for an hour or two at a time. I know at least 5 attempts I tried. In between those attempts it seemed to be fine for awhile. Any forumn links produced a board message that said we are still performing maintnance (or something to that effect). I don't save cookies either so that should not be the problem.
