Is CF still offering the after five discount admission? I couldn't find any reference on the park's site. I didn't get a season pass this year but am thinking about going to Nights of Fire (or whatever they call it this year) on the Fourth of July. If they still do the discount, I may just go for the evening and the fireworks.

Do the manufacturer's recommendations change from year to year on the same ride, though? Two years ago I rode IJST without a problem but at the beginning of the 2007 season I could not ride with the same restraints even though I had not gained any weight nor changed body shape. And by halfway through the season, again without any weight change, I was once again allowed to ride. While I did not blame the ride operator, it was frustrating to wait in line and then have to get off of the ride in front of everyone for what seemed to be an arbitrary policy change. And if it was a change from Paramount's standards to CF's, why was I able to ride mid-season without any changes on my part?

What was the first roller coaster youve ridden?
Mighty Mouse replied to Phantom Theater's topic in KI Polls
My first coaster was the Bavarian Beetle at Kings Island. I was about 8 and almost came out of the seat. Scared me so much that it took 5 years before I got on another coaster. But once I started riding them again, I rode every one in the park! -
It has nothing to do with being lazy. It has to do with getting older and having sore joints but not quite to the point of qualifying for a disability placard. I would rather spend my time (and money!) in the park and have a ride to my car, than leave earlier because I am too tired and sore to walk anymore.

Not having the trams doesn't change how much I enjoy the park, but I always parked by the tram stop so that when I left and was all worn out and footsore, I knew that I had a ride right back to my car. It was just nice to not have to walk.

You needed an option for "some, but not all" of the names. I like some of them such as The Crypt, but Drop Tower? Come on

Kings Island: We have a Drop Tower!

Be careful what you say! That winking emoticon represents sarcasm, remember? So in that case.... Why did someone have to teach him that? Now it's showing up in every post!

Now what is freaky about a cat dressed up as Boy George and singing "Karma Chameleon"?

Should KI host a New Year's Eve Party and charge admission?
Mighty Mouse replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
For goodness sakes, people! This is the time of year for imagination No one is saying that it could be done. Just what would YOU do if you could host a party at KI? You did the same thing to the question of keeping the park open 24 hours. It's never going to happen but "what if"?! Use your imagination -
How do you rate the food service at Kings Island?
Mighty Mouse replied to Young Gunz's topic in KI Polls
There is one by the Dayton Mall that opened last year and one in Kettering. I still love the wattamelon roll. -
One of the other threads mentioned KI donating money to defeat a tax bill and being concerned about retaliation with an admission tax. Could KI be trying to get on the community's good side so that any attempt at an admission tax is defeated? Or maybe they just want a little cheap advertising during the winter when people are buying season passes as Christmas gifts.

I wouldn't mind some new blacktop so it doesn't feel like a roller coaster going up and down through the potholes that are growing in the parking lot, though

Well that is unfortunately how the real world works. Some employers may give incentives for going above and beyond the call of duty, while others expect you to do your job to the best of your ability because that is what you are paid for. Sometimes just a simple "Thank you" is all you need.

The time that I spent riding rides and walking and talking with my son before he turned into a teenager and didn't want to be seen with me.

So, because he doesn't like people jumping out at him, he's a baby? Now if he is very fearful during a normal day of life, he might actually have some issues worth talking to a doctor about. If it's just the Halloween atmosphere with things hiding around corners, give the kid a break. My son doesn't like having things jump out at him either and he's 14. I would never consider forcing him to go to HH. That would just be cruel. And what does it teach this kid about his parents? That his feelings don't mean a darn thing to them. What a lesson to learn. Making him go so that he "gets over" his fear is like throwing someone in the deep end of the pool and telling them to swim (only without the chance of drowning). It really won't accomplish much except to make him more fearful and distrusting.

I like TG but I have trouble walking long distances most days. Because of the distance and the steps, I don't ride it near as often as I would if it were closer.

What Grade Do You Give Cedar Fair for Kings Island's 2007 Season?
Mighty Mouse replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I gave them a C also. It's about what I expected for their first full year running the park. Some of the theming needed upkeep or removal. The food definately needed improvement as did the attitude of some of the food workers. I think that they will earn an A or B in years to come given the time and money they'll need to spend but there just had not been enough time of ownership to give us a WOW! yet. I think they can get there, though. -
I was really only joking around about Tower Johnny. My guess is that it had to do with insurance reasons. It probably was more cost effective to just weld the barriers closed than to install preventitive measures so dumb a$$es could not climb over the fence. Could it have to do with the same type of liability reasons that they had to erect fences across all overpasses? Were too many people dropping things off of the 50 foot level? Maybe it was too expensive to fence in that entire level. Years back, I got hit with a coin someone dropped off of the lower level and it hurt like heck. It was easy to aim for someone from that height and you could still see the results which you couldn't from the top of the tower.

Has as much to do with Halloween as it would to Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc. About as much as Christmas has to do with Halloween. But that section on Coney Maul was my favorite part of the display last year. I had to go by twice before I realized what I was looking at.

I can't say that I would have a problem with some demon dogs tearing up a skeleton with Vick's jersey on it, though. I would find THAT funny.

How many of the people responsible for the decorations of HH were employed with the park when Black Sunday happened? It's more likely that someone said "Hey, we have a boat to use as a prop. Now we need a body of water. Look, a pond." Unless they were personally connected to the incident or park fanatics like us, most people will not even remember what happened twenty years ago. If they put the display up intentionally to mock the accident, then, yes, that would be in bad taste. I don't think that was the case, though. I think it was just a good spot to put a boat with some more skeleton theming.

"Or after a hotel for that matter? What did they do, just decide to name their daughter after their favorite hotel? I think I'm going to name my kid Orlando Howard Johnson...which actually doesn't sound too bad..." You do realize that her family owns the hotel chain and used their family name for the business, right?

We've seen Funhouse. He thought it was creepy. I don't think I can talk him into Elvira. It wasn't a big deal. Just wanted to give him a forewarning since Spongebob is usually the first thing we ride.
-
OK, thanks. Shoot. My kid really likes the Spongebob one.
