  1. Try getting stuck on Splash Mountain like me just before the lift to the final drop. The reason it took such a long time was due to the many animatronics in that scene and the park obviosuly concerned about damage to them while benig led to safety. One at a time, walking gingerly between the props until we were ushered out backstage and back around to the front.
  2. I wonder if the video playing in the que line will be the work of Ryan, ala Diamondback?
  3. Or just reaching out for some free labor. A dozen Ts and free lunch are a lot less costly then paying a full time employee.
  4. It's most likely not asphalt, since all the midwest asphalt plants don't reopen for the season until March. There is 'cold-mix' aspahlt available now, but it is not as stable or long-lasting as traditional hot mix asphalt. If KI is going to repave some areas of the park, it will likely do so next month once the plants reopen.
  5. The system is designed to be changed on the fly while in the park. If you have a FP+ for Splash and the wait is only 15 min, you can change it to something like say BTMN if its wait is longer (and it usually is). Just fire up the app and make the switch. Changes can be made anytime up until you press your MagicBand against the sensor. Also note that a good portion of the attractions all over the resort have good throughput, so getting a FP+ really isnt necessary. A vacation at WDW really doesnt have to be complicated. Best advice--if you can, go during off times, use the FP+ where needed and cycle through the rest of the parks at your leisure.
  6. Can't forget that "Frozen's" runaway hit status had a lot to do with that as well. $500M domestic and international and counting...
  7. If that doesn't work, try calling their Corporate HQ in Sandusky and ask to speak to someone in Marketing.
  8. In this era of state of the art technology, it still beguiles me that KI enforces a 'no rivets" policy on swimsuits!
  9. I received my lanyard and badge yesterday (I felt like Ralphie opening his package containing the secret decoder ring!) as well as a welcome letter, so I thank the guys at CC for getting this to me in such a short amount of time. Hopefully everyone else on here has had a similar experience.
  10. For those interested, tripadvisor's reviews on said hotel below: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34352-d88087-Reviews-Seralago_Hotel_and_Suites-Kissimmee_Florida.html
  11. And I certainly wouldnt want to be the park rep testifying in a lawsuit that my rides broke, causing injury or even death because non OEM parts were used to save a few bucks.
  12. How anyone could hear any music in Invertigo's station is beyond me. Did Vekoma/KI not do any sound decibel testing before installing the ride? I feel for those working this ride--if it were me, I'd be wearing suitable ear protection daily.
  13. My idea for a compromise for MK would be the establishment of SRL for the mountains much like for Test Track, or Rock n Roller Coaster.
  14. With the current discounts, the benefit of staying in a moderate is greater than a value. Keep in mind, though, that suites are limited at all other resorts besides the new Art of Animation should you choose to bunk up together. Also, research whether you'd get the most out of your free dining plan. There are websites dedicated to answrring that plus other WDW questions. Another option would be to check into a DVC resort. Those aren't strictly limited to the DVC holders. That way you could get more people in one unit.
  15. I'm all about strength in numbers. While attending Media Day is a nice perk of joining CC, my main reason for joining was to take advantage of more meetups offered by the club. My favorite days at KI were always KIC days, so I'm certain the event(s) offered by CC this summer will be great as well. Plus, having a membership might entice me to finally make the trip up north to Sandusky! Besides my AMC Stubs membership, this is the best value I've ever paid for a membership . I look forward to meeting many more of you this summer (and on April 17 as well!)
  16. Keep in mind that the system isn't all about rides--something we enthusiasts get caught up in all too often. If I'm with my kids at their present ages, the big rides aren't for them anyway. While my daughter wants to meet the princesses, my son is more interested in meeting Mickey or Goofy. That to me, is more valuable to reserve ahead of time than a ride. If done right, most of the rides at the parks can be done in one day anyway, with or without FP+. The parades/fireworks/shows are important as well. Who here hasn't been standing on MSUSA 3-4 deep with little ones on their shoulders craning for a decent view of the parade? The system will adjust to the needs and park feedback, so I say give it time to work out all the kinks. Perhaps the feature I will miss most was the little-known ability to use your paper FP ticket at any point past the end of the return window. I used to love going to the big rides hours after the end of the window and not having the CM bat an eye. Not eveyone likes change. Some here were outraged that KI drained a certain lake in order to build a giant coaster a few years back. That turned out nicely enough.
  17. How many KIC members have joined CC since the partnership announcement?
  18. At some point in the future, or not, Disney could decide to halt the existence of the Marvel characters at IOA.
  19. They are, but oftentimes, people will seek patent protection as well. Patents give the user the exclusive enjoyment of their work for a set number of years (14 plus a renewal of another 14 years) before falling into the public domain. It is often used in prescription drugs where a drug will be found to have more than one use, therefore making it eligible for another patent (example--Cialis--which is used to treet erectile dysfunction but has recently been found to help w migraine headaches as well). In Banshee's case, time will tell what the park has in mind.
  20. Not necessarily. Often times, the mantra, "buld it and they will come" is the way things work in politics. Indy built the Hoosier Dome bascically on spec not knowing if they'd land a tenant.
  21. It means that the mark is also eligible for patent protection as well. The notice gives the applicant 90 days to pay any fees associated with the patent.
  22. Or in all likelihood, a wheel where for $2 you can spin for a chance to win 2 front of the line passes to Banshee.
  23. And to elaborate on what Don said, part of legally enforcing your trademarks is using them in the correct context. It's not just about stopping businesses from improperly displaying your trademarks. If you don't enforce the usage, there is a risk they can fall into the public domain. Some of the older members may recall what happened to Xerox back when copying became commonplace. The company was at serious risk of losing its trademarks so it undertook an aggressive campaign to prevent that. As the saying goes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
  24. I was there during the more tolerable SpectroMagic days, which I wish Disney would bring back even if most of the floats are no longer useable in their current state. IMO, the MSEP has run its course (again). In this magic night...
  25. I can respect the fact that the ride was a record breaking piece of technology in 1979 and that it helped build and shape the park into what it is today. However, that doesn't mean I have to think it's a good ride. I can list several other roller coasters from the 1970s I'd rather ride - Colossus, Loch Ness Monster, Racer, Thunder Road, even Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Beast is giant stretch after giant stretch of boring track. Its setting is nice, sure, but that doesn't save it from being a mediocre ride. Yes, BTMR has its roots in the 70s, but with its recent revamp, it no longer sports anything from the 70s save for the maybe the mountain itself. The track is all new, as is the ride system and que line. It e-stopped quite a bit before its revamp, due to the very narrow blocks featured on the ride.
