  1. Done deal, just ordered via PayPal. As far as the food goes, like standbyme said, Im there for the closed-park viewing/photo-ops, and the DB tour so Im totally open to whatever. I will likely grab something while on the drive down from Indy as it is.
  2. I know a good number of people disliked it, but I personally truly enjoyed Villain. I only had one problem ever with Villain, and it was that she hurt my kidneys once with a pretty hard jolt on the trick-track transition (say that 3 times quickly). I just wish I had the opportunity to give her another chance... I REALLY wish it would have been cost-effective way to relocate it to WOF. Sorry, but in MHO Prowler looks really weak-sauce. I will agree that BD, although not the biggest, fastest, tallest etc etc should ABSOLUTELY be saved due to its rich history and family-friendliness. Seriously, how would people here feel if The Beast was facing the same fate that BD is? Irregardless, back to the topic at hand, I am very glad the Carousel is being renovated and moved and I have heard WOF brought up many many times as its likely destination.
  3. Hades was my given declaration of coaster.... which by the description under the name on the photo is quite fitting I might add.
  4. Good deal, this is one I am going to attend... I have always been wanting to get photos of the park in an otherwise impossible serene setting. On top of that, from being in the Construction Industry I am very interested in touring the Diamondback site.
  5. All Charle Brown has is a bunch of rocks!!
  6. Yep, I was the one that voted 50s. Granted, it got below that on the night of Oct 4th while we were there, but for my first Beast night ride I didnt care a bit. The only time I will voluntarily step foot in a park when its below 50 is POSSIBLY for the Third Coming simply for winter photo ops. I was there on Opening Day this year and as soon as it started raining semi-steadily and the temps started to drop hard, I was gone.... I think I left about 530-ish.
  7. Nope, the fuel costs have absolutely nothing to do at this point with my decision not to renew our passes... and even if they went back up to $4+ a gallon, it wouldnt make much of a diff on the Hyabusa I will have by next year opening day.
  8. In reply to the distance.... from just west of the Indianapolis International Airport, it is 125 miles to the Western Row Rd exit by following the most direct route (I465S to I74E to I275E to I275N to I71N to WR Rd).
  9. Well, total number of visits to KI was 6.... total number of visits where we stayed more than 20 minutes was 4. We made the foolish mistake of going on Kneivil day and some other stupidly busy day (might have been Spirit Song I am not certain). The best visit BY FAR was Wednsday, August 20th... perfect type of day for me. Our only other park venture was WOF on the 18th and 19th of June, which was awesome to me becasue this was MAMBA's 10th Anniversary and I always considered WOF my "home park" since it was the closest decent park to Des Moines, Iowa.
  10. My favorite memory from 08 is by FAR my first night ride on Beast. I rode it once at 7:50 and it was still just light enough to see clearly, so I got back in line just as they opened all the rows in the upper queue. I got on train 3, last car, next to last row at 8:22pm, October 4th, and as I looked up the first lift and the upper half was engulfed in fog I just thought to myself, "Oh Hell Yeah!". Cool, damp air, total darkness, and fog made it an absolutely unforgettable ride that will have no equal. As i got off, i thought briefly about another ride, but after seeing the rode-ops getting ready to open all rows in the LOWER queue, and enough people standing in line outside the entrance to fill those rows, I said "fuhgetaboutit" and made my way through the wall of artificial fog to FoF to complete the night and our season.
  11. Funny thing is, I never stepped foot on CP property, or that of any other CF parks with the exception of KI this year, and WOF once. We wanted to go to KD to ride Dominator again, but we got too busy with other things. As I said, change in discretionary spending is not the only reason for not buying Passes next year... I am NOT one who deals well with wall to wall crowds or 2 plus hour wait times for rides. I could not get out of the park fast enough on Kinevel day, or as I fondly referred to it.. Sturgis Southeast. As far as DB is concerned... I agree that it will be a fantastic ride, and I will Man up and wait in the line for it once a visit... but what I like about it most is that it will (hopefully) reduce wait times for Beast .
  12. I wont answer the "would you rather" question due to a personal bias on the subject.... but thank you for the viable answer. I can understand the dollars and cents of the relocation. Incidentaly, the one "would I rather" subject I will broach is "I would rather have celebrated the 120th Anniversary this year than watched the park get leveled" but I digress.
  13. WOW... nice to see this topic here, thank you. I have a LOT of pics I was, and now will, post to the Random Photo topic of some GL coasters (including the one of X-Flight that you just posted giga, right on!!) I was just rather hesitant. On a side note.... can anyone here who may be associated with the industry and the logistics of such a move come up with a valid explaination as to why Villain, a hybrid taken from us at just 7 years of age, was not relocated to WOF as opposed to building Prowler? Sorry but to me Prowler looks REALLY WEAK and Villain would have been a perfect fit in the same area.
  14. HAHA so true Gator... kinda makes me think of Wile E. Coyote and his ACME Rocket Skates!!
  15. You are indeed correct Interpreter, my Wife and I got home from our final KI visit last Saturday night, and both Platinum Passes went file 13... and I am one of the group that will not be dropping $150 bones apiece to purchace any more. Its not ENTIRELY due to the cutback on discretionary spending in our case.... but that is a part of it.
  16. Going rate here in and around the western suburbs of Indy is $2.89
  17. Yeah, ive beeen watching the weather all week, as I plan on being there tomorrow as well. It looks like high of 72, low of 50... so you will most definitely want a sweatshirt by nightfall, especially at 60+ downhill on The Beast night rides (WOO HOO!!!!!) Im basically using HH to my advantage in the resepct that the park is open till 1am... thats my main motivation... though I will probably go through Urgent Scare and Club Blood just for the experience. Otherwise Im going to be riding as much as I posssibly can on our last visit of the season.
  18. OK... wow, thats all I can say is wow.... I was truly hoping my statement about Park Employee or industry insider would have made it clearly obvious I was looking for reliable answers based on true fact.... like the ones Gordon graciously gave in the first reply. Please, would a Mod lock this?
  19. OK, for those of you who are employess of the park, or industry insiders who may know this information, I came up with three questions about 2 rides while at the park yesterday. First of all, while in the rear car of the red Racer train, I noticed 2 seatbelt receptacles attached to the back of the car in front of me. What purpose do those serve? the only thing I could come up with was that they are extra parts... but then I wondered why they would be kept there as opposed to under the operators control console for instance. My second question has to do with The Beast's lift hill chain on the first lift. Is there any particular reason it goes incredibly slow, then picks up speed for 6 feet, then slows down again before the release at the top other than the "impending doom" factor? My third question has to do with the trims. Would The Beast feasibly run safely and be able to handle the stresses of operating without the trims on the first drop and the next subsequent drop? I found myself saying to myself "Man Id Love to ride this without those two trims!!" every single time I got on yesterday. Now I know in today's World of every Business owner in America being terrified by and cowering to Insurance companies and Law Firms it will never happen.... but as I said my question is simply could it run safely?
  20. Yep, I was there also from 10:30am until about 6:00pm and I must concur that yesterday was GREAT as far as not having crowds to deal with. From 10:38am until 12:10pm I rode FOF, Firehawk, Vortex, and Beast all one time before getting some lunch.... and this time frame also included walking up to a closed BLSC to inquire about an opening time, a 12 MINUTE LOAD/UNLOAD TIME on Firehawk, a leisurely stroll around the Rivertown side on my way to Guest Relations, and a walk back to Chick-Filet. From that point on, until 6pm when I left, I rode Flight Deck once, Racer 3 more times, FOF 3 more times, BLSC twice, Vortex 3 more times, Scrambler once, and Beast 3 more times. Kawana, as far as Sunday goes.... good luck Brother on decent wait times on a Sunday.
  21. Yep, 30 minutes, MAYBE 45 absolute max for me nowadays. We went Sunday, I took one lap around the park, discovered the lines for FOF, Firehawk, Vortex, Beast, and BLSC ranged anywhere from 1 hour to 1:45.... and we let. Im going tomorrow so I can actually ride the rides I like more than once in the entire day. that is the number 2 reason I wont renew my passes next year. Ive discovered that my time is too important to me to justify 2 to 3 hours for a 3 minute ride.
  22. Im betting he is referring to the space needle or whatever its called that was "purchaced" at the GL auction for $12,500 and then "re-sold" on E-Bay for 50 large.
  23. Do Gold or Platinum Pass holders have to pay an upcharge to stay for HH? I know it was briefly discussed previously, but I do not recall ever seeing a definitive answer to the question.
