Last time I was at a KI Q&A session they talked about making The Beast better. They talked about moving the track out as far as they could in the helix to make it smoother. They would have liked to go bigger but they don't have the budget to do so. They talked of a different type of wood they used to replace the tracks with as well. There was talk of different types of wheels they was testing but that was long ago. Some of the experiments was done on the son and we seen now how that went. The brakes was upgraded in a year after the trains bumped into each other in the station in the rain. That same year Kennywood had about the same kind of accident and upgraded all their wood coaster brakes. I recall that the lifts ran full speed before the new brakes. It either takes longer to get the first train over the second lift or the second train is getting out of the station faster. They may be putting the trains where it's the safest as it would be best not to have a loaded train or two in the station when one is coming into it. I haven't been there for many years so I don't know how they are running it now.

Every preview night I went to was mess. Things like closing because of weather without a cloud in the sky or half the rides not running. After many years of it we accept that this is a normal preview night.

Fight inside Carowinds Halloween Haunt
Captain Picard replied to RollerNut's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I don't think they have a lack of security. They may have a problem with who they hire for security or what they tell them to do. My experience with their security was never pleasant. -

How much more than Six Flags did to improve that park would it have taken to make it work?
-
Probably PKI Guide at around that time. I think I remember the Terp was a member there.

On the forums 15 years ago I never seen one complaint about Mr. Kinzel that I can remember.

I think if you want it so bad you would go to a park that has something like Winterfest. I remember a KIC day where a large group of KIC members walked in the cold through snow from the Great Wolf lodge to KI. That was enough winter at KI to last me a lifetime.

I learned over the years that you go on nights with 2:00 am close and pay the price. They cut the staff back on 12:00 am nights and it's just not as good. I have never been to HHN without the Express Pass and will never go without one. I also learned that the price can be too low like Phantom Fright Nights. You can go to Phantom Fright Nights and stand in line all night for one attraction for only 28 dollars.

Like Terp I have had problems with entry. I also seem to have a run in with park security with every visit. This happened two times in the same day at coaster stock while doing what I was told to do and where to go. These are the things I will always remember about my visits to Carowinds.

Do Not Give Out Free Things
Captain Picard replied to TTD-120-420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This happens a lot at some parks, you just don't see it publicized. The way I understand, they are taking the parking money and it goes in pocket, shoes or special place. Then they give free parking so they are not off at the end of the day. I know of one case of this in Orlando of a guy taking over 30k that they knew about. -
Busch Gardens Williamsburg Cuts
Captain Picard replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Going public just let you see what you couldn't before. I remember posting years ago about how back when Busch still owned it they wasn't happy with the parks. I recall I was responding to post about Busch buying Paramount Parks. I said Busch would be selling the ones they had before buying more. From what I was told there is only one or two parks in the chain that makes money. -

I read rumors about Zumanjaro Drop of Doom on screamscape a long time ago. -

What is Vekoma using for footings? I haven't found any good pictures of Vekoma footings. I think this is a B&M for the record.
-
You left one out. Those who want you to think they know, can not tell or they will look like a fool.
-
Everything I thought this was going to be has changed.
-
Them new footings they started are some of the biggest I think I have seen. It's getting more interesting now.
-
-
I wouldn't put as much into the shape of the footing as I would the bolt pattern. That bolt pattern is close to the same as the ones in the new construction in what looks like the base of the lift.

If I read correctly they can keep the permit from the public if they have a good reason.
