I intend to pay in nickels at several locations throughout the park this year, Can't imagine the look on their faces at Larosa's when i give them $35 in nickels!

^seconded. The 360 degree topspin thingy looks badass, the other looks awesome too, but Delirium kinda competes with that.

But after pulling a coup like that on CF, i'd say the only way SF would agree to build Kingda Ka is through a very strict agreement with Intamin, correct? They had to get a nice discount since all of the design/engineering work was done. I figured exclusivity contracts, especially for one of a kind or world record breaking rides, were the industry standard. Wow, what a bonehead move.

I am like really behind, I know that, but please do enlighten me on why TTD was such a mistake. I haven't got to ride it yet but I thought it was very popular.

Ferris wheel is an obvious necessity Skyride is also sorely needed ( nice way to relax while still enjoying the park), it could be really long! Does anyone remember those hovercraft/bumber car things the had at Americana? those were fierce. What about reworking the Go-Karts into a decent length road course and actually making it a fun attraction? Wow never realized how much I missed Americana, might as well throw in an old west shootout during the train ride!

Does "modern theming" really affect a ride that much? (Mythbusters haha)

I haven't ridden The Crypt this year and its not at the top of my must ride list due mostly to what I've read about the non-existent themeing (theming?) IMO how much work is it really to make the thing look and feel crypt-like, I mean its already indoors. What are the odds of getting it out of that garage re-themeing and making the thing a part of Rivtown? TR:TR is the only topspin i've ridden but it seems that being outside would add extra sensory response and ultimately a more exciting ride. Theming is a big part of the ride experience for me. I'll onlyride BLSC at night and only if the effects are operational, this after I rode in during the daylight...once... and felt like I had ridden a coaster on par with The Serpeant. -

"Kids are only kids for so long, so by the time they get tired of all those little rides KI has invested in they will have already moved onto bigger and better things." I'm pretty sure there will be no shortage of kids in the future. There seems to be little vacancy in the nursery at the hospital. -

"They also guzzeled gas like real cars. ~16 cars running 9:30am-10:30pm every day= lots of $$$" I cant see the costs of running the antique cars outweighing the cost of running other rides, just paying for gasoline instead of electric for direct drives, chain lifts or linear induction motors. "It's like choosing between keeping a car that gets 15 miles to the gallon that is already paid off or buying a newer car that gets 30 miles to the gallon. Yea you have to pay the price tag for the new car, but in the end (especially with these gas prices) you're spending half as much on gas. Believe me that definately adds up." It would take you about 7 years on average to save as much on gas as your "new" car costs, in other words in 7 years you will start saving money on gas given the fact that your "new" car is still in service in 7 years! "My point is I hope Kings Island doesn't start ripping out even more classic rides like the Train or Viking Ship just because they aren't super new and reeking of modernness." The train is not going anywhere. However I have never seen kids have this reaction "Yet, I see kids' faces light up, they start jumping behind the fences, and are overwhelmed with excitement when it arrives in station. ... The kids seem much more excited to ride it than a "current" ride with all the theming but overall dry." ... for the viking fury. A quick paint job and change the name to "Son of Delirium" and you are in business. -

The water appears to be confined to the concrete splash pool they have built. The Splash area sits in the lowest part of Swan Lake, filling it back up would flood the splash pool. That being said, I have no clue why they would make that splash pool so small, shoulda been three times the size they made it. -
I've just recently started taking advantage of the free ice water. The kids love having their own drink wenever they want one, and dad loves not spending a 20 every time we pass a food stand!

I just feel its a way to increase revenue from a certain segment of the GP. Being a family of 6, we eat lunch at the car, maybe get the kids a $1.99 Icee refill each, when we are thirsty we get ice water from the foodstands. I don't need a goldfish, and theres not even room in my garage for one of those ridiculously huge stuffed animals, yet given the *chance* to win stuff to enhance future visits I would drop some extra dough for that in a heartbeat, shoot my wife probably would too. Sounds fun when you are lounging at BB, not buying a $12 locker!

You would take it with you throughout your stay, not just when queued up deep. The idea of a contest/game(s) with REAL prizes appeals to me more than a $5 shot at an enormous stuffed gorilla. Could be cash, gift cards for their overpriced food, gift cards for their overpriced merchandise, A free Icee Mix Up would be worth $5.39 for petes sake. Their are plenty of things the could offer at virtually zero cost to the park, i.e. Bring a friend free, Buy one admission get one free, etc. Shoot A preferred parking upgrade would be fine with me. The idea is similar to the basketball game near BLSC which is offering an iPod to the high scorer for the season.

I've said for a long time that parks could increase revenue by offering some sort of device to occupy GP while in long queue's, or when making their way through the park. Maybe something interactive like a trivia game against other people in the park. With the advent of Wi-Fi There are a number of models that would be viable. Maybe a $10 dollar rental with $5 of that going to a prize pool of some sort. You would just have to swipe your credit card (or season pass for that matter) for deposit purposes. Could be worth a few nickels to 'em!

Go on a weekday and ride whatever u want. If u get there early Always hit the rides that queue up heavy first (Invertigo, Delirium, DT). Head to X-Base. If u need a break from the heat hit FoF first, then FH. Now on your way to RT check out Vortex and decide on the fly, continue past BSLC, and decide on the fly there too. Now for Beast, Then Crypt (if line warrants) Backtrack through Coney and hit whatever u missed including a couple trips on racer. Maybe a stop at Viking Ship as you make your way to AZ. Again depending on the heat and SoB's queue maybe hit FD first for a nice walk on to cool off. SoB (only because u never know how much longer it will be around) Always try to mix in a night ride on beast. BLSC is also decent for a night ride. As always throughout the day, gauge the crowds/lines and try to mix in a couple flat rides! I know it sounds like a ot of backtracking but for a normal volume day it seems to work out nice. I'd rather walk to a shorter queue than enjoy my neighbors on a mid-July afternoon!

Thanks for the insight. I am making my first trip to CP this summer and i'm interested to see how it stacks up. I Believe KI is a great value and I hope CF DOESN'T change a thing in regards to KI's pricing structure!!
-
How does BB, in its current state, compare with Soak City or any other water parks CF controls that are priced seperately from their dry parks? I'm not sure they can pull off a seperate entry fee to BB without some high profile additions. Even then they would have to start low and work the entry fee upward to top scale over a period of time. Ten years doesn't seem unreasonable to go from "free" to say $29 (today's dollars) like Soak City. I personally think the best move at KI/BB is no move. Incorporating SC's fee into a CP admission and bumping that general admission to everyone entering CP's gates would seem to bolster the bottom line. I just think that a standard operating procedure across all of CF's properties would streamline the business somewhat, and I would have to guess that the pricing structure will be changing soon at either KI or CP (hopefully CP) in regards to entry into their respective waterparks.
-
First Post!! So here goes. What are the odds that CF will make BB a seperate park and/ or charging addl. entry like at Soak City? I would personally hate to see this but IMO this seems to be a natural path CF would take. If for no other reason than having the parks operate similarly. I've never been to SS at CP and I do not know how BB compares, but maybe with a few high profile additions (a water coaster, A huge zero entry beachfront pool etc.) I could see it happening. Am I off base?
