I always thought it looked silly there and was an eyesore to be honest, so if it goes I could careless.

Couldn't you just call him Lucius Cincinnatus, after all he was Roman. Wow I can not believe I actually just used something I learned in World Cultures.

Wow Mt Olympus/Hades makes me want a wooden coaster with a barrel roll; I would imagine that would be a long piece of track. On a serious note though, I think how it is set up now is fine; any faster and you would feel out of control. I Love the ride as is, so no changes.

I was also standing in line for Firehawk yesterday when I saw a streak of red go by on SOB. I was so happy to see it running again. I can't wait to ride!

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
beastbreakdown replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So the cable from one snapped and then whipped around and severed the feet of a rider on a different section of the ride..? If that is so, then even if the cable would snap on DZ it would be above riders, but still I would not want a cable to snap when I was riding that... I never even thought of that today when I rode DZ. My prayers go out to the family and girl, God bless. -
I really don't think its a great idea to use trains from another coaster. If the park wants people to ride it, why cut corners and get ****ty cars that will once again provide a horrible ride experience. Maybe it was just the track of the ride that the cars used to run on, but if its not, then my guess is it will be even more painful traveling at greater speeds and harder Gs. But, until I ride SoB with the new trains I will not judge.

Hah.. Oh my... I am for sure renewing my pass next year to Kings Island. -
My friend and I arrived at the park around 9:15, doing so we finally got our gold passes processed. This only took about 5 minutes; I was surprised at the lack of paper work, usually they make you fill out a boat load! Well, after that we made are way into the park where we waited patiently until 10 o'clock for the rope to drop. I found myself participating in "the running of the bulls" back to Firehawk. I must say that is some what impressive, but at the same time I did not like the fact that everyone (including myself) was blowing off park employees who were shouting "do not run!" My friend and I managed to be about 20th in line waiting for Firehawk to open. There was a small mechanical problem, and Firehawk opened around 11AM. My friend and I rode in the front car of the yellow train (I think we were the 2nd train of the day). Wow! was that one hell of ride, something I have never experienced before; thus, making it my new favorite coaster at KI. After our amazing flight, we made our way to Skyline... 11 dollars for 1 cheese coney and chili cheese fries . The forward racer was our next destination after our brief lunch break. We sat in the back and wow was that painful, I have never experienced that much ouchies from that ride. Once my back found its shape again, we made our way to Vortex. Nice ride, only waited about 5 minutes for it. Making our way down the path, we found ourselves strapped into a white Mini Cooper. To be honest, I'm not impressed with IJST, its just a big blah. Anyways, we both felt a bit light headed, so after getting a nice little cup of ice water, we made our way to the train. This was just what we needed, after the lovely train ride we seemed to be ready for some more body bashing fun. Having completely ignored TR:TR last year, I decided to ride it again. Now I remember why I pass by it all the time, being held upside down for about 20 seconds is not much fun.. I couldn't decided whether my head was pounding so hard, or I herd The Beast calling. So being strapping young lads, we figured we would go Beast hunting. Oh boy did we find it, I must say that ride is still one of the best in the park. At this point, a nice cup of FREE ice water was in the works. I was willing to pay for a large cup of ice water, but a nice lady working the soda fountains told me not to worry about it. This made me very happy, and appreciate the great staff. During our little cool down, we strayed into the arcade, well if you could even call it that. The arcade seemed a bit empty (game wise and people wise). Around 3PM we realized that we had completely skipped over Action Zone, so of course that was a must. We threw on our flight gear once again, my friend being Goose and myself Maverick. Oh how we were true fighter pilots, if only there were some Migs to shoot down. After our brief but fun ride on Top Gun, I wondered how people could hate that ride. It was fast and fun, I think it is one of KI's best kept secretes (being that no one goes on it..). Intense lateral Gs had not full filed our adrenaline rush, so of course Drop Zone was in order. I was actually nervous for the first/only time of the day. Having ridden DZ multiple times, I still find it scary! Yet, we were not completely delirious, so we decided to ride Delirium. On our small trek over there, a group of boys managed to rip open a polar bear, oh my those little beans made me feel like it was winter; once again I was impressed with the staff, they quickly cleaned it up. After Delirium, we were finally feeling delirious, so we hit up the Feastus building for some Larosas. $5.01 for 3 bread sticks with a skimp amount of cheese and marinara sauce. Once again I got a nice cup of FREE ice water. Realizing we had little time left, we made our way back to Firehawk. There was once again a mechanical problem, this time being the rotating transfer track. I figured it would be open in about 30 minutes or so. So we waited and made our way up to the front of the line once again due to people who left. Here we met a nice lady with her daughter, both with preflight jitters. Once the ride finally opened, no one felt like going through all those turn styles/que lines. This was simply the line jumping Olympics of 2007, so much for being up in the front of the line. Its amazing what that ride does to people lol. Oh well my friend and I waited for about 5 minutes and once again sat in the front row, this time in the red train. For some reason the seats on the yellow train seemed a bit more comfy. Oh yea at this point I became a test dummy for trainees. A ride op was training about 5 kids who looked like they were 12 on how to properly check restraints. Once again, the ride delivered an amazing ride, but this time I felt like I was going to fall out. Maybe this was due to the fact I wasn't holding on so tightly and screaming like a sissy like on my first time around. Our day was coming to a close, what better way to end it on The Beast. We rode somewhere in the middle, this time around it seemed a bit faster, which I loved. Also, there was about a 10 minute wait this time, well worth it. After another excellent ride on The Beast, we hit up Greaters, and then left the park. Overall, this was a great day for my friend, myself, and the park! The park seemed to have a completely different atmosphere, I loved it. ~Lessons learned today~ *If Firehawk is down, I say wait it out. It is worth it, and most likely will be up and running within the hour. *If riding Firehawk, rent a locker right away, don't be turned away at the gate. I saw about 10 people with this problem today, wow were they furious. Seems like another stupid way to make money.. *ask for cups of ice water, they are FREE; it saved me about 15 dollars worth of drinks. Well, I hope you enjoyed my fairly detailed trip report, sorry it was long, but it was a great day and I had much to type about!

FIREHAWK=big time disappointment/waste of time.
beastbreakdown replied to Michael's topic in Trip Reports
I am willing to wait for hours tomorrow to ride Firehawk. I'm planning on getting at least three rides in tomorrow !! -
Hmm.. do you know if a lot of schools are going tomorrow? I was planning on going to Kings Island sometime this week. I know in the summers Tuesdays are usually walk on everything days; but, if a bunch of schools are going to be up there then i might just go on Wednesday.

Disney rumor reignited
beastbreakdown replied to Avatar's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hmm Disney's America anyone? It would make sense considering that is pretty much the "heartland" of this country. Also, isn't that how Walt went about purchasing the land in Florida? On top of that, what other company would have that much revenue to start up a park right now. Six Flags is climbing out of their debt, and Cedar Fair just purchased all of those parks. So if a large company were to be developing this land, all fingers point to Disney. Well, that is my two cents. Have a great day! -
Hmm… That brings about an interesting point. If AT would be removed, a circular path could be created connecting that end of the midway to the section back by FoF and Firehawk. This would get rid of the problem of having both paths dead end, and it would also create a small area for a small expansion. Also the red storrage buldings would also have to be removed.

Thats good to hear that the big guy (Dick Kenzel) was walking arround and checking things out; even picking up trash. I think that shows that the managment cares and has a true passion for what they do. I am expecting great things from Cedar Fair. I cant wait to go up next weekend!

This is what worked for me... One day I was up at the park and some of my friends forced me on Drop Zone. After that my adrenaline was so high it was just natural to want more, so we traveled over to Face OFf which was my first looping coaster of all time. Before that day I was scared of going upside down, which now I look back upon and laugh, because going upside down is not even scarry at all! My best advice is like everyone elses, just bite the bullet strap in and enjoy the ride. Well I only suggest that if you like rollercoasters that is (ex The Beast, racer, and so on). -Chris

Firehawk Construction Is Well Under Way!
beastbreakdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Wow I never realized how vast that land area was. With it being pretty bear you can see just how large this coaster will be, even though we already know its magnitude from Geuga lake. I can't wait untill opening day! Excelent pictures might I add! You recieve one million thank yous! -Chris -
Actualy, last year a few vending machines/portable stands did sell Vault. I bought a few of them . Anyways My prefered choice is Coke, but I do not despise Pepsi. If for some reason a switch would be made I wouldn't be upset. Also does anyone remember when Pepsi came out with Pepsi Blue for about 2 months? Did anyone else like that or was I the only person who did lol? -Chris

The shoes I wear depend on how much I will be doing and how the weather is. When Sunny, I will wear a pair of all white adidas originals; I guess that is what they are called. (I forget the exact name of the shoe) By the way the shoes only cost about 60 dollars and with good care will stay decently white for over a year and a half. On colder days, I will wear a pair of basketball shoes which keep my feet somewhat warm and somewhat comfortable. So I tend to wear my adidas’ because they are comfortable, a bit loose and over all awesome =). Well that is in my opinion. -Chris

GL is a nice park and a good way to spend a day up in that region. I know when I went up there about 4 years ago there was a pretty cool little aquarium and some aquatic animals (across the lake from the theme park); is that still there? Also I think Cedar Fair made a great decision on making the park a bit smaller, it seemed to big and awkward when six flags owned it. I have a feeling I will be making a trip up there sometime soon, possibly stop there and then hit up Cedar Point. Also to add onto CombatStupendous's comment about Aurora, I stayed up in Canton back in 2002 when Elder was in the state championship game for football. That city was also pretty nice in the downtown area, but it seemed dead. That night after the game the only people that could be found driving in the city were those who were at the game. Hmm maybe there is something going on up in that region that is kept secret. -Chris

More X Flight Dismantling
beastbreakdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well where ever they ship it to hopefully X-flight will recieve a new coat of paint. It appears some of the supports in those pictures seem like they are starting to chip and flake. -Chris -
Son Of Beast: Out of the Loop!
beastbreakdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet or not but they have also updated PKIs website. Under thrill rides the information for SoB reads as "If the father scared you, wait until you ride the son! The Tallest, Fastest Coaster on the Planet will send you screaming down it's 214-foot hill at speeds over 78 mph. You've never experienced anything like this before. Not anywhere. Not ever." Notice it completely left out anything about a loop. Well I thought I would just add that small bit of info/trivia. -Chris -
I don't know about that... It seems to be almost the exact size as X-flight footprint if not smaller. I don’t think we would get anything bigger. I mean if you think about it, we kind of already have a hyper-coaster... its just made out of wood Well, we should know soon if we are getting X-flight; because it is being currently being dismantled. So shipping should be occurring sometime soon. I'm not very educated on the subject of transporting used coasters, but do they dismantle it and ship it once it is completely apart, or do they ship sections of it as it is being dismantled? -Chris (EDIT: ha looks like CoastersRZ beat me by a few minutes as I was typing up the my post almost identical to his lol.)

Lion Sleeps Tonight, Im just curious who your source is cause they must know alot! just curious... -Chris

I am so glad that places are finally going smoke free. Cause honestly designated smoking areas never work, look at pki; there might be about 3 people smoking in the designated areas but everyone else just smokes where ever they please. Well atleast now I know I can go and enjoy the zoo without smoke, but I never really came across people who smoked at the zoo... -Chris

Cedar Points 2007 Project
beastbreakdown replied to TOPGUN1993's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have a feeling this thing will be massive, well long any ways (due to track assembly so soon) I also think this coaster will be a new type of coaster, because of all the weird aspects that everyone speaks of. Maybe that would be another reason for starting construction so soon, if it would be maybe a new prototype coaster they will have plenty of time to work the kinks out. -Chris -
How many times did you visit the park this season?
beastbreakdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Lol well that would make since. I think I'm going to look into working up there next season if I dont play football next year. -Chris
