  1. TPR is drinking the Screamscape Kool-Aid. I know Dollywood posted that, but I'm seeing evidence of the contrary right now on the interwebs.
  2. Nothing from the following sites or Facebook accounts on their respective RMC's- Kentucky Kingdom SDC SFMM SFDK SFGAm SFNE SFoT SFFT SFM EDIT: Nothing on RMC's main webpage or FB account. EDIT2: Take this how you want, but Screamscape (I think I hear salt shakers) is saying that RMC made that order.
  3. Your kid doesn't happen to be a newspaper deliverer by chance?
  4. I think spiels should be kept short, mostly keeping to things like buckling the seat belt before pulling down the restraint, explaining more elaborate restraints (like on Firehawk), throw in a welcome and telling exiting riders to have a good day, maybe even throw in a few (correct) ride stats if loading/unloading takes a while. Keep it simple, but I don't mind some professionally ad lib bits.
  5. I don't know, man. They put a lot of good information out there (this time) so they can't be that bad. Would you pick Buzz over TPR? I mean, that's the big two... Let's just say I used to be a staff member there (coaster-net), and the behind the scenes crap is beyond idiotic. If y'all wonder why I can pull up info on coasters/parks so quickly, its because I did loads of research being a news and editorial writer over there as well as writing a few rides and park pages (all of which have been changed and/or removed since my departure). As Forrest Gump would say- That's all I have to say about that.
  6. Ugh...Coaster-net....I hate them more than my combined dislike of TPR and Screamscape.
  7. Is it a barrel, or rather..keg of nails? Yep, still hoping for a Bearcat theme.
  8. ^I stand corrected. I thought one of Racers' last hills may have been in the way of the path leading to Flight of Fear prior to its introduction. I was aware of extending the brake run though.
  9. ^Sheesh, getting all pedantic on my sarcasm, eh? Beast Gal- Loosen up and let us have a bit of fun every once in a while without pointing out every little nitpicking detail.
  10. Now I have an image of Don pulling an Undercover Boss and working the Dippin' Dots stand.
  11. ^That and it must be a slow news day if news outlets are resorting to that.
  12. ^Such a change to the brake run would require much more re-profiling than one may realize as well. Re-building the ride w/o trims would almost require a complete re-build of the ride, like 80%+.
  13. From an ROI standpoint, I don't see the point. Its already one of, if not, the most popular coaster in the park. What would changing it accomplish? I think it would irk more people (thinking about the local GP here) than anything. Also, Millennium Flyers may be great trains, but they along with riders have their limitations. Taking that first turn out of the first tunnel too fast would create some pretty strong laterals there. I also don't think the structure could take that kind of abuse on the turns minus trims being as old as it is (remember, most of it is original). MF's still weigh quite a bit, and taking those turns at 60+ mph constantly through daily operations would still take a toll.
  14. Wasn't that done partially because of Flight of Fear?
  15. To those saying GCI doesn't build big... I give you Viper at Wanda Nanchang in China Stats (From GCI's webpage) Height- 160 ft Drop Height- 142.5 ft Length- 5,111 ft Top Speed- 62.1 mph
  16. ^There are 3 options to get to Soak City. One is through the entrance from the parking lot, another is walking on the path from Planet Snoopy, and finally, you can take the train with its station in Rivertown close to the Reds Hall of Fame Grille.
  17. I will say I love having a back and forth like this. I want to get out of the way that I realize this could be an RMC as much as a GCI, but discounting GCI based off your own opinions and vague hints to how you think the GP will react to either doesn't dismiss GCI. Recent Cedar Fair ride additions and work with GCI is enough evidence for that, which is one reason I'm still leaning to this being a GCI. The current trend does have RMC in the picture though, I'll admit that much.
  18. ^Last I checked, wood coasters are still pretty popular at parks regardless of that.
  19. I'm not saying GCI is bad. The only GCI I have ridden is Thunderhead and it's a great coaster. But let's be honest RMC is the hot coaster company right now and most non enthusiasts aren't gonna be all that excited by a GCI woodie. I personally would be happy with a GCI Most non-enthusiasts won't care who makes it as long as its a good ride.
  20. ^Uhh, several 'big' parks have/had GCI's as well... Six Flags Magic Mountain, Europa Park, both Busch Gardens parks. BTW, I could use your argument for RMC as well.
  21. ^ Wildcat @ Hersheypark- I will say I liked it better with PTC's as that was the way it was designed, but I still like the laterals on it. Not as much airtime as the other GCI's I've done, but still a fun layout. I will cut it some slack as its GCI's first coaster. Lightning Racer @ Hersheypark- This is my #3 wooden coaster(s)- non-stop action from the minute the trains leave the lifts. Lots of air time, some nice s-curves and crossover action to compliment the dueling aspects. I love the small hills and curvy runs between all the bigger hills. Thunderhead @ Dollywood- This is my #2 wooden coaster behind The Beast. Its even wilder than LR. There's curves and dips within every element (elements within elements if you will), its fast paced, loaded with air time (especially the 2nd half) and the station fly-through is the cherry on top. To me, its the wooden equivalent of Maverick. Also, Millennium Flyers are amazing trains.
  22. Why are a lot of you suddenly discrediting GCI? They build fantastic rides. Sure, RMC does too, but that doesn't automatically mean GCI is bad. GCI's being disappointing? Good grief.
