  1. ^Last I checked, wood coasters are still pretty popular at parks regardless of that.
  2. I'm not saying GCI is bad. The only GCI I have ridden is Thunderhead and it's a great coaster. But let's be honest RMC is the hot coaster company right now and most non enthusiasts aren't gonna be all that excited by a GCI woodie. I personally would be happy with a GCI Most non-enthusiasts won't care who makes it as long as its a good ride.
  3. ^Uhh, several 'big' parks have/had GCI's as well... Six Flags Magic Mountain, Europa Park, both Busch Gardens parks. BTW, I could use your argument for RMC as well.
  4. ^ Wildcat @ Hersheypark- I will say I liked it better with PTC's as that was the way it was designed, but I still like the laterals on it. Not as much airtime as the other GCI's I've done, but still a fun layout. I will cut it some slack as its GCI's first coaster. Lightning Racer @ Hersheypark- This is my #3 wooden coaster(s)- non-stop action from the minute the trains leave the lifts. Lots of air time, some nice s-curves and crossover action to compliment the dueling aspects. I love the small hills and curvy runs between all the bigger hills. Thunderhead @ Dollywood- This is my #2 wooden coaster behind The Beast. Its even wilder than LR. There's curves and dips within every element (elements within elements if you will), its fast paced, loaded with air time (especially the 2nd half) and the station fly-through is the cherry on top. To me, its the wooden equivalent of Maverick. Also, Millennium Flyers are amazing trains.
  5. Why are a lot of you suddenly discrediting GCI? They build fantastic rides. Sure, RMC does too, but that doesn't automatically mean GCI is bad. GCI's being disappointing? Good grief.
  6. The current KK is a mere shadow of what they used to be.
  7. Holiday World question- any particularly good discounts on tickets? Particularly multi-day tickets?
  8. I thought you guys were referring to actual footings found at the park, not the blueprints. My bad.
  9. Well there is image floating around indicating the ties are steel. Where is this image?
  10. Uh...RMC and GCI footings are going to look similar. Until we get an announcement or see the steel beams used for the Iron Horse or Topper Track (whichever comes first), all we can do is speculate.
  11. If KI goes for the most airtime on a wood coaster, I'd be down with that.
  12. I don't think this will be a launch coaster. Upon looking at that first turn on what appears to be the lift (I think its too short of a straight away for a launch given its length), it starts out at a small turn radius and gets wider as it progresses. That to me is a tell tale sign of a first drop GCI style and with the supports around the lift, the track after the first drop will go above the lift. And yes, I think it'll be a GCI.
  13. Ok, I have dates finalized now- Kentucky Kingdom- July 1 Holiday World- Week of July 25
  14. Here's a thought- if Mean Streak is getting RMC'ed, wouldn't we see construction by now? Texas Giant took about a year and a half to re-do, and Mean Streak is a little bit bigger.
  15. If it were before around 2014, then I'd say I'd usually do LaRosa's, but I also mix it up and go to all the venues at some point. Now, it'll be somewhere on Kings Island Drive unless the food department gets better. I'm not as ambitious as Terp to make it out to Putz's though.
  16. You know, most of us won't know anything for sure until the park actually announces the thing. Sitting on the forum constantly saying you know what its going to be is trolling in and of itself, and honestly, its annoying and rude. We know why you can't/won't, so honestly, just keep it to yourself if you're going to continue to gloat about it in such an arrogant manner. We probably still have 2 months of this left. Most of us want to see how the park plays this thing up and will wait until the park announces and want to be surprised because we have this thing called patience.
  17. I've worked at Potato Works, and I had no clue about Italian Job when I worked there in 2004, sans the sewer line they hit when digging out Antique Cars (being in view of that every work day was heartbreaking). The food department is getting weird...
  18. But would that make it any better? I don't know if a simple reprofiling would improve on the boring layout. But I'd love to be wrong...Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk GhostRider also received Millennium Flyers which track way better than PTC's. I just brought it up as a possibility with so many people seemingly sold on an RMC conversion.
