Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
goofywdw replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I got a cool look at the new pathway to The Beast on the webcam. Not much but I thought it was cool. -
Congrats! I worked there for a day and it was awesome to see all of the little kids so excited! If everything is the same as last year I think you will also work at the little bumper cars and the little cars that go around the track next to Fairly Odd Coaster. Have fun!
-
^Ohh that's sweet. It looks like a fun ride to work with the small crowds and also working with the little ones is fun. When you are in rides you are "sent" a lot to rides that don't have enough of their crew in to run the ride. I was sent to West Pie which is one of the 4 pies of nickelodeon universe. I got to work at the kiddy bumper cars and it was awesome working with the little ones. I was also sent to Delirium A LOT. I don't know why but everyone hated being a sent there but I loved it. Well I hope you have a blast! See you around the park I guess!
-
Yes. I pulled a Terpy! Goofy, in your heart, knew he would.
-
^That's cool. I hope you have a great interview! Remember, if you have an interview go straight to the Festhaus. You don't have to wait in the humungo line. Good luck!
-
Not a silly question at all. I didn't need mine but it wouldn't hurt. I brought my SS card, birth certificate, and work permit, didnt need any of them. But I would just incase.
-
^No problem! Relax and treat it like a conversation. Read over the job description on the website and be sure to become familiar with it so you can answer questions that go well with that job description. Best of luck to you! I KNOW IT WAS CRAZY...they ended up loosing my application and prescreening papers so i had to do all of that over again, as for my entertainer position, they didnt have any more spots open for trombone so i didnt get that, but I got ride associate! my two rides are Adventure Express and viking furry i got there at 9 am and didnt get done until 4 pm... That's awesome! Rides is such an amazing experience! But I just want to say, have fun height checking all of the munchkins! I have a question though. Did you get to choose AE and VF or did they give you a choice between a few crews or did they tell you were you were going to work? Have fun with the Action Zone crew. They/We are/were the best!

You go in through the main gate and you follow down to the entrance and you will see a bunch of cars parked down there. You pass through the main entrance of the park and you will see a huge line. If you already have an interview you can just follow the line but don't wait in it and head all the way up to the Festhaus. When you get in there is a table and tell them you have an interview and with what department and they will tell you to go to another table to tell them you are there. They will call your name over a microphone and you go in for your interview. If you don't have an interview already set up get there as soon as you can because the line is huge and outside where it is cold but you get to see DB.

I heard about this. But I had no idea they did all of that. More plus points for White Castle for me.
-
^Ohhhh ok. They did look so much better with them. I wish Kingda Ka did something cool with their trains except some cool color schemes but hey, that's Six Flags for ya.
-
Well for TTD didn't a set of wheels on one of the trains go flying off so they took off a whole car on all of the trains? That's the only one I can find an excuse for.
-
Woohoo! I just put it up on my dashboard! Thanks so much, that looks awesome!
-
I saw all of those people today in those pictures you posted but they didn't bother to take a picture of my handsome face?
-
Thanks! Admissions includes ticket/season pass sales and processing, turnstiles, and all of that kind of stuff. I go by my middle name so I don't know what my name tag will say but I did have my middle name on my name tag last year. I will let you guys know. He told me they were offering the job and I guess he assumed I said yes because of my situation with my job in rides last year. It's confusing but I got my paperwork and am going to fill it out asap and send it in.
-
I got the job! I'm in admissions. I hope to see all of you on Opening Day at the front gate! I feel like I should write a trip report. There were sooooo many people there. A line all the way from the Festhaus back to the front gates. But luckily I saw my old supervisor from rides and asked if I had to wait in the line since I already had an interview and she walked me up to the front. Apparently that was what I was supposed to do but there was no way of knowing. Well inside there were TONS of people waiting in line to fill out applications on the computers they had (like only 10-15). It was a madhouse. I hope everyone else on here got their job too!

I was just at the park for the job fair and saw Don all over the place. But more importantly Diamondback looks amazing even from towards the end near the tower on International Street! -
I'm getting ready to leave for the park for my interview. Good luck to everyone applying as well!
-
^Thanks so much!

Interview tomorrow morning! I hope it goes as well as my last interview with KI!

I am also excited for those little drops. The drop out of the mcbr and the drop into the splashdown look to be a little bit more intense than we think. -

^^^No I definitely think coaster_junky is right. I think they are talking about the spine not the actual size of the track. Just looking at this beast through the webcam makes me so excited. When I was in the park for the returning employee party it look amazingly huge even back by Action Zone. I will be back there again during the job fair Saturday but during the day so I can't wait to see it in the sunlight! -

Look at the action going on in the storage track area. -
Who's bidding on the first seats on Diamondback?
goofywdw replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^I was seriously considering that. Like go and film Diamondback but hit up The Beast and everything else the park has to offer with no lines. Maybe run to Diamondback for one quick ride and then run off to the other side of the park and reunite with some friends in rides and enjoy the emptiness. -
Who's bidding on the first seats on Diamondback?
goofywdw replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I didn't want to do my homework so I calculated how much money has been raised so far. I have question first though. If someone does not bid enough to get a seat does that money still go towards A Kid Again? If that is the case then the park will raise so far $21,378.83!!!!! Also if that is the case then $3,559.71 will go towards A Kid Again from people that did not even get a seat on the first 3 trains.
