  1. "John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of the amusement park, said Monday that Cedar Point will support a 0.25 percent increase in the admissions tax next year if city residents approve a 0.25 percent income-tax hike this November." Mason did not ask for the city residents' input. They merely held a council meeting and everyone spoke their mind about how they feel the tax will negatively and/or positively impact the economy and local businesses, etc. I still do not know whether the vote will be up to the council or if it will be up to the city residents. Mason is IMPOSING a 3% admissions and 5% parking tax on its residents. Cedar Point is allowing city residents to vote on a 0.25% admissions tax. There is a big difference.
  2. Hopefully they have shirts of all sizes in that store.. *coughHINTcough* Being a female with a small build, it frustrates me when I go into an amusement park's store to shop for a coaster shirt, only to see that the only available sizes are for toddlers and large men.
  3. My vote goes to Racer. I have a weakness for wooden coasters. As much as I love DB, Racer just has that classic wooden coaster appeal that every amusement park needs.
  4. Jackson, thank you for that link. I can't wait for HoliWood Nights 2010.. if it's ANYTHING as special as it was this year, you can bet anything that I will be there for every minute of that event.
  5. What I would like to know is, which park usually opens first? Or are their opening days usually the same?
  6. I rode in the middle, and came off with a headache, backache, and a bruise on my right side. I had to take several painkillers so I could enjoy the rest of my day at KI. If that is "trying to fit in," then so be it. I don't enjoy rides that beat the living hell out of me.. if I'm going to ride a coaster and come off with a bruise, at least Magnum XL-200 is worth it.
  7. Roughest: Mean Streak Hated on the most: Blue Streak at Cedar Point Old Blue is so underrated.. it may have a small footprint, but it gives great pops of airtime.. especially since the ancient lap bars don't give you less than 2 inches of space on the lowest click. So many people I know say it is too rough, and that makes me sad. It's a classic John Allen. It's 45 years old.. it's going to be a tad rough, but it's nothing I can't handle.
  8. I have a stupid question. For the platinum pass 4-pack, it says $144. Is that $144 a piece, or $144 total for all 4 passes? I've never purchased them that way before.
  9. As Gary (Beast79) already stated, there is a divider between the seats. So it's not like you could fly out. Besides, have faith in the ride ops that check and clear every lap bar on the train before it leaves the station. I highly doubt that GG would release these trains on such a prominent coaster if they were declared unsafe. They have already been tested on Raven, another one of Holiday World's coasters.
  10. I completely understand where you're coming from. Voyage is a very intense ride, and you're not the first to say that (a group of my friends from up north went to HoliWood Nights this year, and they all came off with bruises on the same spots, proudly showing them off as Voyage tattoos ). Kat's (violakat03) advice to me before I rode it for the first time was "DON'T brace yourself for the turns, or it WILL hurt you. Just let it take you where it wants you to go." If it still hurts you after that piece of advice, try riding in the very front seat, where most coasters are much less painful. Give Voyage another chance.. trust me, it's totally worth it.
  11. If you would like to refer to my post, please use the quote button instead of the caret. Otherwise, I have no idea who you are talking to.. a caret is used to show where something should be inserted into a line of text. If I want to quote someone who posted 17 posts before me, would I post "^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^" before I start typing? That just looks ridiculous. Anyway, I'm going to wait until after the 23rd to see if this passes. I plan on renewing a platinum pass for myself, and purchasing a gold pass for my father as a Christmas present, so I am just going to wait and see what happens with parking before I spend that kind of money.
  12. How will this possibly affect the Buy Now, Pay Later season pass sales? I'd like to know. I'm definitely buying a platinum pass for myself, and considering a gold pass for my dad for Christmas. If this tax passes, and free parking at KI with gold and platinum is taken away, then I have some thinking to do.
  13. Holy old topic, Batman! Eiffel Tower, Beast, and Racer will never leave KI. They are KI landmarks. I'm not so sure about everything else.
  14. Methinks I may surprise my dad with a Gold Pass for Christmas.
  15. On the subject of water, Ryan (BoddaH1994) and I learned that riding AE in a downpour is NOT the smartest idea. OUCH!
  16. I love going to KI by myself.. I usually end up with anywhere from 1 to 10 people in tow What means the most to me, as I have realized: Seeing my friends working the rides, and the look of recognition on their face. Exiting a ride to see my friends waiting for me so we can ride together.
  17. I learned while I was out there how people really do take things for granted. So many locals drove by or walked by without even seeing the great structure.. no looking up, not even a sideways glance.
  18. So you found them with your ear? Well, he DOES have me as a friend.. who wouldn't hear my loud mouth?
  19. Well, on November 7, I took a trip with 3 other KICers to Six Flags St Louis, and went to the top of the Gateway Arch. I: spend time with my boyfriend and friends make my own jewelry visit zoos, aquariums, and nature reserves read good books go to bars sing karaoke find hilly roads and drive fast over them chat on forums play Bejeweled plot what parks to visit next year reread my best PTRs and remember how much fun I had goof off on Facebook offer my html and photoshop knowledge to my website-building friends I also work full time and am waiting on college paperwork to finalize so I can take classes again.
  20. To be completely honest, if I had to choose between a roller coaster ride and another trip to the top of the Arch right now, I'd choose the Arch. It was that amazing to me. More information can be found here. http://www.gatewayarch.com/Arch/index.aspx If you plan on going, text the word Arch to 313131. You will receive a text for a buy one get one free admission to the top of the Arch. We took advantage of that.. our trip only ended up being $5 per person. It was a small price to pay for such an unforgettable experience. The Arch Riverfront also offers helicopter tours, bicycle rentals, a museum, special exhibits, riverboat cruises, and documentary movies on the creation of the American West, the building of the Arch, and Lewis and Clark's journey. Not to mention the Historic Old Courthouse is right there on the riverfront.. Dred Scott, a slave, asked for his freedom at that courthouse. I highly suggest that anyone who has not done the Gateway Arch experience DO IT when and if you get the chance. It's the experience of a lifetime.
  21. did you happen to read my latest ptr? kat, adam, nick, and i took a trip to st louis. it was beyond epic.

  22. I second that. These wonderfully detailed PTRs are making me seethe with jealousy!
  23. I don't see Platinum on that list.
