Many Thanks to the employees of KI
I would like to sound off to everyone who gave low marks to any of the departments or employees at KI. I work in customer service. I know how hard it is to work long hours with sloppy, careless guests with bad behavior. It does get to you. If I see an employee looking unhappy, I'll smile and say hello in a sincere way. Or I'll chat with them. When I went to CP last year, I saw a ride op by Power Tower's entrance, pouring sweat and looking like she might pass out. I brought her a cup of ice water. I do things like that. If an employee has an attitude with me, I'll break the ice with something about how much it sucks to work in customer service. They usually chat back with me and end up with a better attitude. Sometimes they just feel better about venting a little about bad customers to someone who understands what position they are in. I know many ride ops and employees at both KI and CP, and I can sympathize with them and their hard work. Halloween Haunt is quite possibly the busiest time of the year (ever go to KI on a Haunt Saturday in October? Or even worse, a HalloWeekends Saturday in October at CP? YIPES!!). Unlike places like Walt Disney World where people are paid to "play a role" and make sure that it is the happiest place on earth, most amusement parks rely on the attractions to make that happen, and staff isn't there to make sure you have a good day. They are there to make sure that you are safely put on/off attractions, and they are there to make sure you are fed, and they are there to make sure that you spend money and bring in money for Cedar Fair. They are paid to do this on top of the test they have in Bio on Monday morning for which they will have no time to study all weekend, or worry about the paper that is due that they have been unable to get to work on, because they are working. It may also not be their only job. They may also miss their family, friends, boyfriend or girlfriend back home (many employees travel from quite a way to work at KI). This adds up to a tremendous amount of stress. Please, give them the benefit of the doubt. Try to make their day, make friends, or at least smile. It DOES make a difference.

So who is going Sunday Nov 1st?
I'm going, but not to Kings Island.

Haunt is Back and Better Than Ever!
DEFINITELY a must see show.. and it is indeed only intended for mature audiences. I saw it, and also got to tell Don Helbig about my thoughts on the show. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest that you do.

Does Diamondback Really Have the Airtime Record?
Nick, PLEASE do not judge Voyage until you have ridden it. Comparing DB to Voyage is like comparing apples to starfruit. DB feels like it has more floater air, and that's probably where the seconds added up. Even while being completely stapled on Voyage, I was still thrown off my seat into my restraint where the mad ejector air is.

Thank You Moderators
I second all of this. Ryan, Dane, and Robbie do a fantastic job of keeping the boards clean with acceptable subject matter. I realize that it is not an easy job to keep a large enthusiast forum clean, and that sometimes you guys may get yelled at when spam or other garbage is not gone in a nanosecond. Trust me, I appreciate it, as does everyone else here. If any of you three think that your job on here is thankless, you are completely wrong.

Follow My Orlando Adventure
I shall follow your intriguing adventures.. jealously, but avidly.. Hope you have a great time. I can't wait to hear all about it!

Paramount Past
Um.. what? Don't forget that if the park was still owned under Paramount, that a platinum pass (which many of us have or are planning to buy) would be completely useless, unless you live close to Cedar Point. And I have a hard time believing that Paramount would have agreed to the addition of a B&M hyper. Even if they did, I cannot begin to imagine the stupid name they would have come up with.

If they tear down Son Of Beast...
Enough said.

Add or change one thing at KI
Well if SFKK starts suffering the same fate as Geauga Lake (seeing as how they're replacing a B&M standup with a water park, I don't think they're too far off), maybe their Enterprise will find its way to KI?

Urgent Scare souvenir photos not showing up
I corrected my post and the title. Thanks.

HalloWeekends 10/24/09 Trip Report
I've noticed that it's usually less crowded in September than it is in October during HalloWeekends. You picked a good day to go to CP.

Urgent Scare souvenir photos not showing up
Twice this year I have been to Urgent Scare, where they take your photo after you walk in the door. Both times, I've been handed a souvenir photo ticket with a specific number on it. Both times, I've checked my tickets 1, 2, 3, and 4 days after the photo was taken. They have not shown up. I've double and triple checked my ticket numbers and the date the photo was taken. Nothing. Is anyone else having this problem?

HalloWeekends 10/24/09 Trip Report
I hear you, 100%. Link to my October 10-12 CP trip last year, from October 11.. a warm, sunny Halloweekends Saturday with a coaster event going on, and it being Columbus Day Weekend. The lines were completely ridiculous. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=248253 EDIT: POST 1,946!! (inside joke for those that know me )

Drop Zone
I don't know what this Drop Zone is that you speak of, but I haven't seen Drop Tower at Kings Island running lately.

Stuck on Diamondback today
emphasis added Didn't you mean to say: Therefore, it is far more safe to stop the train that it would be for the train to continue its course, if the train behind it or in front of it is in the next block in front of or behind the train? After all, the purpose of blocks is to keep at least one block empty between trains (at Kings Island, the wooden coasters have long kept two blocks of separation...) Thanks for the correction. I was yawning while I was typing last night. I reread that sentence a few times and kept thinking something was off.

HalloWeekends 10/24/09 Trip Report
You aren't joking! I'm surprised he still has a spine! Dustin, I'm glad you finally got to go to CP. But one day, you'll have to go on a Tuesday or a Sunday. Or stay for two days. Saturdays at CP, no matter what time of the year, are total suicide.

Which is more fun?
I didn't watch Maverick's POV at all before I rode, and it was a terrific surprise. As many times as I watched Voyage's POV and looked at videos and pics, NOTHING prepared me for that wild, fantastic ride. And as many times as I watched DB's animated POV before it opened, it didn't prepare me for that out-of-your-seat air that puts such a ****-eating grin on my face. I agree with not knowing until you ride.. you can't feel lats or airtime while watching a POV.

That was us! My dad didn't go to CM. Tony Clark threw a CM 2008 sweatshirt at me at ACE Winter SOAR this past winter and told me to stay warm. It was a mens size XL.. I wear a juniors size medium. So I just gave it to my dad.

Stuck on Diamondback today
Trains are supposed to be on certain spots on a coaster at all times (for example, on a coaster with 3 available trains: one in the station or on the lift, one on the brake run, and one on the course of the track). If not, the blocking system is activated and will either slow or stop a train to prevent a possible train collision. This is known as a blocking system. The blocking is there for safety. As is the MCBR, it was originally used for emergency purposes only. If a train did not stop on a block (the MCBR usually being one of the blocks), a train may crash into another train, causing injury to the riders. This does not apply when trains are stacking up on the brake run due to poor capacity, or when a coaster is running in rain mode (a train or two is taken off). Therefore, it is far more safe to stop the train than it would be for the train to continue its course, if the train behind it or in front of it is not in one of the block areas.

You DID scare me, you scared me to death when you poked your head out and snarled at me! I didn't recognize you until AFTER you made me jump a foot
