  1. Hard: KI&MVRR from the WWC exit path bridge Easy: the International Showplace
  2. Anyone else realizing what things you've never taken a picture of at KI thanks to this thread? Hard: the Mysteria "this attraction opens at" sign Easy: the Kings Island Theatre (outside or inside)
  3. homestar92, that would be awesome.
  4. I realize this is a pretty huge bump, but given that this is the closest thing this site has to a general "interesting eBay items" thread... Have you guys seen the Kings Island Wurlitzer organ record that's on eBay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUEEN-OF-KINGS-ISLAND-Volume-1-LP-Wurlitzer-Duplex-Orchestral-Organ-Style-157-NJ-/370688555240?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item564ec278e8 Its Buy It Now price is $7.50. I don't personally have that much of an attraction to it outside of novelty (and don't have a record player), but I figure someone here might be interested. Just thought I'd pass it along!
  5. Technical fixes I believe require Dane, who is most likely the one who installed the update. I originally had this issue, but then I emptied the cache in Chrome. It's working fine now.
  6. Insert obligatory Interpreter reference to a big blue B&M at the Point. Which pretty much is true now, anyway.
  7. Hard: a (park-approved!) photo from inside a Haunt Easy: the Grand Carousel at night
  8. I like the sound of this! Not my greatest photo, but it's of the batwing... Hard: Any defunct ride that's not Son of Beast Easy: The KI skyline
  9. Admins are the ones in charge of thread deletion. That being said, this thread is useful in my opinion--I never covered how to post Flickr photos on here in my tutorial.
  10. BeastBuzz looks like it was a lot of fun. I'd absolutely be interested in going to it.
  11. Here's your photo: You'd put this part of your code you were trying in the "Image Properties" box: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8337/8226198986_f692828b4a.jpg
  12. Any memories I have related to Son of Beast are pretty much only related to the people I rode it with. It used to be a staple of a visit to the park in 2008 because my friend loved it. I liked The Crypt more than SoB (which should say something about SoB, considering how much I liked TR:TR), so we'd usually trade off rides. I'd ride Son of Beast once with my friend, and then she'd ride The Crypt with me. The only thing that really interested me about Son of Beast was looking at the pieces of Diamondback's supports stored behind the ride and being surprised at how big the supports looked to me. I didn't think that season was that great at the time, but I now think that's probably been my favorite season since I started buying my own pass in 2008. (Ironically, both of those rides are gone now!) The only exceptional memory of the ride I have is of the one time I rode it in the dark after a light, prolonged rain in 2008. The train was totally hauling through the course, which somehow ended up easing some of the jackhammering in the helices. It still wasn't that great, but it was probably the best ride I ever got on it. The heightened sense of speed surprised me. I also remember noticing how weird it was the couple times I rode it in 2009 that there was another coaster across the park around the same height as SoB. Didn't know those rides would be the last I had, but I really can't say I miss the ride for any reason besides nostalgia. That being said, I rode the thing enough to remember the hanging feeling when the train entered the turn out of the station, the awkward way the train jumped back and forth between the rails on the first big turn, and the way the jackhammering would inescapably force your elbows into your legs if you tried to resist the shaking. I've got whiplash just thinking about it. (Sorry if that post didn't flow well... I'm a little worn out, so all the thoughts just kinda spilled out all at once.)
  13. In general: What makes me want to visit a park are the rides. What makes me like a park is if everything else is done well. I originally went to Holiday World for Voyage and Kennywood for Thunderbolt, but I ended up loving both parks for much more than just those rides. The exceptions to that seem to be the Busch parks and Islands of Adventure, which I want to visit mostly because of the whole experience and theming. (Well... that, and Gwazi, Verbolten, Kumba, and Dragon Challenge. )
  14. Oh, I would absolutely love to be there. Trust me, the motivation's there--I just have to make sure I'll have the means and the availability, too. If there's one thing I like, it's being around people who get excited about the things I get excited about while doing those exciting things. Plus, the idea of riding Raven at night sounds amazing. (I know Voyage and Legend are probably great, too... Raven just strikes me as having the most potential for greatness at night.) Oddly enough, I had a guy wearing an ACE jacket try to convince me to go to Holiwood Nights last time I visited Holiday World using almost the exact same reasons. As I still thought at the time that finals would coincide with the event, I told him I wouldn't be able to... and then he tried to justify me not studying for finals that weekend. I can honestly say I've never had someone try to tempt me before or since to neglect school for the sake of roller coasters. That wasn't you, by chance, was it?
  15. Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles?
  16. Shake, Rattle & Roll, for sure. Not nauseating like Monster but not as simple as Scrambler. I love it!
  17. Which, as you can see from the following screenshot, does not appear the same way on my screen. I did not know it was that long for anyone else, so I will fix it. Thank you for letting me know.
  18. You know what's more annoying than the crop of somewhat uninspired threads that have popped up lately (not including this one)? The cynicism/trolling from the "cool" kids. There, I've had my grumpy post for this off-season. Carry on!
  19. Pretty Yucky Thing Having Only Nuisances, as it were. (Just kidding! Python's my favorite coaster at Coney.)
  20. I'm definitely interested in going to my first Holiwood Nights this year. Nothing's guaranteed at this point, but this is the first year since I've discovered Holiday World that the event isn't falling the weekend before finals week. There's actually a chance I'll be able to make it, but we'll have to see how things go down.
  21. Wingriders aren't objectively poor quality coasters. They're standard fare from B&M with unique seating. For some people, that is epic, and for others, it's not. Wild Eagle isn't crazy intense (though the first drop and zero-G are surprisingly pleasant in the last row), but I personally enjoyed it, even though I'm rarely excited by B&M's. I'm not super psyched about Gatekeeper, but I think it'll be worth a ride.
  22. There's an interesting thought. Originally, I read that and thought, "There's nowhere for an outdoor part to exist." Then it hit me: what's keeping them from dividing the path in half from the old admission stand location to the current queue entrance? The length of that entrance path would be fairly close to the 2008-2010 entrance path, and it's got most of the same elements as before: the shedded area (which could regain the hanging tarps in a much more claustrophobic manner) and the outdoor "field" areas (which would gain the litter from years prior.) The exit path could regain its props, too, including the smashed cars, etc. from the old Worksite.
  23. ^ On the contrary--wouldn't the Kinzelsaurus be the tallest and fastest dinosaur in the country? I'd guess we'll see the Flame-osaurus Rex from 2011 finally appear in the trail, along with some modifications of the existing animatronics to keep it fresh. If they do any additions, it'll probably be in the trees circled by the current path.
